Valley Youth House raises over $304,000, Auctions off custom Martin Guitar, to support Vulnerable youth in the Lehigh Valley

Submitted by SARAH PAMMER Valley Youth House’s “Setting the Stage with Rod Stewart” event raised $304,000 to support youth and families in the Greater Lehigh Valley region. The evening began with a reception at Allentown’s Renaissance Hotel, during which community leaders and Valley Youth House alumni shared remarks highlighting the crucial work carried out each and every day at the agency. Chris Martin (executive chairman, C.F. Martin & Co. Inc.) and Thomas Ripsam (president and CEO, C.F. Martin & Co.

Inc.) were recognized as the event's distinguished honorees. Co-chairs Vicki Doulé (Lehigh Valley executive vice president, community impact and market development, Capital Blue Cross), Laurie Hackett (corporate and community relations, Air Products), Matthew Kenendy (director of custom shop sales, administration and support, C.F. Martin & Co. Inc.) and Ken Telfort (corporate vice president, business process excellence, B. Braun Medical Inc.) were also recognized for their leadership of this event. During the reception, a cus-

tom-made D-28 Martin Guitar with a Valley Youth House mother-of-pearl inlay custom pickguard was also auctioned off. The D-28 was fully crafted and donated by C.F. Martin & Co. Inc. Egg hunt brings Smiles and spring spirit to Allen Township

By KERI LINDENMUTH Allen Township welcomed spring in an “egg-citing” fashion as more than 70 children enjoyed festive goodies, fun photo booths and a visit from the Easter Bunny himself during the township’s first municipal egg hunt. The egg hunt, held at the township’s fire and municipal complex on Saturday, March 21, marked the return of the event, which had previously been hosted by the township’s Fire Department and Auxiliary. Children between the ages of 1 and 10 were cheered on by family members as they raced to fill their baskets with as many eggs as they could. Participants in each age group—1 to 3, 4 to 6 and 7 to 10—then “hopped” over to the prize wagon, where they redeemed their eggs for Easterthemed toys and treats like candy,

plushies and pinwheels. The fun didn’t end once the eggs were gathered, though. Children had the opportunity to explore the township’s Public Works and fire rescue vehicles up close, take family photos at colorful photo booth stations created by Public Works and township staff, and enjoy hot dogs and other refreshments provided by the Fire Department.
