Letter from the Founder
Ilona Lee
This summer, we invite you to look beyond the shoreline.
For centuries, the Mediterranean has been more than a sea. It has been a meeting place of civilizations, ideas, craftsmanship, commerce, and culture—a region where history continues to inspire the future. This edition of ÎLE MAISON is dedicated to that enduring spirit.
From Monaco's leadership in ocean stewardship and the timeless elegance of the Côte d'Azur, to the quiet beauty of Malta, Gozo, and France's Anjou region, these pages celebrate places where heritage, innovation, and thoughtful stewardship exist side by side. We also look ahead to the creativity of Paris Design Week, celebrate the enduring craftsmanship of the yachting world, and recognize those shaping culture through Art Basel in Basel.
Throughout this issue, one idea emerges again and again: legacy. Legacy lives in the institutions that preserve our cultural treasures, in remarkable homes entrusted across generations, in master artisans who transform materials into works of art, and in the people dedicating their lives to protecting our oceans and communities. Above all, it is reflected in the choices we make today for the generations who will follow.
This edition holds special significance as it features Blue Legacy, a complete chapter from our inaugural ÎM Collectible a publication created to explore the relationship between identity, stewardship, and the future we are building together. Inspired by our time in Monaco during the Monaco Blue Initiative and the Blue Economy & Finance Forum, Blue Legacy brings together stories of ocean conservation, coastal heritage, innovation, sustainable hospitality, and the visionary individuals shaping the future of our blue planet.
We are equally proud to announce the beginning of our partnership with Seatrees, an organization dedicated to restoring and protecting vital marine ecosystems around the world. It reflects a commitment that extends beyond storytelling—transforming inspiration into meaningful action and inviting our community to become part of preserving the places we value most.
As ÎLE MAISON continues to grow, so does our international community of cultural institutions, hospitality leaders, visionary brands, collectors, founders, and global events united by a shared belief: that meaningful legacies are never built alone.
Whether you join us from the Mediterranean or elsewhere in the world, I hope these stories inspire you to travel with greater curiosity, live with greater intention, and discover the people, places, and ideas quietly shaping tomorrow.
Thank you for being part of the ÎLE MAISON community, With gratitude, Ilona

Blue Legacy
Musée Océanographique de Monaco
Temple of the Sea
Blue Legacy explores the relationship between the sea, stewardship, and the people shaping its future. From scientific discovery and philanthropy to architecture, diplomacy, and innovation, these pages reflect one simple belief: what we inherit is also ours to protect.
Rising dramatically from the cliffs of Monaco overlooking the Mediterranean, the Oceanographic Museum stands as one of the world’s great monuments to scientific exploration.
Founded in 1910 by Prince Albert I of Monaco—scientist, explorer, and pioneer of modern oceanography—the museum was born from a belief both simple and profound: humanity cannot protect what it does not understand. For more than a century, the institution has served as a bridge between science and society, advancing research, education, and public awareness while inspiring generations to deepen their relationship with the sea. Its spectacular architecture, carved directly into the rock overlooking the Mediterranean, reflects the ambition of its founder. Part palace, part laboratory, part cathedral dedicated to the sea, the Museum remains a symbol of Monaco’s enduring commitment to exploration, knowledge, and stewardship. In many ways, it embodies one of the defining questions of our time:
How do we become worthy stewards of what we have inherited?
The Prince Who Looked Beyond the Horizon
Before he was remembered as a sovereign, Prince Albert I was an explorer.
Between 1885 and 1915, he led twenty-eight scientific expeditions across the Mediterranean and Atlantic, transforming his vessels into floating laboratories and helping shape modern oceanography as a scientific discipline. Known as the “Prince of the Seas,” he explored previously inaccessible waters, commissioned artists
to document marine life, developed new scientific instruments, identified previously unknown species, and dedicated his life to understanding the ocean. At a time when most viewed the sea as a resource to be exploited, Albert I viewed it as something to be understood.
In 1906 he founded the Oceanographic Institute. In 1910 he inaugurated the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. His belief was simple:
To protect the sea, people must first learn to love it.
More than a century later, that idea remains as relevant as ever.
“Here, marine science enters this palace, whose architect left a brilliant mark on my ambition to bring together civilisation’s two driving forces: art and science.”
Prince Albert I, speech for the inauguration of the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, 29 March 1910
Designed by architect Paul Delefortrie, the Oceanographic Museum was constructed between 1899 and 1910 from white stone quarried in nearby La Turbie. Rising 85 meters above the Mediterranean and extending 100 meters along Monaco’s rocky coastline, the building appears to emerge directly from the sea itself. Its monumental classical façade reflects the ambition of its founder, Prince Albert I: twelve towering columns carved from single blocks of stone frame the structure, while sculptural details celebrate the marine world that inspired it.
Fish, waves, crustaceans, shellfish, octopuses, seabirds, and the names of historic oceanographic vessels are woven into the architecture, transforming the museum into a tribute to exploration, science, and discovery.
“May all visitors to the Museum be made aware that the oceans deserve the most attentive care to preserve both their ecosystems and their economic resources. May the visit to this Temple of the Sea, Science and Culture also raise awareness in everyone to the urgent need to save endangered species by successfully achieving the right balance between such protection and economic development.”
HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco
More than a museum, it is a monument to humanity’s enduring fascination with the sea —a place where art, architecture, and scientific inquiry converge above the waters that inspired them.
71% of our planet is covered by ocean. 50% of the oxygen we breathe is produced by marine organisms.
The ocean absorbs approximately 25% of global carbon emissions.
Over 80% of global trade is transported by sea. More than 3 billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods. An estimated 8–10 million tons of plastic enter the ocean every year.
The
ocean belongs to us all. So does its future.

The Future We Build
Monaco Blue Initiative
Blue
Economy & Finance Forum 2026
The future of the ocean will not be shaped by science alone. Nor by policy. Nor by capital. It will be shaped by their convergence
Monaco is one of the rare places where history is preserved and the future is imagined. Both happen at the same time. The conversations taking place here today are no longer solely about exploration. They are about responsibility. The ocean regulates our climate, supports global trade, provides food security for billions of people, and sustains the ecosystems upon which life depends. Yet despite its importance, the gap between what we know and what we do remains vast.
Rising temperatures, biodiversity loss, pollution, and increasing pressure on marine resources have transformed the ocean from a distant environmental concern into one of the defining challenges—and opportunities—of our time.
Against this backdrop, Monaco has emerged as a global meeting point for a new generation of leadership. Under the patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Monaco Blue Initiative and the Blue Economy & Finance
Forum bring together scientists, policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and international institutions around a shared conviction:
The future of the ocean will not be shaped by science alone. Nor by policy. Nor by capital. It will be shaped by their convergence. What emerged from these conversations was not a narrative of crisis. It was a narrative of possibility. A recognition that the question is no longer whether the ocean deserves protection. Nor whether stewardship can generate economic value. The question is whether we possess the vision, courage, and collective will to act at the scale required. The science exists. The innovation exists. The capital exists. The solutions exist. The challenge now is scale.
Scale of ambition. Scale of collaboration. Scale of execution. Because the ocean is no longer merely a resource to be managed. It is a legacy to be protected. A source of prosperity to be renewed. And perhaps the greatest horizon of all.

“Only one thing now stands between the Ocean and the capital it needs: the decision to act. And a delayed decision is never neutral. The cost of waiting on the Ocean is documented, it is rising, and it is paid by those who come after us.
Let me be plain: I will not ask whether the Ocean is investable. We have left that question behind us. I ask something harder. Invest in the Ocean now. Invest in it at scale. And invest in it as what it truly is – not a risk to be managed, but the defining opportunity of our time.”
Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Frontier 25 - President & CEO
“If we don’t give back, we will pay a higher price.”
Catherine Chabaud, French Republic
“The future of humanity will be written with the ocean, but with an ocean that is better understood, better protected, and from which we will have succeeded in growing economic benefits while contributing to its regeneration.”
Romain Ciarlet, Vice-Chairman and CEO, Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation
“The solutions exist. The capital exists. The innovation exists. The challenge now is scale. Scale of ambition. Scale of collaboration. And scale of execution.”
Marisa Drew, Standard Chartered - CSO.
“We need to design upfront with the ocean in mind from the beginning. The outcome is risk reduction, greater cost efficiency, and stronger long-term demand.”
Robert Calcagno, CEO, Oceanographic Institute of Monaco
“One thing is sure – it is time to enter a new phase: the phase of implementation; the phase of acceleration.”
The ocean is not merely part of our natural world. It is part of our collective legacy. A living archive of history. A source of prosperity. A horizon of possibility. Its future will be shaped by the choices we make today.
Will we leave behind something more beautiful, more resilient, and more meaningful than what we inherited?

Conceived from the vision of Orient Express and designed to redefine the boundaries between hospitality, design, and seafaring, the world's largest sailing yacht is far more than a new vessel-it is a manifesto for the transformation reshaping the luxury industry today. A transformation that is making travel an increasingly immersive, culturally rich, and deeply distinctive experience.
It is within this context that Giobagnara's contribution takes shape. The only Italian brand in its category selected for this distinctly French-led project, the maison joins some of the world's foremost names in hospitality, design, and shipbuilding. Under the creative direction of internationally acclaimed architect and designer Maxime d'Angeac, Artistic Director of Orient Express, the Corinthian reinterprets the golden age of the great transatlantic liners and the legendary Orient Express train through a contemporary design language defined by understated elegance, refined decoration, and meticulous attention to detail.
Italian craftsmanship takes center stage in the new era of luxury travel.
The only Italian brand in its category within a distinctly French project.
Giobagnara's participation carries a symbolic significance that extends well beyond the realm of design. Within a project led by some of France's most prestigious names in luxury and hospitality, the maison is the only Italian brand in its category selected to play a structural role in shaping the onboard experience.
This recognition underscores the strength of Made in Italy at the highest end of the global market-not through large-scale industrial production, but through the excellence of its specialized craftsmanship, the quality of its artisanal manufacturing, and its ability to deliver projects with the highest level of customization.
"Contributing to the new Orient Express sailing yacht project is both a privilege and a recognition of the journey Giobagnara has built over the past twenty-seven years. Bringing our craftsmanship and manufacturing expertise to an initiative of this scale and complexity-and contributing to so many aspects of the onboard experience-is an immense source of pride. It confirms that the true value of Italian craftsmanship lies in its ability to transform an ambitious vision into a tangible experience." - Giorgio Bagnara, founder and CEO

The Mediterranean
One of the World’s Most In-Demand Charter Regions
The Mediterranean has long been one of the world’s most soughtafter yacht charter regions, attracting clients with its iconic cruising grounds, refined coastal lifestyle and exceptional variety of destinations. For the 2026 peak summer season, brokers and industry professionals are continuing to report strong booking activity across many of the region’s most desirable locations. As clients move to secure preferred yachts, prime dates and tailored itineraries, availability for July and August is becoming more limited.
Popular cruising areas such as the French Riviera, the Amalfi Coast, Sardinia, Corsica, the Balearic Islands, the Greek Islands and the Maltese Archipelago continue to attract significant interest from charter guests seeking privacy, flexibility and exceptional service at sea. These destinations remain desirable due to their natural beauty, world-class hospitality, vibrant coastal towns and secluded anchorages.
Key Drivers Behind the Rise in Charter Demand
Privacy and Personalisation
Private yacht charters continue to appeal to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth travellers who value a more exclusive alternative to traditional luxury hotels and resorts. A yacht allows guests to enjoy a private environment, supported by a professional crew and a schedule shaped around their preferences. Charter clients are increasingly requesting bespoke itineraries that include quiet bays, fine dining, cultural excursions, beach clubs, watersports and access to lesser-known coastal destinations. This demand for tailored travel is helping to reinforce the Mediterranean’s position as one of the world’s leading luxury charter regions.
Wellness
and Lifestyle Experiences
Wellness-focused travel remains a major trend within the luxury sector, and yacht charters are well placed to meet this demand. Guests are placing greater emphasis on health, relaxation and balance, with many seeking yachts equipped with gyms, spa areas, jacuzzis, yoga spaces and expansive sun decks.
Larger and Better-Equipped Yachts
Brokers are also reporting continued demand for larger yachts with enhanced leisure and entertainment facilities. Beach clubs, swimming platforms, cinemas, water toys, tenders and spacious exterior decks are high on the list for families, groups of friends and corporate clients.
Most Popular Mediterranean Charter Destinations
The French Riviera remains a firm favourite, with Monaco, Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Antibes continuing to attract strong seasonal interest thanks to their prestigious marinas, luxury beach clubs, fine dining and glamorous summer atmosphere. The region is especially popular for clients seeking a polished charter experience, with short cruising distances between iconic coastal towns and easy access to world-class restaurants, events and nightlife.
Italy’s Amalfi Coast, Capri, Portofino and Sardinia are also expected to perform well, offering dramatic coastlines, exceptional cuisine, historic towns and a refined Mediterranean charm. These destinations appeal to guests looking for a blend of natural beauty, culture and elegance, with scenic anchorages, picturesque villages and some of the most recognisable cruising backdrops in Europe.
The Balearic Islands, including Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca, appeal to clients looking for a mix of nightlife, relaxed cruising and secluded coves. Greece also remains a key destination, with the Cyclades, Ionian Islands and Saronic Gulf offering islandhopping opportunities, charming harbours and a rich cultural backdrop.
Malta is also an increasingly attractive Central Mediterranean charter destination, particularly for clients looking for clear waters, historic harbours and convenient cruising access to Gozo, Comino and Sicily.
Why Early Booking Matters
As demand continues to grow, charter operators encourage advance booking to ensure availability. Early planning provides access to a wider selection of yachts, preferred cruising dates and the opportunity to create a more considered itinerary. This is particularly important for peak summer weeks, when the most popular yachts and berths are often reserved months ahead.

Malta’s Fiscal Unity Regime A Smart Solution for International Business Groups
Author: Sacha J. Farrugia, Senior Manager - Business Development, CSB Group.
Maltahaslongestablisheditselfas ahighlyattractiveEuropean jurisdictionforinternational businessesandinvestors, owing to its strategic location within the EU, robust yet business-oriented regulatory framework, competitive tax system, extensive double taxation treaty network, English-speaking environment, and well-developed corporate and financial services infrastructure. The jurisdiction continues to attract holding companies, trading groups, fintech operators, investment structures, and internationally mobile businesses seeking a reputable and efficient European base of operations.
One of the lesser known yet highly effective tools available to corporate groups operating through Malta is the Fiscal Unity Regime, a solution specifically designed to simplify tax administration, optimize group tax efficiency, and improve cash flow management for qualifying group structures.
What is Malta’s Fiscal Unity Regime?
Introduced in 2019 through the Consolidated Group (Income Tax) Rules, Malta’s Fiscal Unity Regime allows qualifying companies forming part of the same corporate group to elect to be treated as a single taxpayer for Maltese income tax purposes.
In practical terms, rather than each entity within the group being assessed and taxed separately, the group may consolidate its tax position under one designated principal taxpayer. This approach significantly simplifies tax administration and reporting obligations, while also creating valuable timing, liquidity, and cash flow advantages for international group structures operating through Malta.
Malta’s Attractive Effective Tax Rate
Malta operates a full imputation tax system, one of the distinguishing features of its corporate tax framework While companies registered in Malta are generally subject to income tax at a rate of 35% on taxable profits, Malta’s tax refund mechanism can, in many international structures, significantly reduce the overall effective tax burden for eligible foreign shareholders.
Subject to the nature of the income and the structure implemented, foreign shareholders may typically benefit from a refund of 6/7ths of the Maltese tax paid, potentially resulting in an effective Maltese tax leakage of approximately 5%.
Under the traditional system, however, the Maltese company would first be required to pay tax at the standard 35% rate and distribute the remaining profits to its shareholder/s outside of Malta as a dividend, following which the shareholder/s would subsequently submit a refund claim. Although effective, this process may involve waiting periods before the refund is received, which can create temporary cash flow and liquidity considerations for businesses.
The introduction of Malta’s Fiscal Unity Regime sought to address this practical limitation. By allowing qualifying group structures to consolidate their tax position under a fiscal unit, the regime enables the effective lower tax rate to be achieved more efficiently within the structure itself, thereby reducing the need to await the shareholder refund process.
For many international groups, this can translate into improved liquidity, enhanced cash flow management, simplified administration, and greater operational efficiency, making Malta an even more attractive jurisdiction from which to structure international operations.
Key Advantages for International Groups
The Fiscal Unity Regime offers several important benefits for businesses looking to establish or relocate operations to Malta:
Simplified Tax Administration
Group companies may file through a consolidated structure, reducing administrative complexity and improving operational efficiency.
Improved Cash Flow
By reducing the need to wait for shareholder tax refunds, businesses may benefit from enhanced liquidity and more efficient capital management.
EU Jurisdiction with Strong Reputation
Malta offers businesses access to an EU-compliant corporate and tax framework combined with extensive double taxation treaty networks.
English-Speaking and Business-Friendly Environment
As an English-speaking EU jurisdiction with experienced corporate, tax and legal professionals, Malta remains a practical and accessible destination for international entrepreneurs and groups.
Who Can Benefit?
Malta’s Fiscal Unity Regime is generally available to qualifying group structures where a parent company holds at least 95% of its subsidiaries, subject to the applicable legal, tax, and regulatory requirements being satisfied.
The regime is particularly attractive for international businesses seeking to establish an efficient and reputable European corporate presence while benefiting from Malta’s flexible and business-oriented tax framework. Companies considering Malta company formation, international group restructuring, relocation of operations, holding or investment company structures, or broader European market access may find the Fiscal Unity Regime to be a highly valuable solution.
In addition to the potential tax and cash flow efficiencies, Malta offers businesses the advantages of operating from a stable EU jurisdiction with access to an extensive double taxation treaty network, a highly skilled Englishspeaking workforce, modern corporate legislation, and a well-established professional services ecosystem. These factors continue to make Malta an increasingly popular destination for internationally minded entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate groups looking to optimize their structures within a fully compliant European framework.

GOZO - An Island Beyond Time
For thousands of years, travelers have been drawn to Gozo. According to legend, it was here that Calypso welcomed Odysseus during his long journey home. Surrounded by sea, silence, and extraordinary natural beauty, the island has long inspired reflection, renewal, and the longing to remain just a little longer. Today, that same spirit continues to define Gozo.
Home to the Ġgantija Temples—among the oldest freestanding structures on Earth, older than Stonehenge and the Pyramids of Egypt—Gozo has been a place of gathering, contemplation, and human creativity for milenia. Perhaps that is why time feels different here. Slower. Softer. More connected to nature, to tradition, and to what matters most.
Where Time Slows Down
Nestled on a private two-hectare seafront estate overlooking the Mediterranean and the nearby island of Comino, Villa Torre offers a rare opportunity to experience Gozo's timeless spirit.
Surrounded by olive trees, gardens, open skies, and uninterrupted sea views, the villa invites guests into a different rhythm of life. Mornings begin with the sunrise reflecting across the water. Days unfold between the sea, the pool, long lunches on the terrace, and quiet moments of reflection. Evenings end beneath spectacular sunsets and starlit skies.
With six bedrooms and six bathrooms arranged between the main villa and a separate guest residence, Villa Torre is designed for gathering while allowing space for privacy and retreat. Spacious terraces, elegant interiors, and direct access to a semi-private rocky beach create a setting where nature remains the true luxury.
A place to slow down. To gather. To celebrate.

Anjou. A Landscape Shaped by Time
Few regions embody the French Art de Vivre as naturally as Anjou.
A landscape shaped by history, craftsmanship, vineyards, gardens, and a deep appreciation for beauty in everyday life, it is a place where heritage remains part of the present rather than a memory of the past.
Centered around the historic city of Angers, former capital of the Plantagenet dynasty, the region has played an important role in French history for centuries. Visitors encounter remarkable landmarks, from the Château d’Angers and its monumental Apocalypse Tapestry—one of the greatest surviving
masterpieces of medieval Europe—to Saint-Maurice Cathedral, museums, vineyards, abbeys, and villages where tradition remains deeply rooted.
Designated as part of the UNESCO-listed Loire Valley, Anjou is home to some of France’s most celebrated cultural and architectural treasures. Yet beyond its monuments lies something less tangible: a way of life shaped by beauty, craftsmanship, hospitality, and the belief that how we live is itself an art.
It is within this landscape that Château de Noirieux finds its place

Galerie David d’Angers
Housed within the former Abbaye Toussaint, the Galerie David d’Angers offers one of Anjou’s most compelling dialogues between heritage and creativity. Beneath a contemporary glass canopy, the monumental sculptures of Pierre-Jean David d’Angers inhabit the centuries-old abbey, creating a striking encounter between history, art, and architecture. It is a reminder that cultural heritage is not merely preserved—it continues to evolve through each generation.
The Apocalypse Tapestry
Commissioned in the late 14th century by Louis I, Duke of Anjou, the Apocalypse Tapestry is the largest surviving medieval tapestry in the world. Stretching more than one hundred meters, it illustrates the Book of Revelation through a remarkable series of scenes woven with extraordinary craftsmanship and imagination. Today, it remains one of France’s greatest cultural treasures—a testament to the enduring power of art to preserve stories, transcend generations, and connect past, present, and future.
Saint-Maurice Cathedral
Nearly a thousand years after its construction began, Saint-Maurice Cathedral continues to evolve. In 2026, the cathedral unveiled a new contemporary gallery designed by renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. Created to protect rare medieval polychrome sculptures rediscovered on the cathedral’s western portal, the project brings together centuries of craftsmanship in a
dialogue between past and present. Rather than recreating what once stood there, Kuma designed a contemporary structure inspired by medieval proportions and the region’s architectural heritage, offering a thoughtful example of how historic landmarks can be preserved while remaining connected to their own time.

Maison Parisienne
at the Hôtel de Rohan Archives Nationales
Maison Parisienne takes over the gardens of the Hôtel de Rohan – Archives nationales with Arabesque, a monumental in situ installation by Pierre Renart
In this heritage site recently reopened to the public, the designer deploys poetic urban furniture in Moabi wood, inspired by the garden’s scroll work, transforming the ornamental motif into inhabitable sculpture.
Between cabinetmaking craftsmanship and technical innovation, this work invites an immersive experience where one contemplates as much as one sits, in a direct dialogue between contemporary creation and rediscovered heritage.
La Tempête at the Arc de Triomphe

From the base to the top, visitors move through a succession of works imagined by the artist, transforming the ascent of the monument into a sensitive and spectacular experience.

Sculpture/landscape at the Hôtel de Soubise Archives Nationales
On the occasion of Paris Design Week, Johanna de Clisson takes over the garden of the Hôtel de Soubise –Archives nationales with Sculpture/Landscape: New Figures of the French Garden.
A dozen sculptural planters in white stoneware are set within the site’s perspectives and enter into dialogue with its classical architecture.
Inspired by the codes of the French formal garden, the project offers a contemporary reading of it, between geometric rigor and organic forms, where the landscape becomes a field of experimentation and reinterpretation.

Art Basel Honors a Legacy of Stewardship
Paula Cooper Gallery Receives the Inaugural Gallery Legacy Award
Established in New York in 1968 by Paula Cooper, the gallery helped redefine the role of the modern gallery. As the first gallery to open in SoHo, it became a pioneering force in contemporary art, championing generations of influential artists while demonstrating that a gallery's greatest contribution extends far beyond selling works— it is about nurturing talent, building careers, shaping cultural dialogue, and preserving artistic legacy.
The new award acknowledges precisely this oftenoverlooked role. While artists have long been celebrated for lifetime achievement, the Gallery Legacy Award recognizes galleries as enduring custodians of creativity, institutions that invest in artists over decades and help shape both cultural history and the global art market.
Selected by an international jury of distinguished collectors, patrons, and cultural leaders, Paula Cooper Gallery was honored for its exceptional commitment to artistic excellence, ethical leadership, and intergenerational stewardship. Since joining Art Basel in 1999, the gallery has remained one of the fair's most respected exhibitors, consistently presenting museumquality exhibitions and representing many of the defining artists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
Reflecting the award's forward-looking spirit, Paula Cooper Gallery nominated Chapter NY as an emerging gallery to receive support for participation in Art Basel 2027, reinforcing the idea that legacy is not only about preserving the past, but investing in the future.
Founded by Paula Cooper in New York, the gallery was the first to open in SoHo and quickly became a pioneering force, presenting historically significant exhibitions and championing artists whose practices would come to define generations of contemporary artistic production.
