J.C. has had the opportunity to get involved on the student leadership teams for Fusion and Never2Young - annual high school and middle school youth conferences hosted by IWU. Biology, physics, chemistry, computer science, math, nursing, occupational therapy and athletic training students share space and knowledge by learning together in the Ott Hall of Sciences and Nursing—IWU’s newest academic building.

IWU’s nursing program, the largest within the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), is nationally recognized. The program offers students an integrated educational experience that combines coursework with practical hands-on learning. MAJOR: BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION/MARKETING GRAD YEAR: 2012 CAREER: ENTREPRENEUR | INDIANA “I do what I do because I love it,” said Santiago. “I think that’s success to me– getting to do what I love every single day of my life.” Barely a year out of college, Santiago Jaramillo found himself joining an elite group: Inc. magazine’s list of “30 Under 30” entrepreneurs for 2013. In college, he founded Bluebridge to create mobile apps for small businesses and churches, making more than $100,000 in his senior year alone. In 2016, Santiago sold Bluebridge’s church and tourism business for $8 million. Since then, he has shifted his focus to founding Emplify, a growing company that provides businesses with an app designed to increase employee engagement.

“IWU has prepared me in so many ways. Not only am I academically above my coworkers, but I also have a foundation of love for God and community that was strengthened at IWU.” Seeking adventure, Lynette Ellcessor decided to pursue travel nursing, a role that places nurses in a specific location for approximately 13 weeks. She landed an assignment as a labor and delivery nurse in southern California. For Lynette, this was a perfect fit, as it allowed her to fulfill her dream of living in California without permanently moving there. Working three-day weeks, she used her free time to explore the area and experience a new part of the country.

MAJOR: BIOCHEMISTRY GRAD YEAR: 2019 CAREER: MEDICAL SCHOOL STUDENT | CALIFORNIA “IWU has done a great job at preparing me for medical school. Through the unique research opportunities and my professors’ high standards, I am better prepared when compared to my medical school classmates.” After scoring in the 100th percentile on the MCAT, Michael Gongwer was accepted into four competitive MD-PhD programs: Yale; University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA); Washington University in St. Louis; and Vanderbilt. He decided to enroll in UCLA’s MD-PhD program, which is training him as both a physician and scientist to make advances in medicine. Michael’s goal is to run a neuroscience research lab and work as a neurologist seeing patients.
McKara Caldwell MAJOR: SOCIAL WORK YEAR: SENIOR
“Studying social work at IWU has been really wonderful because God is revealing to me that there are so many skills I’m developing as a social worker that will support what I do with Stitching a Legacy.” Between attending class and participating in extracurriculars, McKara Caldwell is busy running a certified non-profit called Stitching a Legacy. McKara started Stitching a Legacy as a teenager for the purpose of blessing orphaned and underprivileged girls with homemade and unique sundresses. She and her team of seamstresses sew each unique dress by hand, then distribute the colorful pieces to girls around the world.

Staffed by over 40 baristas ranging from freshmen to seniors, McConn serves as the Student Center social hub. Wildcat Academy
Wildcat Academy offers high school students the opportunity to experience and prepare for college prior to enrolling as a first-time freshman. Through Wildcat Academy’s various programs and opportunities, high school students can earn college credit through dual credit courses, get hands-on experience in their area of interest and even earn a scholarship to IWU! This exciting opportunity allows you to jump-start your college career and prepare for a successful college experience! ONSIT E DUAL ENR O LL M E N T High school juniors and seniors earn college credit before graduating high school by taking courses onsite at our Marion, Indiana, campus. These credits satisfy IWU graduation requirements and can be transferred. The program provides a great experience and exposure to college-level coursework at a reduced cost. Students are limited to six credit hours per semester.
WILDCAT SUMMER ACA D E M Y The Wildcat Summer Academy is a unique enrichment and inspiration opportunity to develop skills to be used for a lifetime. High school students are invited to spend one week on IWU’s campus immersed in a subject of their choice—such as art, business, music or nursing— and explore the Christian faith in the context of their specific area of interest. College credit is not offered for Wildcat Summer Academy.

WILDCAT ATHLETICS Join the pack and cheer on the Wildcats! Student-athletes are leaders not only for their team, but also for the world around them. Sports teams travel abroad for mission trips and serve our local community. Among many department-wide accomplishments, the men’s basketball team has won three NAIA Division II National Championships in a five-year span with titles in 2014, 2016 and 2018.
