A car’s transmission goes through quite a bit, regardless of the kind of driver you are, whether you’re a heavy outdoors person towing skidoos, seadoos, canoes, or a commuter in the big city. We always have to keep in consideration the abuse we put our cars through. When we use our vehicles aggressively our maintenance schedule should increase. When you look in your owners manual it will give you transmission fluid change intervals just like your engine oil. And again it will give you two options, severe driving and normal. Severe can be classified as stop-and-go traffic or excessive idling, making frequent short trips (less than 8km per trip), driving in extreme temperatures (over 32’c or below freezing), and hauling and towing. Our transmission fluid condition is very important to the proper operation of our cars. Always remember, transmission fluid is an oil base liquid and subject to breakdown and loss of its protective qualities and cooling ability, just like engine oil. Without regular maintenance it could
