As we close out this historic year, it’s clear that the story of IBEW Local 103 is only gaining momentum. Our 125th anniversary was not just a celebration of our past, it was a testament to the unity, skill, and purpose that define who we are today.

From the first streetlights that illuminated Boston to the skyline that continues to rise, our members have built more than buildings, they have built opportunity. The anniversary celebration at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center was a night none of us will forget, bringing together thousands of members, retirees, families, and friends. It was a powerful reminder that when labor stands together, we shape the future of this city. Now, with the next chapter ahead, our focus turns to growth: creating more good union jobs, expanding pathways

into our apprenticeship programs, and ensuring that every project bearing IBEW 103’s mark reflects the highest standards of safety, training, and excellence. The work ahead will not always be easy, but history has proven what we can accomplish when we stand together. Thank you for all you do to keep our great union strong, proud, and moving forward. Powering Boston For 125 Years IBEW 103 members, elected officials, friends, and family filled the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center to celebrate 125 years of powering Boston. It was an unforgettable evening filled with good food, music, and laughter. We were honored to be joined by Governor Maura Healey, Mayor Michelle Wu, Senator Ed Markey, and NHLPA Executive Director Marty Walsh, who helped mark the milestone in true Boston fashion. In a special moment, Mayor Wu officially declared September 13 as IBEW Local 103 Day in the City of Boston. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. Here’s to 125 years of solidarity and to the generations of IBEW 103 members who will keep building Boston’s future.

Patriots vs. Buccaneers Viewing Party IBEW 103 members and their families filled Gillette Stadium for a Patriots away game viewing party, coming together to cheer on the team as they faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Before kickoff, members took to the field to throw touchdown passes, snap photos in the end zone, and meet Pat Patriot and the Patriots Cheerleaders. At halftime, we held a raffle that gave several lucky winners the chance to take home autographed Patriots gear, including helmets, jerseys, and footballs. This has become a favorite annual event and is even better with the Patriots back in their winning ways!

JATC Update NEW SCHOOL YEAR BEGINS

the Clean Energy Pre-Apprentice Program, further expanding opportunities for future electricians in this critical field.

The Veterans Committee supported this year’s Boston Stand Down by providing power and lighting for the event, which serves more than 1,200 veterans in need and connects them with VA services, haircuts, dental care, and other vital resources.

The new school year officially began in September, welcoming a new group of apprentices and continuing students as they advance through one of the most comprehensive electrical training programs in the country.

The Committee also attended the annual Helmets to Hardhats fundraiser at the State House. Local 103 apprentice Daniel Dortona spoke on behalf of our H2H apprentices, sharing his story about how the program helped him transition back into civilian life and get placed in a great job that allows him to provide for his family.

The JATC’s commitment to renewable energy continues to grow. A new 95-kilowatt variable speed wind turbine has been installed and is now generating clean power for the JATC building. In addition, a new climbing and training tower for wind turbine instruction will be installed soon, providing hands-on experience for members entering the clean energy sector.

Trust Funds Update Health Plan Quarterly Eligibility letters for work during July–September 2025, pertaining to coverage for the January– March 2026 eligibility period, were mailed during the first week of November to all Participants with hours reported during the work period. If you have a Deferred Income loan, as yearend approaches, please be sure to review your monthly loan statement. If you fall behind on payments, there are potential tax ramifications. Effective November 1, 2025, the normal retirement pension benefit formula multiplier increased from $130 to $131 per month for each year of Credited Service under the Plan for eligible participants. To be eligible for this increase, you must retire on or after November 1, 2025, and must not have had a Break in Service prior to that date.

The Temporary Pension Enhancement period began with retirements effective November 1, 2025, and will apply to retirements effective prior to October 31, 2026. Below is a brief summary of the Temporary Pension Enhancements. Please contact the Trust Funds Office for further details or to discuss how these might apply to you specifically.

• A one-time $50,000 incentive payment paid at the time of the initial monthly pension benefit.

• Removal of the reduction in the monthly pension benefit associated with early retirement.

• The option to “fill in” one year with less than 200 hours of credited service, subject to limitations.

• The requirements to retire with health coverage are reduced from 15 years of continuous coverage prior to retirement and 15,000 credited hours during those years to 10 years and 10,000 hours during those years.
