The 2025 fiscal year was defined by progress and momentum� The Division of University Advancement announced fundraising totals of $20,102,253, marking the fifth consecutive year that Indiana State has raised more than $20 million and celebrating the successful completion of the Be So BOLD campaign�

The close of the campaign stands as a milestone in Indiana State’s history, one defined by shared purpose and transformative support�

Tim Wiseman

During his time at Indiana State, Tim Wiseman ’91 was an active member and two-time president of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity (PKA)� He credits much of his 32-year career success at Advanced Drainage Systems to his time and experience through his fraternity and his alma mater� To give back, Wiseman chose to contribute towards existing endowments that help other students complete their degrees at Indiana State� He achieved this through supporting four scholarships: the Alumni Scholarship in Teaching, the James A� Woodard Community Service Award, the Joseph L Quinn Memorial Scholarship, and the Pi Kappa Alpha Alumni Scholarship�

In addition to supporting these scholarships, Wiseman extended his impact even further through creating two endowments of his own: the Wiseman Technology Scholarship for PKA members who major in construction management and the Pi Kappa Alpha FaithCentered Life Award for PKA members who recognize the centrality of faith in building a life with meaning� These endowments reflect Wiseman’s generosity and inspiring journey and provide significant support for the academic goals and leadership development of so many students at Indiana State University In honor of Tim’s consistent philanthropy to Indiana State, he was recognized with the March On! Award in 2025�

Dick Meyer

Dick Meyer ’73 was a member of the Sycamore football team during his time at Indiana State and has been a loyal supporter of his team and alma mater for years� After graduating with his degree in men’s physical education, Meyer furthered his education at Ball State and forged a career in education as a photography teacher� Because of his valued experience at Indiana State, Meyer made a gift to the Sycamore football team� His support is essential in providing student-athletes with the proper equipment and resources to achieve success both on the field and in the classroom�

Ingebrigtsen-Keplinger

Honoring her family’s connection to Indiana State, Joanne Ingebrigtsen-Keplinger created the Bjorn Ingebrigtsen Family Nursing Scholarship to uplift future generations of nursing students through her estate Born and raised in Chicago, Ingebrigtsen-Keplinger came from humble beginnings and was only able to complete schooling through the eighth grade� Despite those challenges, she carried with her an enduring drive, intelligence, and compassion that shaped her journey as a devoted mother and supportive member of her community�

Moved by her admiration for nurses and their commitment to caring for others, IngebrigtsenKeplinger established a gift through her estate to Indiana State University� Her generosity supports the education of future nurses, empowering them to follow their calling and ensures that Sycamores pursuing nursing will have the support they need to thrive and give back to their communities�

Dr. Peggy Sankey

Dr Peggy Sankey ’61 dedicated her career to serving the health needs of her community� After graduating from Indiana State University, Sankey received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit She went on to earn dual board certifications in Pathology and Dermatopathology� During her career, Sankey served Parke, Vermillion, and Vigo counties as a highly respected medical doctor and was a member of the American Medical Association and the Vigo Parke Vermillion County Medical Society�

Through her estate, Dr Sankey made a transformative multi-million-dollar gift to Indiana State University� Her generosity advances the education and training of nurses and other healthcare professionals� The gift will support the purchase of cuttingedge medical equipment, and enhance hands-on learning opportunities for future medical professionals at Indiana State� Her legacy continues to inspire, advancing the University’s campaign to expand experiential learning and strengthen healthcare education across the region In recognition of her commitment to transformative education, Dr� Sankey was posthumously honored with the March On! Award in 2025

Dr. Jan McCarthy

Dr� Jan McCarthy joined Indiana State in 1962 and served as a faculty member for 30 years� In her time at the University, Dr� McCarthy earned faculty emeritus status and accumulated accolades that included chairing the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, serving as the President of the Council for Professional Development and President of the National Association for the Education of Young Children� She was also a member of the U�S� National Committee of the World Organization for Early Childhood Education and the Bayh College of Education Dean’s Advancement Council� Throughout her lifetime, Dr� McCarthy’s philanthropy to Indiana State has exceeded $1 5 million and has been instrumental in advancing the Bayh College of Education

and the creation of the Jan Gorrell McCarthy Speaker Series, which brings professional educators to campus to share their experiences with future teachers and offers professional development for education faculty� Her philanthropy and devotion to education were recognized with the March On! Award in 2010�

To honor Dr� McCarthy’s lifetime of giving to the University and her involvement in the creation of the early childhood education program in the Bayh College of Education, the Jan McCarthy Early Childhood Education Center was established in 2025 The Center will serve as a facility to improve childcare accessibility for the community and enhance childhood education at Indiana State

Fundraising Meets AI

In spring 2025, Indiana State University announced a new era of donor engagement through the launch of Samantha, the University’s first Virtual Engagement Officer (VEO)� This is an AI-driven innovation developed in partnership with Givzey� It is designed to enhance the donor experience by providing a personalized and interactive connection to Indiana State�

As the first nonprofit organization in Indiana to implement a VEO, Indiana State University is at the forefront of integrating

artificial intelligence into fundraising and donor relations� Samantha will engage with approximately 1,200 donors, offering concierge-level service to share updates on students, faculty, and programs� This initiative aligns with the University’s commitment to strengthening alumni and donor relationships through cutting-edge technology�

Pam and James Poore

Pam ’89 and James Poore, Indianapolis-area owner-operators of McDonald’s restaurants, partnered with Indiana State University to expand educational opportunities for their employees and for first-generation college students� Through this collaboration, eligible students can benefit from a tuition discount, fully online or hybrid degree options, and waived application fees� In addition to this partnership, the Poores have also committed funding to support scholarships for students from Indianapolis Public Schools who enroll at Indiana State� Together, their efforts help pave new pathways for students to confidently take the next step in pursuing their degree� To recognize their dedication, Pam was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2025�

Mark Swaim

Mark Swaim established the Mark E� and Kathie Oiler Swaim Endowed Research Grant in honor of his late wife, Kathie Oiler Swaim, a 1969 graduate of Indiana State University� Kathie devoted her life to helping others, beginning her career in employment training and economic development before creating her own consulting company, Alternatives Inc , to provide support to nonprofit organizations in northeast Indiana� Her work reflected a deep belief in creativity, compassion, and the power of service� Mark, who worked as an engineer with the National Guard for 37 years before retiring, wanted to recognize the kindness and generosity that defined Kathie’s life� This grant will support undergraduate and graduate students from various disciplines who are involved in research and other creative projects� Through this gift, Kathie’s service and care will continue to strengthen opportunities for students to learn, create, and contribute to their fields and communities�

Charlie and Terri Lentz

Charlie ’65 and Terri ’66 Lentz dedicated their lives to education and to helping others succeed, values that now extend to Indiana State University through their generous estate gift supporting the women’s basketball program� Their gift will strengthen opportunities for Sycamore student-athletes, ensuring they have the resources to excel both academically and athletically�

A lifelong educator, Terri distinguished herself as a National Board-Certified Teacher in

Orange County, Florida, where she inspired countless students with her passion for learning� Charlie began his career as a high school teacher and basketball coach before transitioning into real estate, where he built a respected career in property appraisal, earning the prestigious MAI designation Their generosity will empower future generations of Sycamore women’s basketball players to succeed and excel

Alumni Nick ’19 and Makayla ’19 McCollum and Kate ’16 and Brendan Sullivan exemplify the lasting impact of Sycamore generosity through the establishment of two endowed scholarships supporting student success� The McCollums created The McCollum Family Endowed Scholarship with a $25,000 gift to assist students in the Scott College of Business who are active members of Pi Kappa Alpha or Zeta Tau Alpha Similarly, the Sullivans established the Sullivan Family Aspiring CFP® Scholarship with a $25,500 gift to support Scott College of Business students pursuing certification as a CFP®� Their gifts reflect a shared commitment to strengthening opportunities for future generations of Sycamores and advancing a culture of philanthropy within the Indiana State community

As part of the Be So BOLD campaign, President Godard created a new strategic initiative to advance educational opportunities called the Sycamore Success Scholarship Fund The fund will be used to offer financial support to deserving incoming freshmen at Indiana State who have not received another significant scholarship from the University

Dedicated community member and Indiana State alumna Jo Einstandig ’61, GR ’67 made the lead gift to the Sycamore Success Scholarship Fund� Einstandig served the Vigo County School Corporation and held VP roles in multiple companies for more than 20 years� She also served as an emeritus director of the Indiana State University Foundation Board

In recognition of her steadfast dedication, Einstandig was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2018

A BOLD Achievement

Our Be So BOLD Campaign Closes Strong!

Indiana State University proudly celebrated the historic success of the Be So BOLD campaign, the most ambitious fundraising initiative in University history� The campaign launched with an initial $100 million goal and proceeded to surpass all expectations, raising an institutional record of $133 million in support of student scholarships, experiential learning, faculty excellence, and Sycamore Athletics� This achievement reflects the deep commitment of alumni, donors, and friends who believe in the mission and future of Indiana State�

Through Be So BOLD, the University received transformative gifts that are already shaping lives Some campaign highlights include an $8 million gift from Steve ’70 and Gloria Bailey to name the Bailey College of Engineering & Technology; Jim ’82 and Sue Pajakowski’s gift to create the Michael Grant Pajakowski Endowed Scholarship, providing opportunities for students from low-income neighborhoods in Chicago; Keith Dauer and Sandy ’68, GR

’69 Senior-Dauer’s gift to create the SeniorDauer Travel Grant Endowment, enriching global learning experiences; and Darwin ’75 McCallian’s gift to establish the Darwin McCallian Executive Leadership Forum Endowment and the Darwin McCallian Endowed Professor of Business, advancing academic excellence Donor impact also extends to Sycamore Athletics through Robert ’61, GR ’63 and Penny ’67, GR ’70, ’91 Schafer’s generous support of facility enhancements and athletic funds�

The campaign’s success was driven by 18,316 donors, 155 new endowed funds, and a $64�3 million growth in endowment assets and demonstrates the collective strength of the Sycamore community� Led by co-chairs Paul and Susan Chaney, Buffy and Larry Boulet, the Be So BOLD Campaign Cabinet, and the Indiana State University Foundation Board, the Be So BOLD Campaign embodies the power of philanthropy to transform lives, communities, and the future of Indiana State University�

Give to Blue Day 2025 brought together 1,937 Sycamores from across the globe, who collectively contributed more than $1�5 million in just 24 hours to support Indiana State University students and programs� This remarkable achievement reflects the strength of the Sycamore community�
