The Basics in Business No matter what area of business you are in, if you don’t have customers than your business will eventually fail. That’s why it is so important to present yourself and your product in a way which will not only attract the demographic you seek, but inspire them to come back again. Here are examples of things you can do to ensure you will not only attract new customers, but create a regular customer base.
LocationEverywhere you go everyone and anyone will tell you that one of the most important things to making a successful business and to keep customers coming back is the location! And I’m not just talking about the correct demographic area, I also mean the exact location whether it’s on the right side of the street or by other stores and so on. I’ve heard many people throughout the years complain about loving a certain store or place but they barely ever go there due to the traffic around the location and it being too much of a pain when entering and/or leaving the business. AppearanceIt is very true what everyone says in terms of the first “impression is a lasting impression”! This is not just true in personal aspects but in business situations as well. If someone walks into a department store that has great prices but garbage on the floor, a bad smell in the air and items thrown all over the shelves and on the floor, what are the chances that they will return just based on the low prices? Very slim to none unless the prices are almost 100 % discounted which is highly unlikely. PricesThis is obviously one of the more important aspects of the business world. While you want to make a profit to stay a float in the business world, you also need to make sure you are still fairly competitive with other business of the same kind and maybe a little lower with more product to offer which will offset the lower prices. Nothing is more appealing then knowing if you drive down the road a mile you’ll find the same product for two dollars cheaper.
Now this can be accomplished many ways with specials, sales, coupons, buy one get one at half off or free and so on. And as mentioned above, you can have lower prices but offer more product and more brands which should off set the lower prices and still bring in the amount of revenue your looking for.
Knowledge of the product you are sellingIt is very crucial that all employees have complete knowledge in the product or services being offered in a business. There is nothing worse then when you are asking questions regarding a product or service and the worker has to call someone, run and get someone else from the back, tells you wrong information or asks you to return on another day when someone with more knowledge will be there. Now yes there are certain extenuating circumstances such as employees going through training, but all too often in hopes of putting employees on their own quickly so there is only one employee to pay a day, they are put on their own too early and don’t have full knowledge of what they are talking about. This will create room for people especially perfectionists and ones in a hurry to leave and not want to return thinking that everyone just has poor knowledge of the business. FriendlinessAll to often we hear complaints by word of mouth and it travels extremely fast, we all know that when we hear something, we take it to heart and usually stay clear of the business without even trying it out for ourselves. Talk to your customers, smile, make suggestions but don’t be overbearing at the same time. I recently went to a store to get one thing in particular, I left an hour later with something completely different from what I planned on getting. The owner of the store pointed me in a better direction, explained why it would be better and actually chatted with me about everything and anything, it gave me a sense of feeling that she got me, knew what I was about and was truly caring of my needs. Get ready for a great year... Happy 2014!

GOOD TIPS, GOOD PETS, GOOD LIFE IN 2014! They say, when you know better, you do better. Here's to doing better for your pets in 2014! 1) Start with a good fit. Thoroughly research the type of pet you would like to share your life with -before- bringing one home. It's the top pet advice because, knowledge is power! While much better than outright abandonment, discarding a pet at the shelter because you didn't do your research first, is unethical at best and cruel at worst. It's not responsible to purchase pets on a whim (ie: baby bunnies or chicks at Easter, bad idea!) and it is cruel to initially show interest in a 'baby' pet only to abandon her because you've suddenly lost interest once she enters the gangly, 'tween time. Animals are sentient beings which means they have feelings. Just like us, they experience pain, loneliness, sadness, fear, as much as they experience joy, love and contentment. As living beings, just like us, they require a certain amount of care. Bring a pet into your home and family only with the heartfelt commitment to love and care for her ALL of her life. It's the right thing to do. 2) “Names” have energy. Be mindful what you name your pet. Calling him 'Stinky' or 'Stupid' just may be a self-fulfilling prophesy.... 3) Fresh, clean water is essential for a healthy life for all God's creatures. Sometimes, we just don't remember to put down fresh water often enough. Your pet wouldn't drink out of the toilet if you kept his water dish as freshly filled with multiple 'flushings' a day! Good rule of thumb, every time you feed him, put down a fresh bowl of water. Eating snow does not replace fresh water in his dish. This goes for all pets. 4) Raw food, naturally high in digestive enzymes is the correct way to feed an animal as their digestive tracts are short, specifically designed to have fast elimination. Dry, processed kibbled foods are 'dead' foods and never the best choice as the animal cannot fully utilize nutrients before it is eliminated. Your family might go for 'junk food' but you know it's not a healthy diet 7-days a week! If you have
time to feed yourself, you have time to feed your pet a species-appropriate diet. It's easier and much less expensive than you think. A healthy, happy, calmer pet is more $$$ for you, less for your veterinarian! 5) Positive reinforcement is the best training you can give your pet. Like anyone new to the family, every pet deserves to know what is expected of him. What is acceptable behaviour and what isn't, your pet(like your human!) won't know the difference until taught! You wouldn't beat your child or stick his nose in his diaper, please DON”T use negative reinforcement on your pets either. It simply doesn't work or even make sense to them and he'll never, ever forget what you did. Cats, birds, hamsters, and mice can also be trained using positive reinforcement. You'll be astonished at how much you can accomplish and your pets will love you even more for the extra, positive attention. 6) Who's walk is it anyway? Your dog deserves fun outings! Walks are for exploring, exercise, scent-marking and bathroom time, NOT for training drills. 'Training' is a separate outing and stated as such after exercise! Every trainer will tell you, your dog will be far more co-operative when he's been exercised and burned off his excess energy FIRST. A dog should have a six-foot leash, minimum. This is for your comfort as much as your dog's. 7) Just because your pet may have a doghouse, it doesn't make him 'freeze-free.' If it's very cold out, BRING HIM IN! -20, 30 wind-chills are safe for Polar bears, but deadly for dogs or cats! 8) Be kind and thoughtful with your pet. If you are in a bad mood, please don't take it out on your pet. It will only scare and confuse him making you untrustworthy in his eyes. Take a deep breath and calm down before you interact. Your pet deserves to share the best life possible with a knowledgeable and loving custodian. It's 2014! Make your pet a fullfledged 'member of the family' by always treating him with love and kindness. You will be rewarded 1,000 times over.
