SERVING UP SMILES AT RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE

On 12th November, a dedicated group of Ideal Foundation volunteers rolled up their sleeves for the Ronald McDonald House Family Dinner Night. Our team prepared and served a delicious menu of chicken bao buns, followed by chocolate brownies and ice cream.

The kitchen was buzzing as we spent a busy few hours cooking and serving meals to families staying at the Grafton Mews House. The smiles and gratitude from residents made every moment worthwhile — a warm reminder of the comfort a home-cooked meal can bring during challenging times.

We left with full hearts and an even greater appreciation for the incredible work Ronald McDonald House Charities does to support families with children in hospital.

NEW IDEAL FOUNDATION SPONSORS THREE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE ROOMS

Ronald McDonald House Charities® New Zealand has been strengthening thousands of New Zealand families with a child in hospital since 1989. The Ronald McDonald House programmes provide muchneeded practical relief for families free of charge – providing a place to sleep, organising family meals, and being a friendly ear to listen on tough days. But they cannot do it alone.

As hospital stays, treatments, and surgeries continue to rise each year, so does the need for their services. RMHC® NZ relies on the support of the entire community and fundraising to provide additional accommodation. They’ve never turned a family away and are determined to keep that promise.

To help meet this growing demand, the Ideal Foundation will be taking part in the RMHC® NZ sponsorship program, sponsoring rooms at their Houses in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, starting February 20th. Room sponsorship enables the Ideal Foundation to engage directly with the RMHC® NZ and families while providing much-needed financial support. This sponsorship ensures that Ronald McDonald House Charities New Zealand can help those families in need.

MATES IN CONSTRUCTION

MATES in Construction has one simple but hugely ambitious aim – to reduce the number of lives lost to suicide in the construction industry. The MATES programme builds and strengthens workplace communities and across the industry – helping our people support and provide an environment that encourages positive wellbeing. The impact of this community-based approach then goes beyond the workplace and into our everyday lives.

MATES in Construction NZ was put forward by Marley NZ Ltd, one of our Ideal Foundation Champions, to be the recipient of a $5,000 donation from the Ideal Foundation. By nominating this charity, Marley hopes to help raise awareness, provide crucial support services, and foster a safer, more supportive environment for everyone in the construction industry. Partnering with Mates in Construction aligns with the Ideal Foundation’s commitment to making a meaningful impact in the community.

KURA KAI PROGRAMME WITH AQUINAS COLLEGE

At Aquinas College, the students passionately support the Kura Kai programme, which involves making meals for those in need in our community. This programme has become a significant part of student learning and is making a substantial contribution to the local community. With the growth of the programme, the food technology department requires more cold food storage and other equipment. Aquinas College reached out to the Ideal Foundation to secure funding for these items. The Ideal Foundation made a donation of $2,500 to support the college in achieving its aspirations of making a positive impact on its students and the broader community.

LED FOR BLUE LIGHT

Blue Light is a registered charity that aims to help the Police achieve its youth and community objectives by providing pro-active initiatives to meet a key target market. Blue Light works in partnership with the police to deliver an extensive range of youth programmes and activities so that young people avoid becoming an offender or victim of crime.

Blue Light is currently working on their Blue Light Environmental Sustainability Project. This project focuses on providing ongoing education on sustainability and the environment for their youth participants, as well as reducing electricity costs, and carbon footprints at their Youth Centre in Papakura and our Youth Camp at Awhitu.

The Ideal Foundation agreed to donate the value of $1,500 to support Blue Light in replacing all their lightbulbs at facilities with LED bulbs.

IDEAL FAMILY & FRIENDS WELLBEING WEEK!

This December, the focus is on our Ideal Team. The Ideal Family & Friends Focus Week is an initiative over the first week of summer to nurture our people. An opportunity to get together with our nationwide network of branches and do activities to promote wellness.

Keep up the good work even after work! Everyone’s needs and preferences are different. Whether it’s spending time with people or spending time by yourself, find what works for you.

IDEAL ELECTRICAL AND THE I AM HOPE FOUNDATION

Through our ongoing partnership with Mike King and the I Am Hope Foundation we will be supplying a small pack which contains some books and resources for staff and customers. Mental health impacts everyone and the I am Hope Foundation has kindly provided some material to support the wider Ideal family.

As part of our partnership with Mike King and I Am Hope/ Gumboot Friday, the Ideal Foundation is able to provide access to free counselling for any young person in New Zealand aged 25 and under, which includes our Ideal Team and their relatives. Pick your preferred counsellor from their team of professionals. They are ready to listen and support you, and it won’t cost a thing.
