he Ward 6 Forum, hosted on February 1st by Just San Bernardino, the League of Women Voters, and KVCR Public Media, spotlighted the critical issue of housing affordability as San Bernardino County's median home price soared by 12.9 per-

cent to a record $519,500. The forum featured Incumbent Kimberly Calvin and Candidate Mario Flores, with Bessine Littlefield Richard absent.

Moderator Lupe Camacho expressed gratitude to the participants, “We received an email today stating that Bessine Littlefield Richard will not be

able to attend tonight's forum. We made every effort to reach out to the candidates ahead of time. So, thank you for Councilwoman Calvin and Candidate Flores for being here this evening.” During the forum, the candidates shared their visions and addressed the pressing issue of

housing affordability.

Councilmember Calvin emphasized her roots and commitment to the community, "I feel like I've been serving all of my life because as a young girl on the west side of San Bernardino there have been Ward 6 cont. on next pg.

Barton Elementary fourth-grader Aaron Caballero was presented with an Outstanding Student Award by the San Bernardino City Unified School District Board of Education.

n November, the Board of Education presented the Outstanding Achievement Awards to students, parents and staff of Barton and Gomez Elementary Schools, Arrowview Middle School and San Gorgonio High School (San G). The Board recognizes Outstanding

Student Award winners to honor excellence in academics, athletics, fine arts, citizenship and most improvement. The Board also presents the Outstanding Parent/Grandparent/Volunteer Award and Outstanding Employee Award to individuals who embody the District’s dedication to student achievement and well-being. Barton Elementary School, Principal Dr. Janice Gordon:

Aaron Caballero is a fourth-grader and Outstanding Student. Caballero is a model student for his peers and the definition of a Barton Bulldog by being respectful, responsible and safe. As ASB class president, he leads by example. His quiet but confident demeanor shines when he makes announcements. Caballero wants to become a lawyer.
