Coating plays an important role in protecting the base metal from environmental and mechanical damages. Abrasive
wear resistance is an important property of the coating. The objective of this paper is to study the wear resistance and scratch
hardness of epoxy resin powder coating. Adding SiO2 nanoparticles changes the strength of the coating. Optimum percentage of
SiO2 nanoparticles has to be decided to obtain the minimum wear rate. Three different powder were manufactured having 0, 5
and 10 % wt SiO2 nanoparticles in epoxy powder. This powder was deposited on mild steel using electrostatic spray gun.
