Adam Miller Earns Junior Silver Award Adam Miller, Gridley, Ill., has earned the National Junior Angus Association’s (NJAA) Silver award, according to Jaclyn Upperman, education and events director of the American Angus Association® in Saint Joseph, Mo. Miller is the 15-year-old son of Alan and Theresa Miller and attends El Paso Gridley High School. He is a member of the NJAA and the Illinois Junior Angus Association, where he serves as director. He has participated in local, state, regional and national shows and showmanship contests. At the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), Miller participated in the team fitting contest and the All-American Certified Angus Beef® Cook-Off. He also participated in the mentoring program in 2014, 2018 and 2019. He was a participant in the Mini-Raising the Bar conference in 2017 and the Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD) conference in 2019. Miller has submitted weight data to the Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR®). The Silver award is the second of three levels of the NJAA Recognition Program that began in 1972. Junior Angus breeders must apply for the award, then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honors. Applicants are evaluated in areas of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle. The NJAA promotes the involvement of young people in raising Angus cattle, while also providing leadership and selfdevelopment opportunities for the nearly 6,000 active members nationwide.
