Back-to-School Budget: Do your Homework! Summer! Baseball, sunshine, lemonade... and back to school? It’s almost the middle of August and the incredible summer days and nights we dream of most of the year are quickly passing us by. Summer or not, it's time to think about ways to save money for back-to-school clothing and school supplies. If your child is attending elementary or high school all you need to know is: What's on the list? Local discount and office supply stores may feature a checklist, school web sites are another good source for supply lists. Download or grab each child's checklists, then scour the house for items already onhand. Once you have an idea of your child's true needs, establish a budget amount and create a learning experience. Yes, little Megan WILL want the pricey licensedcharacter backpack, lunchbox and the binder, no matter the cost. A bit of horse-trading along the lines of, "Well, the budget will let you buy the backpack only if we choose less expensive binders" can make the limits clear and teach financial skills at the same time.

It's All in a Name..... Einstein's Theory of Relativity (E=MC2) tells us that 'everything is energy'. This includes NAMES. There are names that hold positive energy and names that hold negative energy. Do you remember when you were a kid in school and received an embarrassing nickname and much to your horror, it stuck? You have only to look to your own childhood, or that of a friend's or classmate's to understand the pain and humiliation in being so essentially connected with a negative name. Even today, when you think about it, you cringe. That's the power of 'Name-Energy'....Having a negative name depletes you. Makes you sad, brings you down because, it's invalidating. It does not make you feel good, uplifted or happy. Every time you hear it, the pain fills you. That 'Name-Energy' doesn't stop with humans. Naming your pet with a negative, silly or embarrassing name has a very undermining energy and puts upon them a low vibration which will follow them their entire life. Pets are sentient beings, which mean they have feelings like you and me. True, humans are more apt to hold grudges and pets are far more forgiving, but still...You wouldn't like the name 'Stinky' or 'Ugly Uggers' or 'Stupido' to follow you around your whole life and neither would your pet.
When a pet comes to you already named, if his or her name isn't suitable, feel free to re-name! Put some thought into it and find something more appropriate and with positive meaning. You won't confuse your pet and don't be surprised if your pet slathers you in a slurry of grateful kisses! Make a list of the very best qualities your pet has and choose a name that puts him in his highest light. If your pet is receiving a name for the first time, make it one to which you both can be proud. Be creative, in a positive way! There are many books of baby names available (including those specifically made for pets) with thousands of great names. You can research the meaning of the names and choose one for your beloved pet that truly fits well. Choose a good name, a name that will uplift. A name you will be happy to call out in public at the park. It isn't coincidence, that many pets who've won awards for rescuing their custodians are named, "Hero." Naming your pet is putting an energetic stamp on them. Make it a stamp that you and your pet, won't regret.
