I’m Kevin Jones

And this is my missionary calling.

When I was doing college ministry in Texas, it was something that our church really valued. We started doing mission trips for church planting. And then our college ministry started trying to funnel students, possibly staff members and interns, into church plants. That’s what started my passion with church planting, and that’s what started me wanting to focus more on church planting, because I saw the need. I saw the places where there weren’t churches—there weren’t enough churches. But there’s a lot of risk in it. To be honest, that’s one of the most beautiful things about church planting. There’s a lot of risk and there’s guys laying their lives down the line to share the gospel with a community that is underserved with the gospel. There’s a lot of stress in church planting. My expertise is walking with them, equipping them. My expertise is making sure we’re getting resources flowing to them. There are lots of churches in Illinois, but still there’s over eight million people that are lost in Illinois. That’s what gets me up on Mondays.

God called. I answered. You sent. Through Cooperative Program giving.

With your church’s faithful giving

to missions through Southern Baptist’s Cooperative Program, Kevin Jones was trained at an SBC seminary for the work he does today as IBSA Church Planting Director. Because Illinois Baptists give over $5 million through CP each year, Kevin helps church planters start new congregations where they are needed, all over Illinois. Here he talks with Daniel Nemmers, Pastor at Salt Church in Bloomington near Illinois State University.

See Kevin’s story and learn about missions partnership through CP.

God called. Kevin answered.
