WHAT IS CRITICAL THINKING?
Critical Thinking is the objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgment. This skillset includes analysis (separating a whole into parts to discover their underlying connections or relationships), standards applications, discrimination of researched viewpoints, information seeking behaviors, logical reasoning, prediction and transforming that knowledge.

IHMVCU AIMS TO “BUILD BETTER” THROUGH DATA GOVERNANCE April is the start of Data Governance in Action for all team members across the organization. We’re happy to see that so many of you have completed all training for this first phase of data governance. Now it’s time to act; let’s talk to our members about the benefit of good, clean data, and make sure that those 12 fields from your training are spotless. We’ve developed a new dashboard, DoG, which is available at analytics.ihmvcu.net. DoG gives us the complete picture of data quality for our first targeted cleanup, as well as overall test scores complete with the questions and answers. This new dashboard provides high level metrics for each of the areas of concern, as well as a page dedicated to YOU. We’ve developed a page that lists all members that you have a connect with and any basic information that needs to be cleaned. The next time that you engage with a member, you’ll have easy access to the data fields you need to verify. Jordan and his team have thoroughly enjoyed visiting everyone and spreading the good data governance word (and handing out some sweet SWAG)! The Analytics Team will regularly visit everyone in the organization (with SWAG, food or prizes in hand) to help with anything related to data, analytics or governance.

TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT Jenna Lardner
Business Intelligence Engineer
Hi, I’m Jenna Lardner. I started working for IHMVCU as a Business Intelligence Engineer last October. Originally from Rock Island, I moved out-of-state to attend the University of Michigan where I earned my BS in Neuroscience. Three years ago my husband Ethan took a job in the Quad Cities and here we are. With both families from the area, we’re glad to be back! Prior to coming to IHMVCU I was a Marketing Analyst for Isabel Bloom while completing my Master of Business Analytics from the University of Iowa where I’ll graduate this Spring. In my free time I enjoy biking, camping, playing on a few recreational sports teams and trying new foods. I have several bike camping trips planned for the summer, including a tour of wineries in the southwest part of Michigan. I’ve been trying to train my chocolate lab, Lily, to ride in a child stroller that attaches to the back of my bike. So far - she’s not a fan. I’m a Board member for the Village in Bloom Art Festival, in particular the Treasurer and Volunteer Coordinator. The Village in Bloom Art Festival is a free event held every May in the Village of East Davenport. I’ve learned a ton in my first six months at IHMVCU and I’m excited about the opportunity to help build our analytics possibilities!
