The extent of the ring, the number of stations on the ring, the number of stations waiting to communicate, and the
frame size are all setup and workload characteristics that affect the performance of an FDDI LAN. In addition, the target token
rotation time is a significant parameter that network management may regulate to optimise performance (TTRT). The influence
of the TTRT on various performance indicators for different ring topologies was investigated using analytical modelling and
simulation approaches.
