THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED In Pursuit of Passion
Travel can teach you many things, but for me, the most exciting part was becoming part of a community and living life in a different country.
M. Scott Peck’s book The Road Less Traveled sold millions of copies and stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for over twenty years. I read it soon after it was published in 1977 and found it very inspirational. Its opening sentence, “Life is difficult,” is central to the message. Accepting this helps you grow and mature as you move through life. When you expect challenges, you can achieve more than when you assume everything will be easy.
As much as this book spoke to me, I didn’t realize that, as I journeyed through life, I would encounter so many of its hidden gems and words of wisdom firsthand. In fact, I’ve taken less-traveled roads so often that it’s almost become my mantra—to do what almost couldn’t, or in some cases, shouldn’t be done.
I first visited Ireland in the summer of ’77 with one of my sisters. We stayed with our grandmother, great-aunt, and great-uncle in a thatched cottage in Renvyle, County Galway, overlooking the wild Atlantic Ocean. It felt like stepping back in time, which was both exciting and a little scary. My mother thought we needed to get away from the plight of being American teenagers. She had spent her formative years living there and wanted to share her love of Ireland with us. As we were being shooed out the door, she said, “It will be good for you!”—her way of saying she hoped we wouldn’t fall prey to being, well, a teenager in the States. Feeling almost comatose from jet lag, we were greeted by “Grandma” and one of the few neighbors who owned a car. The four of us squeezed into a VW Beetle with our luggage for the four-hour drive to our summer home. The scenery was stunning: green hills, farmland bordered by old stone walls, and fields full of donkeys, horses, cattle, and sheep. We quickly adjusted and helped my uncle
bale hay, watched him herd cows, and even saw two calves born one night that he named after my sister and me. We explored every day until almost midnight, since the sun sets late in summer. With our grandparents on my father’s side, we visited Galway and Dublin, met more family, explored ancient castle ruins, and saw the beautiful Cliffs of Moher. But we always loved coming back to Renvyle. We fell in love with the place and have fond memories of our relatives there. That first trip left a lasting impression that would influence many chapters of my life.
Many years later, after our mother passed away, my family inherited a real Irish stone cottage we called the “Maggie-Marty Cottage.” It had been passed down to our mother by her aunt Maggie, and now we were its caretakers. The memories from my first visit returned as we entered this new phase. At the time, we had been publishing VIE for six years, and I was heartbroken by my mom’s death. She brought light wherever she went, and everyone loved her gentle, kind spirit. I didn’t know how to handle my grief. I hoped that by creating something in Ireland, I could honor her and our ancestors, and share our love for this special place.
We opened a small satellite office of The Idea Boutique®, VIE’s publishing house, in the nearby town of Clifden. Our cozy office had a bubbling brook below the back window and a clear view of the town’s church bell tower. Opening this office was another step on my less-traveled road, blending family heritage with business pursuits. We started publishing Connemara Life magazine (ConnemaraLife.squarespace.com), which was published annually for four years. It was a wild ride that taught us a lot, and I really enjoyed it. We were grateful to be welcomed by the community—they called us the “yanks” or “blow-ins” and thought we were a bit crazy, but they appreciated our determination. Sadly, we closed the office in 2018 and sold it the
following year. Looking back, I’m glad we did, since Covid-19 arrived just over a year after that.
Conducting business in a foreign country and having the bandwidth to travel extensively and often was a big undertaking. But I learned a lot and am a stronger person for having travailed. It was an experience I don’t regret and would do again given the chance. When you know from the get-go that life is hard, the challenges placed in front of you won’t always feel like impossibilities. If you view life as an adventure, you will win some and lose some. The moral to my story is—a fulfilling and exciting life won’t be found unless you seize it with all the gusto you can.
Seize life fully, savor each adventure, and celebrate the journey with passion, resilience, and heart.
To Life!

IN THIS ISSUE, WE ASKED THE CREATIVES: IF YOUR FAVORITE DESTINATION HAD A PERSONALITY, WOULD IT BE THE TYPE TO PLAN EVERY DETAIL, OR TO DRAG YOU INTO UNEXPECTED ADVENTURES?
CAROLYN O’NEIL
Writer, “A Legacy Reimagined” @carolynoneil
Rome! Rome’s personality invites you to plan a few “anchors,” such as booking a reservation for an afternoon food tour or timed entrance to see the Sistine Chapel. But Rome also talks you into leaving time to wander its neighborhoods, such as Trastevere, a charming bohemian district on the banks of the Tiber River, where locals drink, dine, and yes, even dance in the streets. Another happy happenstance was walking by a little shop on a quiet side street filled with brightly colored clothing with a 1950s vibe by Tina Sondergaard. I bought a golden yellow jacquard coat that’s perfect for traveling when you need a pop of color over jeans or a simple black dress.
Writer, “What’s the Best That Could Happen?” @meghanryanasbury
My favorite destination, Paris, likes planned time to do nothing because that either leads to resting or an unexpected adventure. One time, that meant wandering down a side street with no expectations and stumbling into a tiny café with incredible food and the best glass of rosé I’ve ever had! We didn’t have a plan for that afternoon, but it turned out to be the highlight of the trip. I think that’s the best way to discover a place like Paris.
CAITLYN BURRUS
Assistant Editor of VIE @caitlynburrus
If my favorite destination had a personality, Miami would absolutely be the one pulling you off the itinerary and into something unexpected. There’s an energy to the city that feels spontaneous by nature, like no matter how much you plan, it always has something better in mind. When I traveled there for Art Basel Miami Beach with
VIE, I had a full schedule mapped out, filled with gallery openings and installations, but some of the most memorable moments came from stepping outside the schedule. One afternoon, what started as a quick stop turned into an impromptu visit to an immersive installation on the beach called Library of Us, where I found myself in conversation with a range of creatives and gained a deeper appreciation for art. It’s that kind of place, effortlessly blending art, culture, and connection, where the unplanned becomes the highlight, and you’re always glad you went along for the ride.
Editor of VIE @jordanstaggs
It’s difficult to choose a favorite destination! I love fast-paced outings and trying different pizza spots in New York just as much as taking in the serene landscapes and art scene in the Swiss Alps. But I’m going to say Edinburgh, Scotland, because it’s fresh on my mind from a recent trip that’s highlighted in this issue! I think the city is spontaneous because it’s so walkable, but it wants you to plan some key experiences. Edinburgh Castle tours sell out quickly, so get your tickets in advance! A few highlights of my time there were the Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour, Islander UK handbag-making workshop, and catching a movie at the adorable Scotsman Picturehouse—all things booked in advance. From historical or Harry Potter-themed tours to whisky tastings, the city has a lot of varied experiences to offer, so I’d say book ahead for some things to match your interests, and spend the rest of the time exploring at leisure. Having a tour guide to navigate the Old Town’s winding streets, alleys, and closes could be priceless so you don’t miss hidden gems like the Writers’ Museum!

RETURNS Grace REIMAGINED with RENEWED
NH COLLECTION MALDIVES REETHI
NH Collection Maldives Reethi Resort, Baa Atoll’s long-standing retreat cherished by generations of guests, has been transformed into a fresh expression of Maldivian hospitality following an extensive refurbishment and rebrand. As the resort enters a new chapter, its enduring legacy has been reimagined for a modern-day traveler seeking meaningful discovery, with 105 transformed villas, refined restaurants and
bars, dedicated family spaces, kids’ facilities, and a serene spa, all set within the elegantly landscaped natural island of Fonimagoodhoo.
The eco-friendly sanctuary treats the UNESCO-protected biosphere reserve it calls home with utmost respect. Every element is carefully considered, from sustainable construction materials to minimizing waste across operations and a newly planted garden supplying the kitchen with herbs and villas with fresh blooms, promoting self-sufficiency and a deeper connection to local flora.
Villas
Positioned to frame the ocean, modern villas embrace nature through details such as open-air showers while expressing a refined vocabulary of contemporary design. Calming interiors, with warm neutrals offering a soothing contrast to the riot of colors outside, remain grounded in the landscape through the extensive use of natural materials such as timber and bamboo.
Thatched-roof beach villas face the sunset and lie just a short swim from the house reef. Opening directly onto soft sands lapped by brilliant blue waters, they come in a range of configurations, including a two-bedroom family option with a private plunge pool and sundecks. The one-of-a-kind Reethi Suite, spanning 1,614 square feet, is tucked away in its own garden paradise on a secluded stretch of beach. The suite’s deck overlooks a long private pool and the open ocean beyond, which is especially awe-inspiring at sunrise.
Meanwhile, thirty overwater villas, hugging the isle’s northern tip in a gentle crescent, gaze out onto nothing but open ocean, delivering a deep sense of tranquility. Inside, guests are immersed in Maldivian artistry, with exquisite design elements crafted by in-house artisans using recycled materials.
Experiences
are in for a treat. Just offshore, the house reef teems with angelfish, clownfish, reef sharks, and sea turtles, while only fifteen minutes away, the world-famous Hanifaru Bay—the planet’s manta capital—hosts seasonal gatherings of majestic manta rays and giant whale sharks. Romantics will love the sunset cruise, complete with refreshments and moments made for the lens (and the reels).
On dry land, languid afternoons are spent soaking up the rays by the ocean-facing swimming pool, while youngsters forge new friendships at the newly expanded kids’ club, complete with indoor and outdoor play areas and a shaded family pool. Wellness-minded guests will find fully renovated recreation facilities with state-of-the-art equipment and covered sports areas, perfect for enjoying an exciting game no matter the weather.

Dining
Equal parts breezy and refined, the resort’s eight restaurants and bars ensure guests are never short of options. All-day dining venue Jumla serves creatively reimagined global flavors, while signature grill Alifaan tempts with prime steaks and seafood in a rustic beachfront setting. Kaiyo, perched overwater with 360-degree ocean views, is an ode to Asia, and at Madumaithiri, wholesome comfort foods of pizzas, burgers, healthy wraps, and salads are the order of the day. With just six tables, Caravela is an exclusive, reservations-only experience of inventive cuisine and rare wine pairings drawn from the resort’s cellar, catering to oenophiles and offering sommelier experiences. For casual dining, Atardecer pairs flamingo-hued sunsets with tapas, cocktails, DJ sets, and fire shows. Splash Bar focuses on healthy lunch options, and Handhuvaru bar presents a singular experience—rum aged in the embrace of the ocean.
As part of the resort’s signature “Adrift” experience, couples can embrace the magic of Maldivian romance with private dining experiences on a secluded sandbar, a moonlit beach, or in the privacy of their villa. A Love Letter to Edinburgh
By Jordan Staggs
cotland is a place that lingers in the soul. Some foreigners might even feel it there before they visit, providing inspiration, wild beauty, and mystery through photos, literature, and film, just waiting to be discovered in person. Many Americans can trace their ancestry back to the UK’s rugged coastlines, moors, and highlands, and if you tell your friends you’re planning a trip, chances are several of them might tell you which clan their relatives once hailed from. For me, a topof-the-bucket-list trip became reality this spring, and we’ll be sharing moments from it in a series of stories throughout VIE’s summer issues, starting with this one.
Easily the highlight of my time in Scotland—although there were many incredible moments—was spending a few days exploring the capital city of Edinburgh. Its more “modern” history can be traced back to the early Middle Ages, but humans have inhabited the rocky hills just off the North Sea since the Mesolithic era. The Old Town, which now includes some of the capital’s most well-known sites, such as the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle, began forming in the twelfth century, though most of its iconic winding streets, alleys, and multi-story stone buildings of today were built throughout the 1500s-1600s. Can you guess when the New Town was built? For us Americans, the idea of anything “new” being built in the 1700s is enough to get a laugh.
f you’re looking for a luxury stay in Edinburgh with all the Scottish charm, The Balmoral is the premier hotel. A monument unto itself, the 1902 building on the edge of the Old and New Towns was originally the North British Station Hotel, as it sits right above Edinburgh Waverley train station. The clock in the hotel’s signature tower is even set three minutes fast—historically so passengers had a few extra minutes to ensure they caught their trains. The five-star Rocco Forte hotel’s 187 guest rooms, including 20 suites, boast luxe Scottish heritage design by Olga Polizzi, Irene Forte skin care and bath products, and stunning vistas of Old Town, Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street, the Scott Monument, and more.
Although ultimate luxury is the name of the game at The Balmoral, it’s balanced by a warmth and hospitality that make travelers feel welcome and comfortable from the moment they step into the grand lobby. A fire crackles in the hearth while the doormen greet both new and returning guests, assist with luggage, and direct you to accommodations or meeting rooms, the Palm Court tea room, the Brasserie Prince, or the SCOTCH Whisky Bar (which holds over 500 unique varieties of Scottish whisky from distilleries in the Highlands, Lowlands, Islands, Islay, and Speyside).

meal at Brasserie Prince is not to be missed while staying at The Balmoral or even just visiting Edinburgh. It celebrates a blend of French-style cuisine and Scottish ingredients, from seafood to fresh produce, all in a lively, upscale tavern setting. Executive Chef Paul Hart and his team shine alongside the friendly front-of-house staff. Standout dishes included: the fruits de mer featuring Scottish oysters, langoustine, scallops, Eyemouth crab, prawns, and Balmoral smoked salmon; confit de canard; venison tournedos with Scottish wild mushroom, foie gras, and truffle; gnocchi au gratin (my top pick); halibut with Jerusalem artichokes; espresso tart with pralines; white chocolate and rhubarb meringue; and even a white chocolate ice cream topped with Osietra caviar. Indulgence is the order of the day, no matter what time you visit—but don’t worry, you can walk off the calories while heading out for a nightcap or exploring the city the next day.
Edinburgh Castle is, naturally, a must-do if it’s your first visit. The medieval structure stands proudly above the city and served as the seat of Scottish power from the time of Malcolm III in the eleventh century until the mid-1600s. Book your tickets in advance, because they tend to sell out, especially in the busier seasons. Inside its walls, you’ll find a small community of structures, including battlements and barracks, the royal banquet hall, dungeons, and residences where figures like St. Margaret, Mary Queen of Scots, and Oliver Cromwell once lived. Some highlights include the Scottish Military History Museum, St. Margaret’s Chapel (the oldest building in the city), the Honours of Scotland crown jewels, and Mons Meg, a massive medieval war cannon gifted to King James II by the Duke of Burgundy in the 1450s. While Mons Meg has long been retired (thankfully), visitors can still see and hear the one o’clock gun fired from the Argyle Battery every day except Sundays, Christmas Day, and Good Friday.

hile the castle is certainly the most famous landmark in Edinburgh, the city’s museums and cultural sites expand far beyond it—and most of them are free to visit! The National Galleries of Scotland in Edinburgh are all complimentary except for special events and collections, including the National Gallery, two Modern Galleries, and the National Portrait Gallery. The Royal Botanic Garden, spanning seventy acres north of the City Centre, is one of the premier botanic gardens in the world, dating back to the seventeenth century and still home to important research conducted daily.
Another free museum that is worth a quick visit is The Writers’ Museum, tucked away just off the Royal Mile. Visitors can find it by ducking into Lady Stair’s Close—a close in Old Town Edinburgh is the word for the narrow, historic alleyways that lead to inner courtyards, townhomes, pubs, and stairways to other levels of the hilly city. There are dozens of them, mostly named after historic residents or figureheads. Lady Stair’s Close will take you to Lady Stair’s House, a quirky seventeenth-century townhouse named for one of its residents, Elizabeth Dalrymple, Dowager Countess of Stair. Now home to The Writers’ Museum, the townhouse is open for visitors to explore and enjoy the works and histories of Scottish authors Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, and Robert Louis Stevenson.
If you couldn’t guess, literature is kind of a big deal in Scotland, and Edinburgh celebrates it wholeheartedly through a plethora of museums, monuments, bookstores, and more. Even Edinburgh Waverley station is the only train station in the world named after a book—Sir Walter Scott’s Waverley novels. One of the most entertaining ways to learn more and immerse yourself in the history of literature in the capital is the Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour. Guests will join their intrepid tour guides on a jaunt through Old Town to enjoy a series of stories, recitations, and, yes, drinks! (EdinburghLiteraryPubTour.co.uk)
For the film aficionados or anyone looking for a short break from all the walking, the Scotsman Picturehouse offers a unique, adorable cinema experience. This hidden gem can be found within The Scotsman Hotel and features plush red seating, art deco details, and a charming lounge area perfect for sipping a beverage while you wait for your movie to start. This was an excellent afternoon sojourn for resting tired feet after a busy morning of exploring and climbing many hills and stairways. Wuthering Heights (2026) was the feature of the day, which seemed to perfectly encapsulate the mix of history, literature, and pop culture Edinburgh is known for.
“IF YOU COULDN’T GUESS, LITERATURE IS KIND OF A BIG DEAL IN SCOTLAND, AND EDINBURGH CELEBRATES IT WHOLEHEARTEDLY.”
The Writers’ Museum celebrates the lives of Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, and Robert Louis Stevenson. If you look down while outside, you’ll find quotes from many notable Scots etched into the paving stones (right).

peaking of pop culture, any Harry Potter fan will surely know they have to visit Victoria Street, whose sloping pedestrian street is lined with colorful shops and restaurants that inspired the famous Diagon Alley in J.K. Rowling’s novels. You can even pop into The Elephant House cafe’s Victoria Street location for a Butterbeer! All around the city, we ran into Harry Potter-themed tour groups, saw gravestones with names like McGonagall and Thomas Riddell, found a dedication to the author outside the Edinburgh City Chambers, and took a peek into the J.K. Rowling suite at The Balmoral. Just looking around the city’s many spires, historic buildings, and castles, it’s easy to see how both the author and film production teams were inspired to create the now-iconic Wizarding World.
While the City Centre has much to see and do, don’t miss a short jaunt over to landmarks such as Calton Hill, where you can explore monuments and the Calton Café with an incredible view of Edinburgh and the sea beyond. Arthur’s Seat is also a famous spot for vistas, especially popular with those who love to hike (go at sunset for a truly breathtaking scene!). And for another literal walk through history, visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official royal residence of Scotland. The ruins of Holyrood Abbey are something to behold, while the palace, gardens, and the King’s Gallery offer even more art, history, and culture within Holyrood Park.
Across the city, Dean Village is a popular stop for a morning walk on your way to the National Galleries or Royal Botanic Gardens. The picturesque former millers’ village is bisected by the Water of Leith, which powered its eleven mills until the nineteenth century. Grab a drink and biscuit from the Edinburgh Coffee Bike in the village and then stroll along the Water of Leith Walkway, which reveals a network of monuments, viewing points, historic architecture, and gardens.
Like most of Edinburgh, the pathway feels like a secret, just waiting to lead explorers to something unexpected and beautiful with every turn. It’s truly a city of discovery, where past, present, and future converge in a way that teaches visitors about themselves, too. For those whose ancestry traces back to Scotland, or who find inspiration in its nature, history, and art, regardless of heritage, I leave you with this quote by Sir Walter Scott, etched in stone outside The Writers’ Museum: “This is my own, my native land.”
After a few days soaking in all the history, literature, and beauty of Edinburgh’s City Centre, consider taking a day or two to visit Leith, the city’s coastal suburb to the north. We’ll see you there in the next issue of VIE! Head to VisitScotland.com and RoccoForteHotels.com/hotels-and-resorts/the-balmoral-hotel to start planning your trip.

A New Folklore
The twenty-first-century architecture of clothing, defined by the natural world, inspires the Fall-Winter 2026 Louis Vuitton collection by Nicolas Ghesquière. Mountains, forests, and plains converged with instinctive human reactions to and interactions with our climate and surroundings—for endurance, protection, and freedom—to become fashion. In a heightened view of that which surrounds us, the silhouettes are defined by life in nature, a language beyond any we could imagine. Today, it is necessary to reinvent this connection, reinterpreting the natural within the context of a digital world. The collection is not an escape from our realities, but an echo of them: a new folklore for the future.

FINALLY MAKING IT OUT of the GROUP CHAT
HEADED to THE BEACH CLUB
A redhead, a brunette, and two blondes walk into The Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. Now that’s not the start of a joke, but the beginning of a perfectly curated coastal escape.
ucked into Mount Pleasant along the edge of the harbor, this waterfront retreat blends Southern tradition with a breezy, coastal sensibility. With suitcases in tow, blankets draped around necks, and travel clothes slightly wrinkled from the six-plus-hour car ride, the group arrives just as the salt air rolls off the harbor.
Nestled next to the historic USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier, the first impression is all soft hues and views for days. Wide porches stretch toward the water, palms sway through the breeze, and the architecture
nods to classic Lowcountry design without feeling overly traditional. Stepping into the lobby feels like entering a coastal clubhouse, its furnishings creating more of a gathering space than a pass-through.
Inside, the guest rooms feel like a thoughtfully designed retreat, with airy interiors and coastal textures that aren’t overdone. It’s the kind of place— and we surely did just this—where you drop your bags and immediately step out onto the balcony, because the view is just that good, with part of it filled with the iconic Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge.
uring a girls’ trip, a big make-or-break factor in choosing a hotel is the size of the bathroom. Being able to house four girls and their straighteners, curling irons, and massive makeup bags is key. Not only are the bathrooms at The Beach Club big and bright, but everything is thoughtfully laid out—double sinks with extra-long vanities, plenty of room to spread out, a deep soaking tub, and a separate walk-in shower—so on a night where we’re cutting it close to a reservation time, everyone is able to keep it moving. And speaking of bright, the lighting inside the bathroom and bedroom is unreal, which is rare for hotels! It’s soft and natural but bright enough that you can get ready confidently without secondguessing how you’re about to look outside.
favorite feature of The Beach Club is how it’s a perfect fit for everyone in the friend group. Here, there are four friends, which means four personalities:
First, there’s the planner, the one who has everything timed to perfection. She has the color-coded itinerary, reservations, and backup plans if something falls through. Nothing is missed on her watch. She’s in heaven here because everything is easy to organize, from poolside cabanas to spa appointments and the ferry schedules into Charleston. She even has the assistance of the hotel staff to solidify plans.
Then there’s the go-with-the-flow friend. She has zero preferences or expectations and is just happy to be there. Oh, we’re going skydiving? Sure thing! We’re going swimming with sharks? You bet! They’re down for whatever the group decides. At The Beach Club, everything is walkable, low-stress, and very flexible. She can grab the group lounge chairs, order some food at The Reel Bar or The Bridge Bar, and maybe see if bikes are available to ride around the marina.
Next is the wild card. She’s unpredictable in the best way! This friend is bringing random ideas to the table, whether that’s cool dive bars to try, staying out late to get the best ice cream in town, or taking spontaneous detours down alleyways to hidden gems. The planner and the wild card tend to have a hard time together! She’ll gravitate toward the pool bar, sunset drinks overlooking the harbor, or even taking the last-minute shuttle into downtown.
Last but not least is the relaxer. They just want to chill. Think of spa days, naps, lounging by the pool, slow mornings with breakfast coming by room service, and skipping a few of the planned activities to recharge. The Beach Club is where she thrives. Everything she wants is at her fingertips.
here are two bars on the property, which makes it easy if the group wants to stay on site. The Reel Bar has a super laid-back vibe, with live music, quick, easygoing cocktails, and even a small man-made beach section to hang out on and walk around barefoot. So you can tell this one doesn’t have a dress code!
The Bridge Bar gives the opposite energy. It’s the only rooftop bar overlooking the entire Charleston skyline, so the views are one of a kind. This is your get-dressed-up, take pictures, order-a-cocktail spot. It’s open-air, breezy, and just feels more elevated.
“As the four of you turn to walk back to the room, ready to go through all the photos from the weekend, the next question isn’t just where you should go next, it’s how soon you can all do it again.”
hen you need a full meal of Southern coastal cooking, The Beach Club also has The Charleston Harbor Fish House. It’s located right under The Bridge Bar! All the classic seafood dishes are there, and how much fresher can it get than being right on the water? For someone like the planner or the relaxer, having everything only a few steps away is all you can ask for.
Before you know it, it’s the final night together. The dinner bill is paid, and there are drinks in hand as you’re heading down the dock. This is where the energy shifts. The conversations get a little deeper and more nostalgic. You go over all your favorite memories, not just from the trip, but of the twenty-year friendship. There are tons of
“I can’t believe we…” and lots of “Do you remember when…” moments of reminiscing. Someone inevitably says, “Wait, this is so pretty,” as the sun sets, turning the sky pink, and boats make their way into the marina. As the four of you turn to walk back to the room, ready to go through all the photos from the weekend, the next question isn’t just where you should go next, it’s how soon you can all do it again.
To Alisyn, Heather, and Lindsey—here’s to twenty-plus more! <3

To the TEMPO of the City
A STAY in the
SKYLINE
There are trips you take, and then there are trips that feel like they’ve been waiting for you.
or my sister and me, New York City was six years overdue. Six years of “We need to go to New York,” of saved screenshots and sharing videos, of outfits imagined before reservations were even made. The kind of trip that builds in your imagination over time until it becomes something bigger than just a getaway, it becomes a story you’re already nostalgic for before it even begins.
When that day finally came, New York didn’t ease us in. It never does. It pulled us straight into its
rhythm—fast, electric, and unapologetic—and we were ready for it.
Our home base was Tempo by Hilton NY Times Square, a stay that felt perfectly in sync with the city itself. Set within TSX Broadway and just steps from the glow of Times Square, the hotel rises above it all, close enough to feel the energy but high enough to escape it when you want to. It’s a balance New York rarely offers, and one Tempo seems to have mastered.
By CAITLYN BURRUS | Photography Courtesy of TEMPO BY HILTON NEW YORK
The lobby at Tempo by Hilton NY Times Square offers a frontrow seat to the energy of Times Square, where floor-to-ceiling views blur the line between indoors and the electric city beyond.
Opposite: Elevated moments throughout
e stayed in a corner suite on the fortieth floor, and from the moment we walked in, it felt like the moment. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrapped the corner of the room, pulling the skyline in from every angle. During the day, the city stretched endlessly, with layers of buildings fading into the distance and the edge of Central Park providing a soft green contrast in the middle of it all. But at night, the view transformed into something entirely different. Times Square lit up in full color, glowing and shifting and alive in a way that felt almost unreal.
We found ourselves lingering at the windows more than we expected, halfdressed before plans, music playing in the background, watching the city as if it were performing just for us. It was one of those rare travel moments where you don’t feel the need to rush out the door, because you’re already exactly where you want to be.
The hotel’s welcome set the tone instantly. Delivered to our room was a spread of wine and charcuterie. It wasn’t overdone, just intentional. And that same feeling carried throughout the stay. The staff moved with attentiveness, always present but never intrusive, making everything feel seamless in a city that’s anything but calm.
Top: A corner king suite at Tempo by Hilton Times Square frames sweeping, curved views of Times Square, making it an unforgettable way to wake up in the heart of New York City.
the property, from Highball, the hotel’s vibrant bar and restaurant, to thoughtfully designed lounge spaces that invite guests to linger above the bustle below.
f course, no New York trip, especially a sister trip, is complete without a night on Broadway. Just steps from our hotel, we made our way to the Ambassador Theatre for Chicago. Watching Whitney Leavitt take the stage as Roxie Hart brought a fresh energy to a classic production. She was sharp, confident, and completely captivating. It was one of those moments where everything clicks, where the anticipation, the setting, and the company all align perfectly.
And like any good New York night, it didn’t end there.
We stepped back out into the city, still buzzing from the performance, and followed the pull of the streets to Dutch Fred’s. What we ordered felt almost too perfect for the moment; their “Happy Meal”— essentially “girl dinner”—is a lineup of arugula
Caesar salad, truffle fries, and an espresso martini. It felt equal parts effortless and indulgent. We sat there longer than planned, laughing, recapping the night, and letting the city carry on around us.
Back at Tempo, the energy shifted into something a little more refined, but no less inviting. At Highball, the hotel’s signature restaurant and cocktail lounge, the experience felt curated without ever feeling forced. The cocktail program, crafted in collaboration with mixologist Derek Brown, leans into both classic and contemporary, with spirited and zero-proof options that mirror each other in flavor and complexity. It’s elevated but not intimidating.
We ordered drinks that tasted as good as they looked, paired with dishes that leaned into comfort with a polished edge, truffle-parmesan fries, and rich, savory bites that made it easy to linger late into the evening. And linger we did, because places like this aren’t meant to be rushed. We enjoyed winding the night down slowly, one conversation at a time.
But the real magic of the trip lived in the in-between moments.
ornings started slow and relaxed, with a stop for coffee at places like Ralph’s Coffee, where everything feels cinematic in the most understated way. We’d grab our drinks and walk with no real destination, letting the city decide for us. Some days led us through Central Park, where the pace softens just enough to notice it. Others turned into long, unplanned strolls along Madison Avenue, slipping in and out of stores, trying on pieces we didn’t need but fully convinced ourselves we did.
And yes, we made the stop that every girl who grew up watching Sex and the City has to make—the Carrie Bradshaw House. Standing on those steps felt a little surreal, a little nostalgic, and entirely necessary, but also a little bit like stepping into a version of New York that taught us how to romanticize the everyday in the first place. It proved that some trips aren’t just about where you go, they’re about who you get to be while you’re there.
think that’s what this trip really was: a collection of moments that felt both timeless and entirely our own. It made us want to hug our younger selves from six years ago, and we’ll be talking about it for a long time.
New York has a way of pulling you into its chaotic rhythm, but at Tempo, we found a space where we could experience everything fully without ever feeling overwhelmed. It was a stay that let us move with the city, match its energy, and escape the hustle all at once.
Six years in the making, it was everything we had hoped for—and more.

There’s a version of summer that doesn’t revolve around pace or predictability. Positioned within the Himalayan rain shadow, Ladakh brings a sense of place, alongside a slower rhythm of travel .
—SHAKTI HIMALAYA
Shakti Ladakh reopens in May 2026 for a season shaped by high-altitude desert landscapes, ancient monastic festivals, and the kind of cultural access that most travel doesn't offer. Running through September, itineraries can be timed around Ladakh's most significant ceremonial calendar: the Yuru Kabgyat Festival (19–20 June) at Lamayuru Monastery, with its sacred masked dances; the Hemis Festival (24–25 June), Ladakh's largest annual celebration honoring Guru Padmasambhava; and the Ladakh Festival (1–15 September), a regional program of polo, archery and cultural performances across the valley. Guests stay in restored village homes across Nimoo, Stok, and Likir—private, chef-staffed, and rooted in place—rather than hotels.

NAPLES BEACH CLUB, A FOUR SEASONS RESORT
BY CAROLYN O’NEIL | PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF NAPLES BEACH CLUB, A FOUR SEASONS RESORT
While the magnetic pull to grab a front-row view of the majestic pink and purple sunsets of Southwest Florida hasn’t changed over the decades, the stage has been rebuilt with the opening of Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort.
ore than a luxury hotel, this brand-new property on the site of the beloved Naples Beach Hotel represents the rebirth of a coastal legend. Stretching across 125 lushly landscaped acres with 10,000 feet of pristine white-sand beach, the Naples Beach Club blends “Old Florida” nostalgia with modern international appeal and amenities.
The new Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort inspired by the elegance of Old Florida
New Life in Old Naples
To understand the soul of Naples Beach Club, one must look back to 1946. That was the year Henry B. Watkins Sr. purchased a modest beachfront inn and an adjacent golf course. For three generations, the Watkins family operated the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club as a community living room. It was a place where locals celebrated weddings, families returned every Spring Break for years, and the sunset-watching salute to the day became a tradition.
The hotel sadly closed its doors in 2021, but new owners, The Athens Group, MSD Partners, and Four Seasons, promised to honor the old property’s history while elevating the experience for new generations through an entirely new development.
The iconic golf club, first laid out in the 1920s, remains a lush green centerpiece, now an 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed course.
The original hotel’s Sunset Bar has been revived, ensuring that the ritual of trying to catch the “Green Flash” as the sun disappears below the water remains part of the Naples experience.
“Stepping through the doors of Naples Beach Club is like stepping into a world of relaxed tropical glamour.”
Named for Henry B. Watkins, HB’s on the Gulf remains the only true beachfront restaurant in Old Naples. The new interior is open and breezy, designed to blur the line between the dining room and the white-sand beach, emphasizing its role as the premier spot for fresh seafood and sundowner cocktails.
Glamour on the Gulf
Stepping through the doors of Naples Beach Club is like stepping into a world of relaxed tropical glamour, but don’t miss the interior details by award-winning Champalimaud Design.
Views extend past the vaulted ceilings of bleached pecky cypress to tall windows overlooking an umbrella-dotted terrace that leads to the pools and the beach. Just off the lobby, The Merchant Room, the hotel’s signature restaurant, features striking hand-painted murals of local flora and fauna, starring groups of pale pink flamingoes.
Florida wildlife remains an inspiration throughout the 220 rooms and suites. Each guest room door is adorned with an artful brass knocker cast in the shape of a sea creature, including seahorses, scalloped shells, and sea turtles.
Inside, the rooms echo “Coastal Chic” with a design palette of creams, soft blues, and sandy taupe reflecting the sky and sea beyond.
Deep terraces with ample seating serve as outdoor living rooms for reading a book or watching seabirds take flight. Whether you are waking to the sound of lapping waves or retreating after a day in the sun, the guest rooms with luxurious bathrooms and generous walk-in closets are a haven.
Relaxed lobby decor welcomes guests.
Florida on the Menu
Whether you’re in the mood for a morning latte with a scrambled egg burrito at the Naples Trading Company or a tropical cocktail and shrimp tacos at the Sunset Bar, the dining options at the Naples Beach Club range from casual poolside to candlelit elegance.
The Merchant Room, the brasserie-style restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, led by James Beard Award-winning Chef Gavin Kaysen. Sip a martini at the bar and then choose from dry-aged steaks, house-made pastas, and coastal seafood dishes such as Tuna Carpaccio or Seared Red Snapper in a coconut curry broth.
HB’s on the Gulf is steps away from the sand and sea with a “crudo and coal” menu philosophy featuring both raw bar and wood-fired seafood and meats.
Located in the resort’s Market Square, you’ll find a grab-and-go selection of provisions and plates at the Naples Trading Company, from artisanal sandwiches and salads to Florida-themed specialties such as Orange Blossom Vanilla Cold Brew and, of course, Key Lime Pie.
Soon to come in late 2026 is The Wager, a gastropub with a four-lane bowling alley and a games room, designed to be a social hub where everyone can unplug from their devices and enjoy vacation time together.
One thing is for sure: you’re never too far from a culinary treat, even when you’re lounging on the beach or by the pool. Service staff circulate with complimentary treats such as fruit smoothie shots, banana bread bites, and fruit skewers.

Laps of Luxury
While a swim in the surf or a run along the beach are always options for fitness on the go, the debut of The Sanctuary at Naples Beach Club is a transformative new opportunity for next-generation wellness.
The 30,000-square-foot, three-level retreat with 13 treatment rooms, a 75-foot rooftop lap pool, a FRAME Pilates studio, and a 24-hour fitness center is designed by celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak.
Highlights include innovative recharging experiences, luxury skincare, and the 3,200-square-foot aqua therapy thermal journey featuring an ice room, aromatherapy steam rooms, a sauna, and cold plunge zones.
Nestled in Old Naples
When wandering off property by car or via the hotel’s bicycles and fleet of electric Moke vehicles, the sites of Old Naples are minutes away. This banyan-shaded neighborhood is the architectural heart of the city, with historic cottages, the Naples Pier, and the boutiques and popular eateries of 5th Avenue South and 3rd Street South.
“Naples has always been defined by its contrasts—it is both wealthy and welcoming, manicured and wild.”
Naples has always been defined by its contrasts—it is both wealthy and welcoming, manicured and wild. Naples Beach Club captures this spirit and sets a new high-water mark for sophistication, in a setting that invites guests to enjoy local cuisine, golf, the spa, or the best seaside spot to simply watch that golden sun dip below the horizon.

Fashion Iconography
Coach debuted its Fall 2026 collection at a runway show held at The Cunard Building in downtown New York. Evoking aspects of classic American style and casting an eye beyond Coach’s hometown of New York City, the collection evolves Creative Director Stuart Vevers’s vision of today’s youth culture and the future of fashion. The collection draws from sources as diverse as the glamour of Old Hollywood, the grit and playfulness of suburban skate parks, and the youthful classicism of high-school varsity uniforms.

LUXURY REDEFINED
in the HEART of BOSTON
THE FOUR SEASONS LEADS THE WAY
By Gerald F. Burwell
Photography courtesy of Four Seasons Hotel Boston
oston occupies a unique, almost paradoxical space in the American landscape. People often describe it as a “small” big city with a compact, walkable footprint. The city once served as the epicenter of culture and government in the United States, but has since yielded that role.
“The Cradle of Liberty” retains its deep-seated respect for its foundational role in our country’s cultural heritage. Its citizens carry a foreboding sense of self, defining the city’s enduring personality. Boston claims championships in all four major North American professional sports, while simultaneously serving as a global leader in the performing arts, with the Boston Symphony Orchestra leading that charge.
As the nation nears its 250th anniversary, Boston gears up to reclaim its status at the heart of the American story. The city will showcase its “beauty and brawn” to a global audience throughout 2026, culminating in celebrations scheduled for the coming months. Modern travelers seeking to witness this American renaissance will discover their ideal home base at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston. Situated in the heart of the city’s historic district, the hotel stands as the premier property for anyone wanting to experience the city’s absolute best during this historic milestone.
A Masterclass in Design and Atmosphere
If you’re planning a visit, make sure not to confuse this hotel with its newer sister property. The Four Seasons Hotel Boston sits at 200 Boylston Street, while the Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street is in the Back Bay. The Boylston Street hotel recently completed a major makeover, briefly closing from January to May 2023 for extensive renovations of its lobby, entrance, and public spaces.
Ken Fulk, the renowned San Francisco-based designer, spearheaded the new look, drawing inspiration from the late-Victorian architecture of Back Bay and the verdant Public Garden across the street. Fulk aimed to shift away from the often-sterile feel of modern luxury hotels and create a “grand residence” from the early 1900s, giving guests a genuine sense of arrival. This historic charm is balanced by refined modern updates; the 273 guest rooms and suites received exquisite updates in 2019 by the international firm BAMO. These rooms showcase sophisticated, traditional design, 65-inch Samsung TVs, and stunning views of the city skyline or the park. With 63 executive suites and 12 luxury suites, the property offers the ambiance of a private estate tailored for the 21st century.
Dining and Unexpected Perks
The hotel’s culinary anchor is Coterie, an intimate, brasserie-style restaurant located right on Boylston Street. With views of the Public Garden, Coterie combines New England-inspired ingredients with classic French influences. The menu highlights a refined Raw Bar, Parisian Steak Tartare, and a quintessential Lobster Roll, alongside favorites like Rigatoni Bolognese. The beverage program is equally creative, featuring botanical cocktails like “The Green Line” and “Tequila Mockingbird,” as well as “Destruction of Tea,” a clever and timely nod to the upcoming America250 celebrations.
Beyond formal dining, the hotel provides one of the luxury market’s most unique and whimsical amenities: The Vault. These small, intimate nooks tucked away on every guest room floor are stocked with an abundance of snacks, including bottled water, sparkling fruit juice, and nostalgic treats like Skittles, M&M’s, and Jelly Belly’s. The Vault delivers an unexpected, thoughtful touch that brings out the kid in every traveler, regardless of age. For families, the hotel earns praise for its family-friendly service, offering a “Mystery Closet” for kids, personalized welcome amenities, and specialized children’s menus. The fitness center and heated indoor pool on the eighth floor provide a welcoming atmosphere, complete with panoramic city views.
“Whether you are enjoying the panoramic city views from the eighth-floor pool or exploring the historic landmarks at your doorstep, the hotel offers a sophisticated blend of modern comfort and historic charm.”
Exploring the Historic District
The Four Seasons’ location is arguably one of its greatest assets, situated perfectly between the refined streets of Beacon Hill and the bustling Back Bay. For those who enjoy high-end retail and historic architecture, RH Boston is just two blocks away. Housed in a landmark 1862 building that once served as the Museum of Natural History, this 40,000-square-foot gallery features artistic home furnishings across four levels, including an indoor conservatory and park.
Just steps from the hotel is Newbury Street, Boston’s premier mile-long destination for shopping and dining. This historic stretch features over 250 shops and restaurants located within 19th-century Victorian brownstones. The street offers a diverse atmosphere: the end near the Public Garden is home to luxury brands like Chanel and Cartier, while the area closer to Massachusetts Avenue features more eclectic boutiques, salons, and cafes. If you visit during the summer, you might catch “Open Newbury,” when the street is closed to cars and becomes a vibrant pedestrian-only walkway. Frequently compared to New York’s Fifth Avenue, it serves as a vital cultural and commercial hub.
For a bit of nature, guests are positioned at the edge of two of the country’s most famous parks. The Public Garden, established in 1837, is recognized as the first public botanical garden in America. It is a manicured Victorian-style park featuring vibrant seasonal floral patterns, weeping willows, and the world-famous Swan Boats drifting across the central lagoon. Directly adjacent is the Boston Common, the oldest public park in the United States, dating back to 1634. While the Public Garden is formal and decorative, the Common is designed as a more open, pastoral space used for public gatherings and celebrations. It is home to the Frog Pond and serves as the official starting point of the Freedom Trail. Both parks are essential parts of the city’s “Emerald Necklace” park system.
A World-Class Experience Closer to Home
As the United States prepares to mark its 250th anniversary, Boston is reclaiming its position as a global cultural destination. Many travelers often feel they need to head overseas to find a true five-star, world-class experience, but the Four Seasons Boston proves that you only need to look as far as Boylston Street.
Whether you are enjoying the panoramic city views from the eighth-floor pool or exploring the historic landmarks at your doorstep, the hotel offers a sophisticated blend of modern comfort and historic charm. If you have been searching for a premier luxury experience to celebrate the nation’s heritage, you only need to consider traveling to Boston for a world-class experience. Boston is ready to show off for the world, and there is no better front-row seat than the Four Seasons.

A FRONT-ROW SEAT TO THE REVOLUTION
n 2026, Boston will once again reclaim its role as the intellectual and historical heart of the nation. As the epicenter of the U.S. Semiquincentennial (America250), the city is hosting an extensive calendar of massive harbor celebrations, historical reenactments, and global sporting events. For guests at the Four Seasons Boston on Boylston Street, this storied landscape is not merely a destination, but a front-row seat to the nation’s 250th birthday.
Maritime Grandeur and Independence
The summer’s most dramatic spectacles will unfold on the water. From July 11–16, 2026, Sail Boston / Sail250 will welcome a fleet of international tall ships and military vessels to the harbor. Highlights of this maritime assembly include a grand Parade of Sail, public ship tours, and harbor fireworks (SailBoston.com).
This nautical jubilee begins in earnest with the Boston Harborfest: America 250 Edition (July 2–4, 2026). As the city’s signature Independence Day festival, it features live music, historical tours, and the iconic USS Constitution turnaround cruise (BostonHarborfest.com). The festivities reach their peak on July 4 with the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular at the Hatch Shell. As the official “MA250 Signature Event,” it will pair a nationally broadcast concert with a titanic pyrotechnic display over the Charles River (Massachusetts250.org/event/boston-pops-fourth-of-july-fireworks).
Revolutionary Reflections and Global Culture
Beyond the waterfront, Boston offers a deeper examination of the American experiment through its foremost cultural institutions.
• Bunker Hill Day (June 17, 2026): Major commemorations will feature colonial cooking demonstrations, traditional crafts, and live performances (Massachusetts250.org/event/battle-of-bunker-hill-special-anniversary-tour-2).
• Historical Exhibitions: Throughout the summer, the Massachusetts Historical Society will display original drafts of the Declaration of Independence. Simultaneously, American Ancestors will host the Patriots of Color Exhibition, highlighting Black and Native American contributions to the Revolution (AmericanAncestors.org).
• A Global Gathering: The Boston 2026 World Stamp Show (May 23–30, 2026) will draw collectors to an extraordinary exhibition at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (Web.cvent.com/event/bbbdc1d9-e50e-44dd-8bef-eb36c9d1251f/summary).
For those seeking artistic satire, the Boston Lyric Opera presents Daughter of the Regiment, a revolutionary-themed comedy, at the Emerson Colonial Theatre on April 24, 2026 (BLO.org/daughter).
The World’s Stage
Boston’s historic resonance meets modern globalism as the city hosts the FIFA World Cup 2026. Gillette Stadium will host seven major matches from June 13 to July 9, drawing the international community to the city’s doorstep (BostonFWC26.com).
As Boston celebrates 250 years, the eyes of the world are fixed on this metropolis, exuding culture and character with a confidence that is uniquely—well, Boston!
A Sense of Togetherness
The Isabel Marant girl gang takes the night with a silhouette rooted in the archetypal Parisienne look, the effortless volumes of sleek denim jeans worn with a perfectly cut boxy leather jacket. A masculine-feminine tension runs through the brand’s Fall 2026 collection. Camionneur knits, sailor cable-knit sweaters, and aviator outerwear with oversized buttons introduce rigor, countered by the sheer transparency of tulle dresses, embroidered bustiers, and sharply plunging leather boots. Pops of red and blue bring vibrancy, while black and anthracite anchor the collection.

These, along with colorful guest rooms and curated art from local and international artists, make this grand dame of Miami an oasis that fuses the glamour and sophistication of the hotel’s iconic past with the vibrant, free-spirited heart of today’s Coconut Grove neighborhood. Mayfair House Hotel & Garden has received some of the most coveted industry awards and accolades, including Conde Nast Traveler’s Hot List and Readers’ Choice Awards, Travel + Leisure’s It List, and two Michelin Keys.
The food and beverage concepts are some of Miami’s most coveted dining and drinking destinations. The hotel’s namesake Mayfair Grill restaurant, helmed by Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli, serves cuisine inspired by Chef Rapicavoli’s Argentine roots and Miami’s diverse culinary landscape. Celebrating Coconut Grove’s Caribbean ancestry, Sipsip (named for the Bahamian word for “gossip” or “sharing news”) is a rooftop pool bar with island-inspired cocktails, an extensive rum program, a Caribbean menu, and live music.
Embracing original architect Kenneth Treister’s signature work of art that has transcended time, the hotel honors the best aspects of Mayfair’s golden age. New York-based interior design studio, Goodrich, meticulously designed each guest room to be a “small private home,” with its own terrace and living, dining, and sleeping areas, all accessible from Mayfair’s main courtyard. Guests can choose from eight room types—Studio King, Deluxe Eden Studio, Deluxe Double King, Premium Suite, Studio Garden King, Grand Luxe Corner Suite, Grand Luxe Two-Bedroom Suite, and Mayfair Penthouse—ranging from 500 square feet to 1,124 square feet in size. Guest rooms offer thoughtful luxuries, including carved wooden headboards, deep standalone bathtubs, private walled gardens, and outdoor showers. As a tribute

to the neighborhood’s inherent freedom of expression, each room at Mayfair House Hotel & Garden is unique, promising guests a new experience each time they visit. As a special touch, all registered guests are invited to begin each day with a complimentary upscale breakfast service. Served on the mezzanine in the magnificent Treister Room, breakfast is available from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, allowing guests to start their mornings in true tropical style.
The heart of Mayfair House Hotel & Garden is its vibrant and sun-filled courtyard and garden, filled with lush plantings, cascading fountains, beautiful pools, fanciful copper lighting, and sculptural architectural details. Guests enter the hotel through a large ornate wooden door that was kept and restored from the original property, and access their rooms from the outdoor corridors that surround the garden, experiencing the green oasis by day and night.
Treister’s signature archways, unique finishes, and rich decor elements have been intentionally preserved in Mayfair House Hotel & Garden today. Building on his maximalist style, the property celebrates its neighborhood’s ongoing resurgence with new modern furnishings, a curated guest room art program, and commissioned pieces created by South Florida and Caribbean artists; including glass pieces in the elevator by verre églomisé artist Jane RichardsonMack, a lobby installation by Miami multimedia artist Michele Oka Doner, and a hand-painted wall mural by Bahamian artist Angelika Wallace-Whitfield that serves as a colorful backdrop to the stunning rooftop pool. Additional art by Ryan Humphrey, Lee Clarke, Shauna Lan La, and photographer Anita Calero is highlighted in the guest rooms.

Falling for Veronica Leoni
Veronica Leoni’s Calvin Klein collection for Fall 2026 explores the hedonistic elegance at the core of the brand: the cult of the body, the satisfaction of accentuating its perfection and the obsessive quest for beauty. The collection applies a reductionist agenda where a magnified sense of precision heightens the dialogue between clothing and the wearer, conveyed through essential items: suits, trenches, blousons, coats, and dresses paired with stilettos, flats, boots, clutches, duffle bags, and tonal gloves.

THE ULTIMATE IONIAN ESCAPE
CONRAD BRINGS GREEK LUXURY TO CORFU
STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF NUMO HOTELS & RESORTS
f you’ve dreamed of a luxurious Greek escape without the hustle and bustle of cruise ships or tourist traps, you’re in luck! Conrad Corfu is slated to open in the summer of 2026 on the island’s southern coast, featuring 136 rooms, suites, and villas, over 650 feet of beachfront, and indoor and outdoor heated pools. Highlights also include a signature Aqua Piazza lagoon, lush landscaped gardens, three restaurants, two bars, a full-service wellness center, a kids club, and an open-air cinema.
From arrival through to the sea, the master plan preserves open sightlines. Anchoring it all, the expansive Aqua Piazza lagoon serves as a calm social threshold between architecture and shoreline.
The resort’s atmosphere is relaxed and luxurious, but there’s plenty of opportunity for exploration. The island’s UNESCO-listed Old Town sits about an hour’s drive away, its character quaint with small harbors, olive groves, and neighborhood hospitality. Close by, the Achilleion Palace is a Belle Époque marvel, with neoclassical terraces, statue-lined gardens, and sweeping Ionian views.
uest accommodations are spacious, beginning at around 375 square feet, with many categories offering private heated pools, jacuzzis, or access to the Aqua Piazza. With a strong focus on cultural programming, guests can expect guided local walks, culinary workshops, and outdoor cinema, among other activities. Conrad Corfu, managed by Numo Hotels and owned by the Troulis family, extends the company’s designled track record in Greece to the Ionian.
“With Conrad Corfu, we are thrilled to be collaborating once again with Hilton, while we continue our approach of building strong concepts around each place and its people,” says Spyros Kouris, managing director and partner at Numo Hotels & Resorts. “Following Crete and Mykonos, Corfu becomes our next chapter—an alliance of Greek creatives and partners to shape a unique resort that honors its majestic setting.”
DESIGN THAT HONORS CORFU’S PAST WITH A NOD TO THE FUTURE
The existing 1986 building, a bold U-plan with arcaded façades, has been reworked to preserve its cadence of arches while opening the ground plane to the shoreline.
Arrival sets the tone: a limestone-floored hall that doubles as a gallery for contemporary Greek art; a glass-roofed atrium introduces daylight and a sense of Corfu’s open squares. The path forward is deliberate: a Palladiana-style marble walkway descending a colonnade towards water. Architecture and exteriors are by Cube Concept (Lead Architects Aria Lironi and Charis Markodimitrakis; Managing Director Nikos Gryllos). Interiors are by Hotel IM (Ioanna Mitropoulou) with Place in Space Architects (Marianthi Tsomlektsi and Simos Antoniadis).
At the center sits the Aqua Piazza, a reflective lagoon for gathering rather than swimming; beyond it, an outdoor heated pool, a heated indoor pool, a long beach frontage, and specialty restaurants and bars.
In rooms, suites, and villas, a grounded palette of terracotta, stone, and layered greens is punctuated by bespoke travertine screens above the minibars and carefully scaled statement lighting. Among the resort’s highlights is the flagship four-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot villa, an ode to elegance and privacy with a custom-designed outdoor terrace.
Dining spaces extend that material language: the main restaurant carries Thebesyellow and white marble references with warm timber and planting; the central bar pairs a stone floor with a fluted tiled counter and travertine top, while woven tapestries nod to 1960s and ’70s patterns.
The spa draws on bathhouse geometry, including travertine, handmade zellige, and linen drapery, with a vitality pool, an infrared sauna, and a snow shower, plus ONAR and Swissline skin treatments.
The kids club, designed by Cube Concept and operated in collaboration with the renowned Worldwide Kids, takes the form of a treehouse-like micro-village among olive and eucalyptus trees. Its interiors use a thoughtful color framework aligned to different age groups.
A LOVE LETTER TO GREECE’S CREATIVES
At the very heart of Conrad Corfu’s concept is a deep focus on collaboration with Greek talent across gastronomy, design, and the arts. The signature fine-dining restaurant will feature a menu by Michelin-starred chef Alexandros (Alex) Tsiotinis (CTC, Athens), whose cooking translates Greek references with modern technique. The wider F&B mix includes an all-day restaurant influenced by Corfiot tradition, a restaurant by the sea, and two bars—a beachfront cocktail bar and an indoor lounge—supported by a strong Greek and Mediterranean wine list.
The property-wide art program, “Anasynthesis,” curated by Nikos Paleologos / Saint of Athens, is built on commissioned works by leading Greek artists. Kostis Velonis, H.O.P.E., Gerasimos Hatzis, Fikos, Filippos Theodorides, Magneto, Paolo Incarnato, Natalia Manta, and others place the resort in dialogue with Corfu’s layered histories. Fashion and spatial design extend to the flagship fourbedroom villa terrace and pool textiles through a collaboration with acclaimed fashion designer Sophie Deloudi.
Wellness programming includes yoga, Pilates, and TRX—offered indoors and out—plus a fully equipped gym. Spa rituals are inspired by local botanicals. Beyond the resort, the team connects guests with Corfu’s town and village life via small-group walks, culinary workshops, and gallery visits, positioning the hotel as both host and connector. The through-line is deliberate: Greek creatives collaborating to deliver a resort that upholds Conrad standards and celebrates Corfu’s unique character.
Spanning five continents with more than forty properties, Conrad Hotels & Resorts creates a seamless connection between bold design, impactful experiences, and curated contemporary art to inspire the conscientious luxury traveler. True to its founding vision, each Conrad hotel is renowned for its purposeful service that is refreshingly genuine, as well as its distinctive ability to authentically connect globally minded travelers with local cultures. The Conrad brand was established in 1982 by Barron Hilton and named after his father, Hilton’s founder, Conrad Hilton, who believed that meaningful hospitality has the power to transform personal journeys and make a positive impact, now and forever. In addition to its award-winning properties, the brand also features an expanding residential portfolio combining sophisticated design, best-in-class amenities, and purposeful service in inspiring destinations.
The resort will be managed by Numo Hotels & Resorts, a Greece-based hospitality company curating design-forward, locally rooted stays across Crete, Mykonos, and Corfu. Focused on relaxed luxury and a sense of place, Numo pairs sophisticated aesthetics with attentive service to create contemporary, destination-driven experiences.

COLLECTIVE PROSPERITY IN WALTON COUNTY
Story and photography courtesy of Walton County Tourism
n sunny Northwest Florida, Walton County Tourism is the overarching entity for a destination with incredible depth and variety. Representing everything from the sixteen beach neighborhoods of South Walton to the natural beauty and historic charm of Authentic Walton, this work requires carefully balancing tourist and resident satisfaction.
Through creative marketing, an engaging social media presence, and dedicated coordination with meeting and wedding planners, Walton County Tourism promotes the details that create an unforgettable experience for each visitor. But this work doesn’t just impact out-of-towners.
When Walton County visitors check into a hotel or rental, they’re booking a vacation while also powering a robust network of local partnerships that keep the community thriving. By stimulating visitor spending and supporting jobs, this creates an overall positive impact that residents enjoy year-round.
Visitors account for the vast majority of Walton County government revenues, saving each local household a considerable amount on taxes. In turn, Walton County Tourism uses tourism revenue to improve local communities. This includes maintenance and upgrades to beaches, pathways, public access points, parking, public transportation, and beach safety initiatives.
To amplify this ripple effect of success, Walton County Tourism leverages partner marketing opportunities that benefit the whole community, maximizing its resources so local businesses can gain high-dollar exposure for a fraction of the cost. The result? A rising tide that lifts the business climate and community simultaneously.

COOPERATIVE MARKETING PROGRAM
(CO-OP)
The Cooperative Marketing Program is an invitation for Walton County’s valued bed tax and non-bed tax collecting partners to secure premier media placements. This helps align businesses with the destination’s overarching brand narrative, enabling strategic investment in high-impact channels.
Opposite: Walton County Tourism’s activations at events and conventions across the US include interactive experiences, takehome merchandise, and more.
Walton County Tourism curates a collection of prestigious advertising opportunities, from a spread in Travel + Leisure to digital avenues like Connected TV and exclusive Southwest Airlines in-flight video placements. Walton County Tourism commits to absorbing more than 50 percent of the cost of every placement while managing creative development, ensuring a high-end result for brands.
“Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa has proudly partnered with Walton County Tourism for many years,” explains Kevin Rosa, director of sales and marketing for the resort. “For future partners, we would encourage leaning fully into both co-op and activation opportunities. The more you invest in telling the destination’s story alongside Walton County Tourism, the greater the return—not just for your business, but for the entire community.”
The annual sales period for this program occurs in May and is conducted digitally via Coop.VisitSouthWalton. com on a first-come, first-served basis. This allows partners to integrate placements into their budgets, while an always-on component is available for partners who need supplementary marketing support.
Above: Walton County, Florida, not only offers visitors South Walton’s pristine sugar-white sand and turquoise water across sixteen beach towns but also Authentic Walton’s charming beauty and historic communities to the north.
ACTIVATIONS
The Activations program transports the essence of South Walton’s twenty-six miles of sugar-white sand and sixteen distinct beach neighborhoods to a selection of high-value emerging markets. This initiative helps elevate the destination’s profile and increases occupancy during the shoulder season.
In recent years, the destination has concentrated investment in premier fall and winter markets, encouraging those in snowy cities to escape to the beach. This activation circuit has included Chicago Gourmet and New York City Wine & Food Festival, bringing Walton County charm to major metropolitan areas.
One collaborator is Seaside, one of South Walton’s most-visited beach neighborhoods.
“Participating in Chicago Gourmet as partners with Walton County Tourism… elevated our presence well beyond what we could do independently and put a spotlight on the town and the incredible culinary talent we have in Seaside,” notes Kevin Boyle, general manager of Seaside’s community development organization.
“We also walked away with meaningful connections to key media and industry partners who are highly influential within the culinary and luxury travel space. Just as important, it put us directly in front of our ideal audience (affluent, experience-driven travelers from the Midwest), where we’re seeing a clear and growing segment for Seaside,” Boyle adds.
These activation spaces are thoughtfully designed to target the discerning leisure traveler, emphasizing our breathtaking beaches and thriving culinary scene. Installations often include immersive elements, such as a photo-ready porch façade with Gulf views or an interactive mini-golf experience for the sports-loving traveler.
Each year, Walton County Tourism also invites local chefs—most recently, Chef Nikhil Abuvala and Chef Jim Shirley—and their teams to showcase South Walton’s culinary prowess at these food and wine events. As guests sample South Walton’s award-winning cuisine, they engage in meaningful conversations with destination ambassadors and take home branded mementos to keep the destination top of mind.
Walton County’s partners also attend these events, with some chefs serving as the featured culinary talent. This allows partners to engage with guests, contribute to giveaways, and expand the destination’s narrative, elevating their own brand alongside the destination’s.
“I’ve had the chance to partner with Walton County Tourism on several trips over the years as a chef and ambassador for the area,” says Chef Nikhil Abuvala, South Walton’s very own James Beard Award Finalist. “I think it helps create real awareness for the area and for the businesses in it, and I’d definitely encourage other businesses to consider partnering with them.”
“I THINK IT HELPS CREATE REAL AWARENESS FOR THE AREA AND FOR THE BUSINESSES IN IT, AND I’D DEFINITELY ENCOURAGE OTHER BUSINESSES TO CONSIDER PARTNERING WITH THEM.”

SOCIAL MEDIA AND CONTENT PROMOTION
Walton County Tourism also highlights partners across its social media, website, and video channels throughout the year. Strategic opportunities, such as shared social content, featured placement in each neighborhood’s unique First Timers Guide, or chef spotlights in the In the Kitchen with South Walton series, allow businesses to amplify their brand through a cohesive storytelling approach.
Walton County Tourism also features partners on Authentic Walton’s social calendars and weekend itinerary blogs, highlighting one-of-a-kind sites to visit, places to eat, and even more to explore.
Through these comprehensive initiatives, Walton County Tourism is dedicated to cultivating a sustainable equilibrium in which residents’ quality of life is not just protected but also enriched by tourism, the engine of our community’s economic prosperity.

With its folders project, Maison Margiela offers an unprecedented look into the ideas and values that define the fashion house, merging physical exhibitions with an evolving digital archive. Launching alongside the Fall-Winter 2026 show in Shanghai, the initiative explores four core house codes—Artisanal, Anonymity, Tabi, and Bianchetto—through a series of curated experiences across Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, and Shenzhen. Each exhibition reflects a distinct aspect of Margiela’s creative language, from couture craftsmanship and the symbolism of the mask to the enduring cultural resonance of the Tabi shoe and the house’s signature white overpaint technique. In parallel, the brand’s internal “folders,” typically reserved for studio use, are made publicly accessible for the first time, revealing imagery, timelines, and processes as the project unfolds. The result is a dynamic, layered exploration of authorship and anonymity, inviting audiences into the inner workings of one of fashion’s most conceptually driven maisons.
What’s the Best That Could Happen?
By Meghan Ryan Asbury
In the dim glow of a 2:00 a.m. feeding, my phone lit up my face as I searched yet another symptom. We welcomed our first baby at the beginning of this year, and I found myself frantically running to ChatGPT with every concern or question. Fueled by anxiousness (and probably postpartum hormones), I looked for instant answers as I feared worst-case scenarios.
Whether you are a new mom or not, it’s easy to fall into this way of thinking: living afraid and trying to find ways to avoid our worst fears coming true. Whether it’s health concerns, relational uncertainty, unknown futures, or a season of waiting, there is something to fear around every corner if we go looking for it. In our modern age, it’s easy to turn to quick internet searches for solutions and relief rather than turning to the God of all wisdom, especially when we’ve previously felt like we were met with silence when we prayed for answers.
I’ll confess, sometimes I struggle with verses like Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” It’s not because I don’t believe God keeps all His promises, but because I’ve witnessed too many circumstances when people who love Him have suffered from things I would never call “good.” Some examples include walking through yet another friend having a miscarriage, or getting the text that another family is in a medical crisis. We can all agree that none of those seems good.
It’s easy to live in a constant state of, “What’s the worst that could happen?” That’s where I found myself during pregnancy and the early days of motherhood. But during one of those late-night spirals, my husband challenged me to flip the script. Instead of assuming the worst possible scenario, what if I assumed the best?
When he suggested that, my first reaction was resistance. It felt like my job to make sure everything with our daughter was okay. The more information I had, the better. And while that is partially true, I think the heart posture of not fearing the worst was something I needed desperately in those sleep-deprived nights. I needed to let go of trying to control everything because the reality was that no matter how hard I tried, there would still be things beyond my control.
The question becomes: How do we do that? We can’t control everything—but we also can’t just “stop worrying.” So what do we actually do?
It starts with remembering this: because Jesus died and rose again, we have the greatest gift of all—hope. In the midst of a broken world, we can know with confidence that no matter what we have or will face, God keeps all His promises, even the one in Romans 8:28. He is working all things for good. This is true both right now and for eternity. “Good” doesn’t mean life is easy or comfortable; it means God is still working.
Instead of feeding our fears, we can: Pause before we react, Pray before we search, And replace “What if everything goes wrong?” with “What if it’s all okay?”
As I’ve continued to navigate the early days of motherhood, those fears have not gone away. But when they arise, I am practicing that new mindset. I am pausing, praying, and asking, “What’s the best that could happen?” I’m not avoiding what’s hard or confusing; I’m choosing to see the possible positive outcomes over the negative ones. It’s an act of faith to believe that God really has gone before me, and that He is with me. No matter what happens, I can trust in Him because He has kept every promise He’s made.
Friend, what if we took God at His word and reminded ourselves He really is working all things out for good? What if we dared to live from a posture of faith that said, “The best is yet to come,” because it is? God has given us the gift of hope beyond whatever we fear. Together, let’s cling to the fact that He keeps all of His promises.

Au revoir!
The spirit of travel and craftsmanship converge in the Louis Vuitton Escale au Mont Fuji Pocket Watch, the latest chapter in Louis Vuitton’s Escales Autour du Monde collection. Inspired by one of the world’s most evocative landscapes, the piece captures dawn over Mount Fuji, where soft pastels and rising light reflect a serene Japanese spring morning. This scene is brought to life through exceptional Métiers d’Art, enhanced by a jacquemart mechanism, minute repeater, and tourbillon. Each element works in harmony to transform timekeeping into a narrative experience. Following previous journeys through the Amazon rainforest and Paris, this latest destination continues the House’s exploration of culture and place, expressing a refined balance of technical mastery and artistic storytelling.
