CANINE SECURITY SERVICES

We are a leading provider of all aspects of Canine Security services and have played a pivotal role in establishing the effective use of dogs within the private security sector. Our highly trained dogs and expert handlers boast global recognition for their abilities in detecting explosives, illegal substances, and customs violations. Operating in diverse environments from sports venues, airports to sites of critical infrastructure, our dog teams deliver bespoke solutions to security challenges. Accredited to rigorous industry standards (NCTAS-P, NPCC, HABC, the CAA, DfT and DSTL), our commitment to excellence ensures top-tier services.

MARTYN’S LAW NEW LEGISLATION

The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known as Martyn’s Law, introduces a new legal duty requiring public venues and events to enhance their preparedness for terrorist incidents. This UK Act establishes for the first time a clear baseline of protective security measures for larger premises and public gatherings.

Our Dog Teams secure a wide range of environments including iconic sites, Royal Palaces, exhibitions and events, critical national infrastructure including data centres, nuclear facilities and power stations, sports venues and arenas, transport hubs including airports, educational institutions and corporate locations

HANDLERS & THEIR DOGS

Our Handlers and Dogs are accredited to the Home Office Explosive Detection Dog Standard, the National Canine Training Accreditation Scheme – Private Security Sector (NCTAS-P) FREDDs (Free Running Detection Dogs) are accredited under the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and Redline (Aviation Security) for air cargo screening Currently working in accordance with the DfT (Department of Transport) and DSTL (Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) protocols to ensure maximum efficiency

Our Handlers and Dogs providing all other canine security services are accredited to the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) and Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC) standards:

• Drugs NPCC & HABC Level 3

• Pyro HABC Level 3

• General Purpose (GP) HABC Level 2

All ICTS Handlers are:

• DBS checked

• CTC cleared

• Background checked

• SIA licensed door supervisors

• First Aid certified

Most of our Handlers come from law enforcement backgrounds. As a result, they have a strong awareness of Police procedures and working practices, and they understand the need to maintain approachability and professionalism

The welfare of our working dogs is paramount to us All our dogs live with their Handlers. We are fully compliant with BS 8517 Parts 1 and 2, and the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and hold UK Animal Transporter Authorisation to comply with the transport of animal regulations and to guarantee the safety and comfort of our dogs when travelling

OPS & TRAINING CENTRE OUR CANINE

We provide an extensive range of training courses from our Canine Operations and Training Centre in Bedfordshire Our Instructors are experienced in their field and hold the following accreditations:

• NASDU accredited (HABC Levels 2,3,4)

• NPCC (National Police Chiefs Council)

• Military Qualifications in all disciplines

ICTS is licensed by the Home Office for the possession of controlled substances (drugs) and licensed by three separate Police forces for the acquisition and storage of explosive substances and firearms. This allows all our dogs to be trained on live substances, accurately replicating the working environment

We are an approved learning provider for the Ministry of Defence and a member of their Enhanced Learning Credit Provider List (ELCAS Centre No: 11218)

ICTS is also an approved Open College Network (OCN) Training Centre

ICTS’ CONTRIBUTION TO

THE SECURITY INDUSTRY

Our Management team is an active member of the British Standards Institute and was part of the working group that produced the guidelines for the BS8517 standard. Team ICTS was also part of the working group focusing on the Home Office National Canine Training and Accreditation Scheme (NCTAS).

ICTS has voluntarily participated in various Government (The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory / Department for Transport) trials and exercises over several years. We have participated in the Civil Aviation Authority / Department for Transport working groups.

ICTS has worked alongside the Police on operations, including Project Servator, aimed at deterring, detecting and disrupting a range of criminal activity, including terrorism, while providing a reassuring presence for the public

As members of the National Association of Security Dog Users and members of the City Security Council, ICTS continues to focus on improving standards within the wider Security Industry, by participating in joint exercises and sharing best practice

ICTS is a member of the PSHE Association, working to provide safer schools. We work in over 60 schools delivering a unique Drugs Detection Dogs in Education programme, designed by ICTS.

We are proud to work in partnership with the Medical Detection Dogs charity. ICTS collaborates in several ways with the charity, including but not limited to, facilitating joint canine first aid training, dog-related data collection and charity fundraising.
