TRANSFORMING THE FUTURE: THE MEANING OF COMMITMENT FOR THE NEW MEMBERS OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Interview with Anne-Laure Thomas, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at L’Oréal, and Vincent Dubois, President of DLPK, both new members of the IÉSEG Foundation’s management committee.

Anne-Laure THOMAS, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, L’Oréal

Vincent DUBOIS, President, DLPK IÉSEG 1997

As new members of the Foundation’s Management Committee, what is the meaning of your commitment?

Anne-Laure Thomas: I am honoured to join the Foundation as a member of the Management Committee. The values upheld by the Foundation resonate with my own commitment. We know that there are gems everywhere, brilliant young people who just need a helping hand to make their dreams come true. Seeing this

potential hindered by financial obstacles or complicated life circumstances is, for me, unacceptable in 2025. That is why I am delighted to join a Foundation that breaks down these barriers. Promoting inclusion in higher education is also a clear investment in the future. When we train the leaders of tomorrow, the entrepreneurs and managers of our companies, it is vital that they come from all walks of life. Greater diversity in our student bodies is not just a nice idea, it is a tremendous strength: it brings new

ideas, a better understanding of the world and, above all, it prepares organisations to be more resilient, more inclusive and more innovative.

Vincent Dubois: When I was asked to join the IÉSEG Foundation’s management committee, my answer was obviously ‘YES’. For me, this commitment is the logical continuation of my strong connection with IÉSEG. As a graduate, the School has had a profound impact on my career path: five intense, formative years during which I forged lasting friendships. Today, my closest associates are also graduates of IÉSEG: the School is at the heart of our professional and personal history. This commitment is also perfectly in line with the Foundation’s objectives. I am particularly sensitive to the issue of equal opportunities. The value of passing on knowledge is also essential: contributing to excellence by helping students continue their studies at leading universities is something that is very close to my heart. In my role with the Foundation, I intend to act as an ambassador: promoting its activities, contributing my sector expertise and establishing new connections within my ecosystem.

What is your vision for the Foundation?

Anne-Laure Thomas: I see the Foundation as the driving force behind diversity and inclusion at IÉSEG, an essential pillar for the School to be a benchmark for its academic excellence and social commitment. I want it to open the School’s doors to all talents: joining IÉSEG should be a question of potential, not wealth.

I also see it as a place where tailor-made support is developed: mentoring with inspiring professionals, workshops to develop key skills, and a helping hand with professional integration. We have a duty to continue promoting these stories, to measure the impact of our actions and to publicise them known. The Foundation must be the spokesperson for these successes in order to demonstrate in a realistic way how making higher education inclusive and accessible can help transform the world.

Vincent Dubois: Deployment and multiplication are the two words that come to mind. The Foundation’s purpose is undeniably well-founded, its convictions are solid, and the relevance of its mission is well established.

But for its impact to be fully realised, one of the conditions is to give ourselves the necessary means to raise funds. As members of the management committee, we must work to structure these resources so that the Foundation can extend its impact on an even larger scale and realise the full potential of its missions.

A YEAR OF IMPACT

Thanks to your commitment, the past year has transformed every action into a memorable highlight. Immerse yourself in the key moments that have contributed to our impact.

An emotional New Year’s reception

The IÉSEG Foundation’s New Year reception, held on 21 January 2025, highlighted the School’s ongoing commitment to social openness and equal opportunities. The presentation of the 2025 scholarships was the highlight of the evening, evoking many emotions, during thematic round tables, as did the speeches given by those students who were beneficiaries.

The students were able to testify to the direct impact of the Foundation’s support on their education and the achievement of their ambitions. Nicolas Wallaert, a 1995 graduate and CEO of Cofidis Group and Cofidis France, awarded the first Cofidis scholarships to 40 students to support them in their studies and make equal opportunities a priority. The Foundation took advantage of this event to unveil its first activity report and website.

“Making a donation to the IÉSEG Foundation means helping talented young people at the School to achieve their dreams.”
Nicolas WALLAERT, Chief Executive Officer of Cofidis Group and Cofidis France IÉSEG 1995

The Foundation’s impact beyond France

The first international donations mark a turning point for the Foundation. Thanks to the active presence and essential local support of the international corporate relations team, contributions have been received from the United States, Montreal, Hong Kong, Singapore and Belgium, among others.

This support demonstrates the scope of our mission to promote social openness and equal opportunities, inspiring the confidence of a foreign community mobilised by these same values.

This initial international momentum strengthens the Foundation’s influence and encourages it to pursue its ambition: to offer everyone the means to build their future Make a difference anywhere in the world!

Donations in kind: 80 computers from the Boulanger Foundation and L’Oréal to support the success of IÉSEG

The IÉSEG Foundation has continued its commitment to combating digital inequality thanks to an inspiring partnership with the Boulanger Foundation and L’Oréal. This collaboration has enabled us to benefit from an exceptional donation of 80 computers, specifically intended for students at the School who face the digital divide.

In a context where access to a reliable IT environment is a factor in academic success, this donation is particularly important. This highperformance equipment provides practical support to students in their studies, enabling them to study in good conditions. By joining forces, the Boulanger Foundation, L’Oréal and the IÉSEG Foundation are demonstrating that it is possible to have a lasting impact and promote the independence and success of the School’s students: a model of solidarity that echoes our values of social openness.

Excellence Program: revealing talent on the international stage

The Excellence Program is the gateway to the world’s academic elite. It allows the most deserving IÉSEG students – those who combine exceptional motivation with outstanding academic results – to study for a semester or a year at prestigious partner institutions such as Harvard University, Columbia, Yale, the London School of Economics and many others. With a very limited number of places available, the selection criteria are extremely demanding. The Foundation’s Excellence Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a comprehensive assessment of academic re-

sults, motivation and social criteria. In 2025, around ten students from the School were able to benefit from this unique opportunity.

Funding for the IÉSEG’s weekend: promoting access for all

Continuing its commitment to equal opportunities, the IÉSEG Foundation funded the participation of several scholarship students in the School’s traditional IÉSEG’s weekend, thereby removing financial barriers. Scholarship students were able to enjoy this highlight of student life, an important milestone that promotes class spirit, new friendships and community involvement.

Summer Programs: equal opportunities continue during the summer

Summer Programs are a long-standing summer event, and this year, IÉSEG wanted to give this program a new dimension by incorporating an ‘Equal Opportunities’ initiative. This initiative was made possible thanks to the support of the Foundation and its major sponsor, the Cofidis Group, which is deeply committed to issues of inclusion and social openness.

The aim? To offer an inspiring experience to high school and university students on scholarships and to break down the barriers of self-censorship.

From 7 to 18 July 2025, thirteen talented individuals took the plunge into the world of

management. The program included business and management classes in English, exclusive exchanges with professors and international students, cultural visits and key meetings with companies to develop their professional ambitions. A means of creating a springboard that will have a lasting impact on these young people’s academic and professional careers.

“IÉSEG wanted to give a new dimension to its Summer Programs by incorporating an “Equal Opportunities” scheme.”

COFIDIS GROUP AND IÉSEG FOUNDATION: AN ALLIANCE OF TRUST FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

The support of Cofidis Group, the first major sponsor to commit to a three-year partnership, marks a major turning point in the history of the IÉSEG Foundation. Having become a ‘mission-driven company’ in 2024, the online financial services specialist is convinced that social background should never be a barrier to talent and is turning its promise into action: removing financial obstacles to enable every student to fulfil their potential. This approach resonates deeply with the career path of Nicolas Wallaert, its CEO, himself a graduate of IÉSEG. Interview.

Cofidis Group is the first major sponsor to commit to a three-year partnership with the IÉSEG Foundation. What motivated this decision and this desire to make a long-term commitment?

Above all, it is a story of proximity and shared values. Like IÉSEG, Cofidis Group has historical roots in the Hauts-de-France region. From Villeneuve d’Ascq, where we have nearly 3,000 employees, we now operate through twelve subsidiaries in nine countries. But the deciding factor was our purpose: since last year, we have been officially recognised as a ‘mission-driven company’. Inclusion and supporting young people in their professional integration and access to employment are at the heart of our commitments. When we met the Foundation, we realised that we were perfectly aligned. We wanted to go beyond one-off support to build, together, a sustainable program promoting equal opportunities.

“I am an IÉSEG graduate myself and come from a modest background. Removing financial barriers for these talented young people is a commitment that resonates with my own journey.”

Three shared commitments

1. Before enrolling: support and immersion thanks to summer programs, visits to secondary schools, organisation of career forums, visits to IÉSEG campuses, etc.

2. During schooling: financial support through ‘Equal Opportunities’ scholarships, which cover 75% of a student’s tuition fees.

3. Joint mobilisation to develop equal opportunities: organisation of joint events such as round tables, scholarship awards, etc.

The Cofidis Group is known for its financial services. Why did you choose education and equal opportunities to embody your values?

Inclusion and diversity are in our DNA. For example, we were the first to create a professional disabled cycling team, alongside our men’s and women’s teams. We wanted to bring this same commitment to inclusion to the field of education. We know that many young people have the potential and desire to succeed at IÉSEG but are faced with financial barriers. Our role is to reach out to them. This involves democratising information in secondary schools but, above all, removing economic barriers.

Your initiative begins in secondary schools with the ‘Summer Programs’. Why this comprehensive approach?

Because self-censorship is the first obstacle. In France, social mobility works, but we need to make that known! It is crucial to go into secondary schools to tell young people from modest backgrounds: “It is possible, this School is open to you!” IÉSEG trains those who can bring about change based on a strong human dimension. By intervening early on, we give them the confidence they need to take the plunge.

In 2025, 55 students will receive a Cofidis scholarship. Beyond the numbers, what does this mean to you?

It echoes my own story. I am an IÉSEG graduate myself and come from a modest background. At the time, I had to finance my studies with a bank loan. I know the weight of these sacrifices. Knowing that today, my company is enabling 55 young people to pursue the same excellent education without having to overcome the same financial anxieties is a source of immense satisfaction. It proves that our commitments translate into concrete actions that change lives.

IÉSEG students received the Cofidis scholarship in 2025. 55

How is this sponsorship perceived by your internal teams?

It is a commitment that unites us internally. It is received with great pride. Knowing that we are collectively working for the future of these young people strengthens their commitment to our corporate project.

A message for companies or alumni who are still hesitant about supporting the Foundation?

Don’t hesitate, get involved! It’s a great cause that has a direct local impact. Here, we are training those who will shape the world of tomorrow. To businesses, I say: join this collective movement. We need as many people as possible in order to amplify the Foundation’s impact. And I would add a message to graduates: remember what the School has given you. Now is the time to ‘give back’ a little of what we have received.

THREE PLAYERS: COLLECTIVE STRENGTH MULTIPLIES YOUR IMPACT TENFOLD

For over 60 years, IÉSEG has set itself an essential challenge: to train tomorrow’s changemakers to be responsible, curious and agile. This challenge is embodied in its distinctive educational project, ‘Becoming’, which places human transformation at the heart of the learning experience.

“The Foundation is one of the essential levers that contributes to the realisation of this educational project: accessibility to higher education and quality education for all!”

The Foundation, the power of community

The Foundation is committed to social openness by opening the doors of IÉSEG to students from all backgrounds through its ‘Equal Opportunities’, “Excellence” and ‘Entrepreneurship’ scholarships. It connects three players in an ecosystem of mutual support and innovation: the School, donors and beneficiary students.

1.

IÉSEG

ITS IMPACT : supporting the personal, professional and civic transformation of each individual throughout their life, placing human development at the centre of all its efforts.

2.

Donors

THEIR IMPACT: enabling students to access quality education and pursue their studies with peace of mind.

3. Beneficiary students

THEIR SUCCESS: becoming agents of change, committed to society and, in turn, supporting the Foundation’s mission.

READY TO BE AMAZED BY YOUR IMPACT?

Behind every bold ambition, every project and every success story, there is decisive support. The life scholarships that our donors make possible are passports that open the doors of equal opportunity, academic excellence and entrepreneurship to our beneficiary students. This is the essence of the tripartite relationship that unites us.

These young women and men are the tangible faces of the impact of your commitment.

Whether focused on the need for equal opportunity, the demand for excellence or the desire to be entrepreneurial, their journeys are proof of the value of your trust. Your support transforms their ambitions into success.

How has receiving this scholarship impacted your daily

“Receiving this scholarship was a game-changer during my five-month university exchange in Santiago, Chile. As I was financing my studies with a student loan, this support covered part of my daily expenses while I was there and gave me real peace of mind.

I am infinitely grateful to the Foundation and its donors, whom I thank from the bottom of my heart: your help is invaluable in enabling all students, regardless of their situation, to succeed in their studies at IÉSEG.”

If you had to sum it up in one sentence, what was the main impact of the Foundation’s support on your entrepreneurial project?

“Thanks to the IÉSEG Foundation, I was able to bring my I2F Student Services project to life. It was born out of a real-life experience: my arrival in France, like that of many international students, was fraught with administrative difficulties. Visas, admissions, finding accommodation... These procedures are stressful and can paralyse a study project.

I2F Student Services provides practical support to international students and ensures they have a smooth and stress-free transition to life in France. The Foundation has been instrumental in providing I2F with the legal structure and visibility it needs to reach the students who need it most.

How did receiving a scholarship for excellence boost your motivation and confidence in your abilities?

“Receiving this scholarship was a deeply emotional moment, one of immense pride and gratification that validated years of hard work. It is a form of recognition that gives me positive responsibility: to stay the course, redouble my efforts and surpass myself every day. It is also a personal relief: it puts a stop to the imposter syndrome I was suffering from. Seeing my abilities recognised gives me confidence.

Beyond this psychological boost, this scholarship makes it possible for me to spend a year at the LSE (London School of Economics), which is an incredible opportunity. It also completely frees me from financial stress. Being able to focus solely on my studies is a tremendous opportunity. A huge thank you to all the donors who enable us to give our best in our studies.”

How does receiving this scholarship influence your professional ambitions?

“Receiving this scholarship is a strong signal from the IÉSEG Foundation, one of commitment to supporting its students in programs of excellence. I am deeply grateful for this assistance, which gives me the means to achieve my ambitions.

My experience at LSE (London School of Economics) is a powerful springboard. It propels me towards my professional goal: to work in finance, more specifically in the highly selective fields of mergers and acquisitions.

This scholarship is a direct continuation of my professional aspirations and a starting point towards achieving them.”

How has this assistance from the IÉSEG Foundation had a concrete impact on your daily life and your mental wellbeing?

“Last year, the Foundation’s assistance was crucial for me. My dream was to join IÉSEG while undertaking a parallel admission course, in the first year of my Master’s degree. Coming from a precarious family background, the financial burden was a major obstacle. I was looking for a student job, which created considerable pressure and mental strain even before I started classes. When I learned that I was going to receive the ‘Equal Opportunities’ scholarship, I felt immense relief.

Thanks to this scholarship, I was able to devote myself fully to my studies. This is where equal opportunities really come into their own. At the same time, I was lucky enough to receive a donated computer. Having access to technology on an equal footing with other students is essential for success. By offering these two types of support, the Foundation and its donors saved the first year of my Master’s degree. They gave me the desire and the means to invest myself fully in my studies. A huge thank you to everyone for their generosity.”

DONORS, WHY YOU SAY YES TO IMPACT?

At the IÉSEG Foundation, we have a deep conviction: social openness is a desire and a commitment to open up new possibilities for our students. To turn this conviction into reality, we can count on the support of our donors, which goes beyond mere generosity. It is a bond forged with each of our beneficiary students, enabling them to look to the future with confidence and, quite simply, to believe in it.

In 2025, you chose to support the IÉSEG Foundation. Your donations contribute to a collective project: that of a socially open School committed to training the talents of tomorrow in all their diversity. We are proud to carry this project forward with you.

A huge THANK YOU for your generosity and commitment.

They express a shared vision, a strong bond with our community and genuine trust. Your donation makes it possible to pursue paths, aspirations and initiatives that promote equal opportunities, excellence and entrepreneurship.

We are delighted to continue this momentum alongside you to keep on making an impact, nurturing our talents and realising great ambitions. So thank you to everyone!

Every gesture matters, every commitment is valuable: why did you choose the IÉSEG Foundation?

“Our commitment is above all a tribute to our family. Lucy studied for a Master’s degree in Management for Sustainability, a subject that was very close to the heart of our mother, Lorraine, who was head of sustainable development and director of circular economy for a large American company. Following her passing, we wanted to honour her memory in a concrete way that was in line with her values.

We wanted to pay tribute to her by helping future students to follow the same Master’s program as Lucy, by removing financial barriers. This is the very essence of equal opportunities. Inspired by the American tradition, we organised a fundraiser that mobilised our friends and family. The result exceeded our expectations. It is a wonderful way to pay tribute to our mother and give IÉSEG students who are passionate about sustainability the means to achieve their ambitions.”

Why

the IÉSEG Foundation? What message would you like to convey to others who are considering supporting it?

“My commitment to the IÉSEG Foundation is first and foremost a very personal one. My youngest daughter is currently in her second year and we have many ties to the School: a dozen children in our circle have studied or are studying there. It was through this proximity to the School that I

was approached and decided to get involved. There comes a time in life when giving becomes more important than receiving.

For me, the meaning of this donation is to contribute to fundamental actions, particularly in the field of education, to enable equal opportunities. I also want all students who want and deserve it to have access to excellence. Helping them in a practical way feels really good. If I had to convey a message, it would be to invite everyone to ask themselves about their individual role in society. We all have the opportunity to change the course of events and make a positive contribution. It is up to us to take action, to influence, to decide what needs to be done and to get involved.”

Why

support the IÉSEG Foundation? How would you like to see your donation make an impact in the future?

“As a IÉSEG graduate, I have always followed my School’s development with great interest. I am particularly enthusiastic about its progress, its openness in every sense of the word, and its keen understanding of training for business. For me, supporting the IÉSEG Foundation is an excellent investment. I am very sensitive to the three areas supported by the Foundation, particularly equal opportunities. Coming from a modest background myself, this area is particularly close to my heart.

Beyond my personal background, it is essential to give all students a chance, regardless of their origins. Excellence is a necessary pillar for the future of graduates. Finally, having been an entrepreneur myself, I deeply believe in the importance of entrepreneurship in education. My wish is simple: that my donation will make a tangible contribution to accelerating the development of these three areas. I would like to see the IÉSEG Foundation continue to promote equal opportunities in order to attract diverse talent, maintain and strengthen academic and research excellence, and encourage the entrepreneurial spirit of its students.”

Bernard-Raphaël LEFEVRE, IÉSEG 1975

You are a donor to the IÉSEG Foundation. What does that mean to you?

“Being a donor is above all a way of supporting the initiatives of the IÉSEG Foundation. As a graduate, I have fond memories of my years at the School.

It is this deep attachment that drives me to get involved and show my gratitude.

I am particularly sensitive to the focus on entrepreneurship, because having dared to become an entrepreneur myself, I know how demanding and exciting it can be.

Supporting this momentum means ensuring that future graduates will have the means to realise their most daring dreams.”

Marc LE BLAN, IÉSEG 1973

Your generosity in donating computers contributes to tangible successes in terms of social inclusion: what does this mean for you and the Boulanger Foundation?

“Our approach is guided by our raison d’être: ‘connecting women and men with each other, using their full potential, through human encounters and technology.’ This guiding principle informs all our actions and has led us to forge a strong partnership with the IÉSEG Foundation. While our brand already enjoyed a special relationship with the School, thanks to the many employees who are graduates, a new bridge has been built through the meeting of our two Foundations. We want technology to bring people together, not isolate them.

This is a major issue in France: according to the latest sources, it is estimated that more than 300,000 young people do not have a computer to complete their studies. Technology can bring ease and comfort, but it can also create a huge social divide. Facilitating higher education is a key objective for the IÉSEG Foundation, which we share at the Boulanger Foundation. It is with this in mind that we have set up the computer donation program. This commitment makes sense in terms of social openness: enabling every IÉSEG student to fully realise their academic ambitions.”
