Our current understanding of the pathophysiology of asthma and the availability of potent, effective therapies mean that asthma can
be well controlled. However, to achieve this goal, optimal therapy must be prescribed and the patient must be taught how and when
to use it. Pharmacists, as part of the health care team, help improve the pharmacologic management of asthma by teaching patients
about their medications, how to use them, and the importance of using them as prescribed.
