Ah, Paris. The City of Light. The City of Love. Long time lottery player and sixth generation Idahoan Sean Klingler, Rigby, claimed one of the $1,000,000 prizes from the popular Idaho Lottery game, the Idaho $1,000,000
“I was at the local store having coffee and started checking some of my lottery tickets. I had eight Raffle tickets and when the clerk checked them, she told me I had won $100,000,” explained Klingler on how he found out he had the winning ticket. “I didn’t believe her. I thought maybe it was $100. Then she said to me, ‘no I got it wrong, you won $1,000,000!’ There was a lot of high fiving in the store after that!”
After he signed the winning ticket, he called his wife and daughter to share the good news, then they all drove immediately to Boise to claim his winnings late Tuesday afternoon.
“Nobody believes you at first that you won. They think you’re messing with them,” he told Lottery officials once he arrived in Boise. “That’s why we’re taking a lot of pictures here. The big check will help, too.”
Klingler plans to take a responsible approach with his winnings. He is going to pay off a few high-interest debts, buy his wife a new car, then put the majority toward his future retirement.
“I’ve been playing the Lottery for a long time,” said a joyful Klingler when he received his winnings. “You dream about winning and when it finally comes true, it’s weird.”

Looking ahead, toward the end of this month, we will celebrate the success we have enjoyed with the national game Lucky for Life. This game produced eleven winners who claimed $25,000 a year for life. One of those prizes, from a ticket sold shortly before last Christmas in Bannock County, remains unclaimed. Lucky for Life will end with a new, daily $5 game, Millionaire for Life launching on February 22nd.
Essentially, Lucky for Life is merging with another game, Cash4Life that was played in ten different states, and the combined effort has produced an exciting game with a top prize of $1,000,000 a year for life, and second-tier prize of $100,000 a year for life.

Sometimes the Idaho Lottery shows up at a school with one simple question for students: "What is your favorite thing to do at recess?"
The answers are always chaotic, honest, and hilarious. From made-up games to very strong opinions about swings, slides, and playing tag, it is a reminder that joy shows up in the smallest moments.
But behind the laughs, there is always a
secured inside of a locked strong box.
She and her husband are in the process of relocating from Boise to a new home in Payette. While working on the move, she stopped in the Albertson’s in Payette and purchased her big winning ticket.
“Winning this is going to make a difference as we make the transition moving from Boise out to Payette,” she said.
Dena said she saw a news story on the ticket being sold in Payette and begun “sleuthing” her own tickets until she found one that matched, purchased on one of her visits to Payette.
“This is just a blessing for all of us. I’m just so very thankful,” she added.
Back in October, Nick Slichter from Grangeville was on his way to a wedding one Saturday afternoon. Before leaving town, he picked up a couple of Scratch tickets from his favorite retail location, The Depot in Grangeville. Before he headed out of town, he decided to scratch the ticket.
“Usually, I just check the barcode on a ticket, but this one I decided to actually play and see if any of my numbers matched.
When he came across a winning number that matched, he uncovered the prize amount.
“I was so stunned. I immediately took a picture of it, and sent it to my wife,” said Nick.
Nick’s wife Heather was at Old Navy in Lewiston shopping with their children. He called and told her to look at the ticket.
“I didn’t have my readers so I asked one of my kids to read the ticket. They told me dad had won $200,” Heather explained. Nick asked her to take a better look at it. She handed it to one of her other kids, who said it looks like dad won $2000. Again, he said, “No, that’s not right. You really have to look at it.”
Finally, all three of them in the store struggled and looked, squinting and then Heather finally realized the amount. “Oh my gosh. You won $200,000. Is this a joke?”
Nick signed the Cash Spectacular Scratch ticket and put it in a safe deposit box for safe keeping until early January when he and Heather visited Boise to claim the prize.
A few days before Christmas, local Boise radio personality Kevin Mee was in his kitchen playing a few $100,000 Extreme Idaho Lottery Scratch tickets. As he played his ticket, he realized he had a $100,000 winner. Stunned, he told his son and then asked him to go tell his wife Brenda, who was outside working in their recreational vehicle.
When their son told Brenda, he said, “Mom come quick dad’s laying on the floor in the kitchen!” Panicked, Brenda thought something serious had happened to Kevin and she ran into the house only to discover him in a state of shock holding the $100,000 winning ticket.
Winning just before Christmas came at a good time for the couple who were having to replace their septic system for their homestead. Fortunately, the
winnings more than cover the extent of repairs and replacements needed.
“Yeah, winning, life, septic systems,” said Kevin as he paused to reflect on his Christmas win, “It happens.”

Who doesn’t want a truck in Idaho? The Idaho Lottery’s Bucks N’ Trucks Scratch game ended as a sellout in mid-January 2026. The second truck was claimed by Josh Hatfield from Idaho Falls on a ticket he purchased while traveling for business from the Super Store in Post Falls.
The Idaho Lottery will be awarding the third and final truck from a second chance draw in February.
