Bath Borough launches America 250 celebration with ribbon Cutting ceremony

By HOME NEWS STAFF Two Lower Nazareth Township men were killed Sunday evening in a head-on crash during a winter storm along Route 191, also known as Nazareth Pike. Colonial Regional Police responded around 5 p.m. Feb. 22 to the intersection of Nazareth

Pike and Gradwohl Switch Road for reports of a serious two-vehicle collision. According to Police Chief James DePalma, a Chevrolet pickup truck and a Subaru collided on the wet roadway. The drivers, identified by the Continued on page 2

By SAVANNAH BROWN Bath Borough officially launched its America 250 celebration with a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the start of a yearlong commemoration of the nation’s 250th birthday. Held on Presidents Day, the event signaled what organizers described as a historic moment for the borough, which predates the founding of the United States. Bath Borough Council President Frank Hesch told attendees that Bath was established in 1737, 39 years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence

and has “been around for every page of every chapter in the story that is America.” “The purpose of tonight is to formally kick off the Borough of Bath’s yearlong celebration of America’s 250th birthday,” Hesch said. “What a better day to hold our kickoff than on Presidents Day.” Hesch said the America 250 Committee decided early on that the celebration would extend beyond a single event. Rather than “just throw a party,” the committee chose to create a lasting, physical tribute that would reflect community pride and serve future generations.

That vision led to plans for the America 250 Trailhead, which will be constructed at the main entrance to the borough’s developing park trail system at 1737 Park, formerly known as Ciff Cowling Field. The site is part of a master park plan Continued on page 5
