Growing population increases the problem of growing pollution all over the globe. Population in India is about 135
crores and this number suggests the amount of pollution caused knowingly or unknowingly. Over the few decades it has been
observed that the largest contributor to the pollution in India is the use of large numbers of automobiles or vehicles. Electric
Vehicles prove to be one of the most efficient replacements to the fueled automobiles. These are just another automobiles or
vehicles but run on electric power or electrical energy. This paper reviews the state of art of the electric vehicle concept, its
advantages and benefits to the society and its power management strategies.
