Dear Partner in ministry, “Miracle” is a word that might be overused. But I’m not sure how else to describe Sandro’s experience. Sandro was raised in a slum in Bogotá, Colombia. The death of his mother when he was 16 years old saw him spiral into a deep depression, which led him to alcohol use and the dangerous life of living on the streets. When his girlfriend’s family hired two men to kill him, he thought his life was over. But after praying that God would deliver him, Sandro saw the men walk past him as if they didn’t see him. Sandro said, “There I saw the power of the Lord.”
“My life has completely changed.”
While serving a prison sentence, he fell from a great height and landed on his back. The inmates nearby thought he had taken his own life and believed he was certainly dead. Sandro felt his body break as he hit the ground, and he cried out to God for help. Instantly, “my body came back together,” Sandro said. “The inmates formed a huge line. There was amazement because a miracle had happened.” After his release from prison, Sandro saw It Is Written’s Spanish-language program, Escrito Está. He called the phone number on the screen and before long was studying the Bible with an It Is Written Bible worker.

Sandro said, “My life has completely changed. I met Jesus as my Savior. I was baptized, and am now a part of the church. I was guided by Escrito Está and the Bible workers who gave their time to share the gospel with me.”
