Regular office cleaning isn’t just about appearances — it’s a smart way to extend the life of your building and its contents

In Bermuda’s humid climate, taking care of your office environment isn’t just a matter of hygiene — it’s a matter of longevity. For businesses, regular professional cleaning does more than make your space look presentable. It helps preserve your investment in your property, furnishings, and fixtures.
Carpets are a good example. Left too long between cleanings, dirt and grit become embedded deep in the fibres, wearing them down with every step. A proper cleaning schedule — including periodic deep cleans — can double the life of a commercial carpet, saving thousands of dollars in replacement costs.
The same goes for tiled floors, which can lose their shine and become a safety hazard if not properly maintained. Grout lines, often overlooked, are magnets for mould and mildew in our damp island conditions. Regular scrubbing and sealing help prevent long-term deterioration and water damage.
Air conditioning systems, another major investment for any Bermuda office, also benefit from preventative care. Dust and debris accumulate in vents and filters, reducing efficiency and air quality. Regular

cleaning helps systems run better and last longer, while also reducing electricity costs — a key concern for many island businesses.
Even furniture — desks, upholstered chairs, blinds — lasts longer with regular cleaning. Removing accumulated dust and grime protects finishes and fabrics, and also creates a healthier environment for employees and visitors.
Perhaps most importantly, regular cleaning helps spot small issues before they become big problems. A cleaner might notice a leaking pipe under a sink, signs of mould near a window, or pest droppings in a storage area — giving you the chance to address it before it escalates into a major repair job or health issue.
At the end of the day, a good cleaning schedule is like good insurance. It protects your office assets, maintains a professional image, and avoids the higher costs of deferred maintenance.

Butterfield’s newly renovated Somerset Banking Centre represents more than a physical refresh — it signals the bank’s continued investment in relationshipbased banking and its commitment to serving communities across Bermuda with modern, accessible spaces designed for the way clients bank today.
The Somerset project forms part of a wider programme of upgrades across Butterfield’s branch network. Following the renovation of the historic Front Street Banking Centre — completed to coincide with the building’s 100th anniversary in 2023 —Somerset became the next priority in the bank’s long-term facilities strategy, and work is currently underway at the St. George’s location,.
“We believe in the importance of
putting real relationships and real people at the heart of our business,” says John Goddard, Vice President, Security and Facilities at Butterfield. “Having a physical presence in our community is important to us, and many of our clients still value the ability to bank in person.”
At the centre of the renovation was a clear focus on improving the everyday customer experience. The redesign aimed to deliver a space that feels modern, comfortable and welcoming, while also improving accessibility and functionality.
According to Mr. Goddard, the project was driven by a desire to create a sophisticated environment that reflects current expectations. “It really is about improving and investing in the overall

client experience,” he explains. “We want to provide better everyday banking options for our clients — including accessibility, comfort and a space that meets the expectations of today’s world.”
As a smaller retail branch, Somerset required careful planning to maximise space without compromising service. A key addition was the development of an enclosed ATM vestibule, providing clients with a safe, secure and climatecontrolled environment. The upgrade also allows customers to access no-wait deposit services 24 hours a day — a significant improvement from previous arrangements where deposits were

limited to banking hours.
Design choices throughout the branch were guided by Butterfield’s core brand values — approachable, collaborative, empowered and impactful — translating these principles into a practical, customer-centred environment.
“Every design decision — from layout to materials to technology — was carefully thought through,” says Mr. Goddard.
While the finished result feels seamless, delivering the project presented significant logistical challenges. Unlike previous renovations, Somerset remained fully operational throughout construction — requiring detailed planning and daily oversight to maintain safety and service standards.
Mr. Goddard describes it as the most complex renovation the team has undertaken to date. Operations were temporarily reduced to two teller stations, with limited office availability as work progressed in phases. During early stages of construction, customers accessed the banking centre through a rear entrance while renovations continued at the front of the building.
“This process required daily management

and monitoring of both the banking centre and construction environments to ensure the safety of employees, customers and construction staff,” he says.
Despite these challenges, the outcome has delivered tangible operational benefits. Updated layouts, improved workflow and modernised facilities have helped create a safer and more efficient environment for staff while supporting smoother client interactions.
While digital banking continues to evolve, Butterfield’s approach remains firmly centred on combining technology with human interaction.
“We continue to invest in our Banking Centres because they provide a space where clients can come in and speak to someone they trust,” Mr. Goddard explains.
The renovated branch introduces several technology enhancements designed to improve convenience without removing personal service. A new virtual queuing system allows customers to check wait times and join the queue online before arriving at the branch, helping clients make better use of their time. Updated digital displays

throughout the banking centre also provide real-time information, product updates and regulatory notices.
The bank has also adapted to changing customer preferences by offering flexibility in how services are delivered. For example, new account openings can now be completed entirely online or through face-to-face appointments at a branch — giving clients greater choice.
Sustainability and longterm efficiency were also central considerations in the renovation. Energy-efficient air-conditioning and lighting systems have been installed, and a solar energy system is scheduled to be added later this year as part of a separate project aimed at reducing the building’s carbon footprint.
The result is a branch designed not only for today’s needs but for future expectations — a space that blends modern technology, operational efficiency and community-focused service.
For Butterfield, the Somerset renovation represents more than a refreshed building; it reinforces a philosophy that banking is still about people, relationships and providing spaces where those connections can happen comfortably and confidently.

A former cafeteria has become Bermuda College’s most versatile venue — modern, techforward and designed to welcome everyone.
Aformer cafeteria at Bermuda College has been transformed into an accessible, flexible and popular conference and events centre.
Named after its sponsor, Butterfield & Vallis, the newly renovated space plays host not just to College events, but can also be rented for private and community events as well:
“The brief was to turn it into a multifunction room that they could use for their own purposes as well as for the
community’s purposes,” explains Sue Bendell, Design Director of Bendell Design.
While the room looks sleek and modern and is fitted with the latest in audio-visual technology, a lot went on above the ceiling and in the walls to make this happen. “It was in a bad state,” she continues. “It was a cafeteria before, so we needed to completely redo the infrastructure.”
This included an entirely new air-
conditioning system, a new ceiling, new lighting, new fire and safety equipment and new luxury vinyl tile flooring. “All the guts have been renewed,” she says.
There are also four new, large monitors which can be accessed remotely from laptops, phones and tablets. “You can put what’s on your tablet [on the screen]. It’s also tied to the Athene Career Development Centre, so they can show things in here that are being shown in there.” The Athene Centre is next to this

conference room.
“There’s a lot of technology in the room,” she continues, adding, “the monitors have the ability to show a single video source or separate video sources on each monitor.” There are also multiple hidden speakers in the ceiling.
In addition to modernisation, a priority for this renovation was accessibility, and the new Butterfield & Vallis Conference Centre is not only fully accessible from anywhere on campus, but it also has bathrooms suitable for anyone in a wheelchair or who has mobility issues.
“That’s very important to the College, to
make everything accessible and inclusive,” says Bendell.
Cheyenne Trott is the Events, Rooms and Communications Co-ordinator for Bermuda College and she explains that the room is in high demand because of this. “We’ve had events for the Human Rights Commission based solely on the fact that we were able to be accessible, so it’s really a unique selling point to have that one thing that sets us apart,” she says.
Other events have included awards ceremonies, seminars, international symposiums, fundraisers, training sessions and even live chef presentations.
“We have lots of culinary students,” continues Trott. “The other side of this wall connects to the kitchen as well as the Prospect room, which are used by the culinary students, and they host lots of events here as well.”
To accommodate all these different events, the room needed to be flexible as well as able to fit lots of people. With tables, it can fit 150 comfortably; without tables, up to 180; and for standing only, it can fit 200 people. There is also room for staging if needed.
A serving area to one side was Bendell’s way of finding a use for some existing

columns. “I like to call it the coffee nook,” says Trott. “If they’re having light refreshments — coffees, teas, water — I will offer that space.”
Where there is colour in the room, it was selected with the College’s branding in mind, as well as to match the Athene Centre next door. There is, therefore, a turquoise frame within the flooring, which goes around the perimeter of the room, along with dark blue baseboards. A dark blue accent wall and white countertop make the serving area stand out.
Having such a large, flexible space in
“That’s another way we try to be accessible — not only physically, but in terms of cost to use the space,” she continues.
“It’s definitely been a success,” adds Cleun Gaiton, who is Facilities Management Director at the College and was the Project Lead for this renovation. “This used to be the cafeteria but we don’t have food services anymore, so the College was looking for a space that people could utilise, instead of working with hotels and expensive rental venues. We wanted to have a space like that at the College and, since the cafeteria wasn’t in use, we looked at this space to increase our revenue streams.”
Not only is he pleased with how the room turned out, but he laughs: “It came in under budget, so that’s always a plus.”

Bermuda is rare and the College tries to make it financially accessible as well. All this combined has made it an easy sell for Trott. “We’re very limited for spaces that are so open plan and easy to configure how you like, that are also communitybased,” she says.
“That’s also really important to us. We try to make it very accessible for communities. More than just being a space at the College for the students, we want it to be a community space, and we want anyone who feels like they want to do something that requires a room of this size to get in touch.

Bacardi’s transformed lobby is welcoming, eclectic and ready for hosting
Walking into Bacardi’s headquarters on Pitts Bay Road, you could be forgiven for thinking you have entered a modern, stylish art gallery. On display, however, are not works of art for admiring; they are iconic bottles of spirits for drinking.
The vast 40-foot-wide, 20-foot-high visual centrepiece that greets visitors on arrival is an illuminated installation spotlighting some of the company’s signature brands. One hundred and

forty-four bottles are immaculately housed in their own lit cubicles, with each column representing a single brand. The display has been designed to be flexible, allowing different brands to take centre stage at different times, and it is particularly eye-catching after dark:
“We really wanted to see it glow at night,” explains lead designer Lindsay Barnett, Creative Director and Producer at Planning Factory. “In the evening it really stands out, and we thought, what’s more important than being able to see from the street side how beautiful the inside of the lobby appears to be?”
Barnett was instrumental in shaping the vision for the lobby renovation, while Botelho Wood architect Krystal Rodrigues helped bring it to life.
Although the display wall appears sleek and effortless, its creation was anything but — a carpentry and electrical triumph that took a year to realise:
“Everybody across the board told us that we couldn’t make this happen,” laughs Rodrigues, “because getting that material to glow all the way around without seeing shadows is a feat. We had mock-ups made of the display case. We tested out different lighting,” she explains.
It was, quite literally, an all-hands-ondeck project: “We had the contractor, the electrician, the cabinet maker, the millwork supplier. Everybody was working on this around the clock, trying to figure out not only how we were going to make it happen, but how we were going to maintain it,” she continues.
And herein lies another ingenious design feature. The white fronts are hinged, opening like cabinets to allow easy access to the light fixtures should

they need replacing. The eucalyptus pilasters framing the displays are also hinged, concealing wiring and discreetly disguising the speakers.
These columns were deliberately designed to complement the bar area in the room beyond, while the brass inlay echoes Bacardi’s famous bat logo, featured on the glass doors leading into the rest of the building.
While undoubtedly the showstopper, this centrepiece is only one part of the story being told in the new entrance — a space that also functions as an entertainment venue.
The reception desk at one end, for example, has been intentionally designed to double as a food or drinks station, with edges wide enough to hold platters. Mirroring this reception cubicle is a hospitality counter running the full width of the display wall. Beneath a bar top and front made of white grained Dekton sits custom cabinetry, drinks

fridges and copper ice troughs. The copper was selected for the natural patina it develops over time:
“We selected this to give that juxtaposition of new and old,” explains Barnett, adding that the warm tones paired with modern finishes were deliberate, complementing other areas of the building’s interior.
The interplay between modernity and history is very much a theme at Bacardi’s head office. The company’s story stretches back more than 160 years, to 4 February 1862, when it was founded by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó in Santiago de Cuba.
Two large alcoves have been created at either end of the lobby to showcase photographs and artefacts from the company’s archives — including one-of-akind vintage Bacardí bottles, a hand-woven Bacardí demijohn from the 1950s, black-and-white photographs of the original Cuban distillery, and an original Bacardí bar. Above each alcove, Bacardí’s original signature has been mounted in brass. Lighting within the interior perimeter

ensures these displays remain visible from outside after dark.
At 90 feet long and 17 feet wide, the lobby is vast, and there was a risk the space could feel cavernous. Clever use of layered lighting, however, creates warmth and intimacy.
In addition to spotlights and cove lighting around the ceiling’s perimeter, large statement brass Nemo Crown Magnum chandeliers hang above the reception desk at one end and the stairwell at the other. Linear versions above the hospitality counter continue the visual language. Four-foot-high brass
standing lamps add a human scale to the lighting scheme:
“The idea of being able to light it in multiple different ways and create different scenes for different times of the day whenever they’re entertaining was really important — bringing light down to the human scale rather than just having this harsh overhead,” explains Rodrigues.
Adding to the sense of refinement is the Stone Source Epic Vicenze Statuario Oro wall and floor tile. Predominantly white, like the countertops, the material features a grain that bookmatches to

create dramatic diamond-like patterns at the joins — a detail Barnett says “gives it a really interesting and timeless quality.” Wood, brass and white porcelain tie directly into Bacardi’s branding and logo, creating an intriguing contrast with the building’s modernist exterior.

The headquarters, which opened in 1972, was famously designed by renowned architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and is, says Rodrigues, “austere and meant to be appreciated from a distance, which doesn’t necessarily align with the brand values. The brand is very welcoming and embracing of people coming in, joining the party.” Adds Barnett: “The idea, when we first started working together, was that everything we do is moving Bacardi closer towards tying the building to the brand.”
What once felt cold and corporate now feels warm and inviting — a space designed for people as much as for purpose. “It’s a place for gathering, it’s a place for celebration,” she adds.

BAC’s new showroom turns kitchen and bath selection into a hands-on experience, with operable fixtures and standout Kohler and Kallista displays.
Refitting or renovating a bathroom or kitchen is a feat of decisionmaking strength. There are all the large fixtures to choose, such as the sink, toilet, tub or shower. Then there are the smaller, but equally important fittings to choose, such as which style of faucet would look best with the sink you like. Will that faucet go with the towel rail you picked? Do you want a simple mirror or a large medicine cabinet in the bathroom? Which finish will suit the look and feel of the room better: polished chrome, matte black or brushed brass? The options are seemingly endless.
Making all these decisions easier is BAC Group’s newly designed showroom in Mills Creek, which showcases their wide selection of Kohler and Kallista products, alongside some lighting and bathroom vanities from Robern. Kallista and Robern are both Kohler Company brands.
The creative mind behind this redesign is Yolanda Hypolite. Hypolite is the
showroom and retail manager for the BAC Group, who oversaw the entire project. As a plumber by trade, there is very little about kitchen and bathroom fixtures she doesn’t know:
“The previous showroom — we had it for at least 10 years — so we were long overdue for a new showroom,” she explains. The central area of the rectangular space, which primarily showcases showerheads, faucets, bathroom basins and kitchen sinks, was designed by Kohler. The rest of the showroom, however, had to be designed to match by Hypolite.
At one end, she has focused on tubs, and at the other are bathroom fixtures such as toilets, mirrors, vanities and medicine cabinets. Each area has been curated to both stand out on its own merits, as well as complement the Kohler branding and products.
One of the most eye-catching products is a huge, free-standing, white Argile soaking tub by Kallista, which takes up

most of the end-wall space. There is also a matching basin off to one side. While this may be one of the most striking and high-end products, the most popular product on display in this area is actually the Kohler walk-in tub:
“As people get older, some people still like to take those baths, and it’s harder for an elderly person to step over and into the tub. This one here would allow you to go in. Once you close the door, and once water is in here, that door will not open. It gives you a nice massage — you’ve got your jets — and it just allows you to stay home as you get a bit older, and still enables you to get a bath.”
This tub comes with a low entry step, a seat, backrest, handrails and hydrotherapy jets.
Other stand-out products on display include the smart toilets, the lids of which open automatically when you walk past. They come with a remote control that isn’t just used for flushing and lidopening timings; it can even set the seat temperature.
In addition to the new design, the

showroom is now connected to piped water so clients can turn some of the faucets on. “We wanted to have fixtures that were operable,” explains Hypolite.
“Sometimes the customer wants to know: how does it flow? So we decided, let’s run some water in here.”
Being able to touch, feel and try the products is as important as being
able to see them, and the design very much allows for that. Kitchen sinks, for example, are mounted into drawers which can be pulled out. Some of the faucets are mounted onto moveable panels so customers can pick them up and place them on the basins, sinks or tubs to see how they would look, and which colour appears best.
This flexibility is further apparent in the welcoming display, where various products are mounted into smaller panels so they can easily be removed and replaced when a product is discontinued, without having to change the whole wall.
Hypolite also had to source vanities, tile and other décor that would complement the products and branding. For this she turned to Pembroke Tile and Stone, iDESIGN and Furniture Craft.
Different tiles have been used in different areas to create unique effects. Torano Dorado polished tile was chosen for its dramatic grey, copper and gold veins to highlight the Kallista Argile tub. This is complemented by the Symphony Persian tile, which she chose for behind the vanities at the opposite end. In the far corner, behind a dramatic black toilet and basin, is black and white Symphony Snow tile, complete with a circular lit mirror to finish the look. A more relaxing weave tile called Treccia Natural, however, sits behind the display shower and walk-in tub.
The murals and frames were custom designed and created locally by iDESIGN and Furniture Craft, and greenery was added to contrast with the whites, greys, blacks and golds of the products and tiling, which also gives the space a fresh feel.
Bringing the whole space to life from above are new, square ceiling lights, which are so effective that Hypolite hopes to be able to continue this all the way through the retail store as well.
Customer and designer feedback on the new space has, she says, been only positive: “On the grand opening night, they just couldn’t believe it. They were just like, ‘wow’, from seeing where it came from, to where it is now.”
The plumbers also love it. However, given her experience in the trade, a slight downside of all the new products is that she is “bombarded all day because if it’s a new product, and they’re not familiar with it, they will come and ask me, ‘how do you install this, how does this go?’” she laughs. It’s all a good sign, however, that there is much demand for what the showroom is selling.

Inside the evolution of Bermuda’s newest collaborative design hub
At first glance, the newly transformed ground-floor space at 129 Front Street feels like a fresh arrival on Bermuda’s design scene — calm, inviting, thoughtfully curated and unmistakably modern. But spend a little time inside, and it becomes clear that this isn’t simply a new showroom opening its doors. It’s something more deliberate: an evolution of a long-established business, reimagined around how clients actually make decisions today.
While the physical transformation is significant, the bigger story lies in what it represents — the next stage in the evolution of two established names in Bermuda’s interiors industry, Commercial Office Environments (CEO) and Furniture Flair, now unified under a single identity: Space.
“COE and Furniture Flair built a strong foundation,” DeCouto says. “But we wanted one identity that matches the level of work we do now. Space is that

consolidation — one brand, one standard, one experience.”
The space has been designed to feel less like a traditional retail environment and more like a working studio — somewhere ideas move forward, projects take shape, and collaboration happens naturally. For Alex DeCouto and his team, the goal was clear from the start.
“We were ready to bring everything we do under one clear customer experience — one front door,” DeCouto explains. “Bermuda clients and the A&D community want inspiration, but they also want clarity and follow-through. This move lets us deliver both, in one place.”
Located in the heart of Hamilton, the new environment reflects a significant investment in rethinking not just aesthetics, but process. Space is a tenant at 129 Front Street, and the team undertook a major reworking of the ground-floor interior to align with the way clients and designers interact today.
“It wasn’t about ‘pretty for pretty’s sake,’” says DeCouto. “It was built to work — for clients, designers and our team.”
That philosophy is evident throughout. Rather than rows of furniture arranged for browsing, visitors encounter carefully considered zones that encourage interaction. Statement pieces and sample applications provide inspiration, while a substantial materials library supports practical decision-making. Comfortable seating areas invite conversation; large work surfaces allow teams to spread out and compare options.
The result is a space that functions simultaneously as showroom, design centre and planning hub.
“It’s a showroom you can experience,

a design centre you can explore, and a planning hub where projects move forward with real momentum,” DeCouto says. “We’ve configured it to be welcoming and collaborative — a place where ideas become real.”
The concept reflects a shift in how furniture and interior solutions are chosen today, particularly at the premium and bespoke end of the market. Instead of selecting items off the floor, clients increasingly engage in a curated process — comparing finishes, testing comfort, and reviewing real-world applications before products are ordered and imported.
“Most of our projects are specified, then ordered and delivered,” DeCouto explains. “This space makes that process easier. Clients can compare materials, see applications, and make confident choices before we manage the ordering and installation.”
The experience, he adds, is intentionally different from the traditional showroom model.
“Less ‘browse and guess,’ more ‘discover and decide.’ We wanted people to feel guided, not sold to — like they’re in a studio where ideas become a plan.”
That approach is designed to serve a broad client base, from corporate offices and hospitality spaces to highend residential projects. Architects and designers are also a key audience, with

dedicated areas designed specifically for working sessions and collaborative planning.
The showroom’s layout mirrors the way projects unfold in real life. There are zones for collaboration, areas for focused selection, and displays showing practical applications rather than abstract concepts. Movement through the space feels natural, encouraging conversation rather than passive viewing.
Bermuda’s unique design needs were also a strong influence. Many projects today blur the lines between residential and commercial — home offices, multi-use spaces and hospitality-inspired workplaces have become increasingly common.
“Bermuda projects often blend functions,” DeCouto says. “We wanted the showroom to feel relevant across those lines — commercial-grade performance where it matters, with warmth and comfort where people live and gather.”
The aesthetic itself is understated but
confident: clean lines, tactile materials and thoughtful detailing that communicate quality without excess.
“The whole space is about calm confidence,” he says. “Quality you can feel.”
Behind the scenes, the new environment has also transformed how the team works. Previously spread across different areas, samples, meetings and project planning now happen under one roof — streamlining communication and improving efficiency.
“It centralises how we work,” DeCouto notes. “Samples, meetings, collaboration and decision-making are now in one place. That reduces friction and helps us run projects more smoothly.”
Technology plays a supporting role, with large screens installed to facilitate virtual meetings with manufacturers and remote partners, as well as to display products not physically available in the showroom. Rather than replacing the tactile experience, digital tools enhance
it — helping clients visualise possibilities while still engaging with real materials.
The space also reflects modern workplace trends, demonstrating flexible layouts, acoustic considerations and environments designed for different modes of work.
“People need to experience solutions, not just read about them,” DeCouto says.
Durability and longevity were central considerations throughout the design process — an approach shaped by Bermuda’s climate and the realities of island living.
“We focus on reputable manufacturers and proven materials,” DeCouto explains. “Longevity is sustainability in practice.”
The space itself has been designed to evolve over time. Displays are modular and refreshable, allowing the showroom to adapt as trends shift without requiring major overhauls.
“It’s modular and flexible,” he says. “New products can come in, zones can change — it’s built to evolve.”
For clients walking through the doors, the intention is simple: to create a sense of possibility.
“We want people to feel that it’s thoughtful — and that it’s theirs to explore,” he says. “To slow down, sit, touch, compare, and feel confident they’re in good hands.”
Ultimately, DeCouto hopes the space becomes more than a showroom — a true hub for Bermuda’s architecture and design community.
“We want it to be a place where people bring clients, solve problems, learn what’s new, and move projects forward,” he says. “Space isn’t just a showroom — it’s a resource.”
And perhaps that’s the real headline here: not just a new space on Front Street, but a new way of working — one built around collaboration, clarity and the idea that great projects begin with the right conversation.

Monument Re’s full-floor relocation became a chance to remove barriers, maximise natural light, and create an open, brand-aligned workplace that supports collaboration and employee well-being.
Monument Re’s relocation offered a rare and exciting opportunity to completely reimagine how their workplace could support the way their team collaborates, communicates and connects every day. Instead of simply transferring their existing setup into a new location, the company saw the move as a chance to reshape their work culture. Their goal was clear: eliminate the physical and visual barriers that limited interaction and fully embrace the abundant natural light available in the new space. This vision became the guiding principle for a design that prioritises openness,
transparency and employee wellbeing.
The completed project is a fullfloor transformation that feels cohesive, inviting and perfectly aligned with Monument Re’s identity. A cornerstone of the design is the extensive use of clearglass partitions. These transparent elements replace traditional solid walls, allowing the space to feel connected while still supporting the practical needs of a busy workplace. The most prominent example is the technology-enhanced 18-person boardroom. Although it provides the privacy required for important discussions and presentations, the glass enclosure keeps it visually open, helping the entire floor maintain a sense of flow. The same approach was applied to two smaller meeting rooms, which are acoustically private yet designed to preserve the overall openness. This strategic use of glass enables natural daylight to reach deep into the office, energising workstations and contributing to a bright, uplifting environment.
Colour plays another key role in shaping the experience of the

space. Monument Re’s signature orange and deep blue appear throughout the office as subtle, intentional accents. Rather than using these colours in overwhelming ways, they are integrated into select furnishings, cabinetry and finishes. This creates visual interest and reinforces the company’s brand identity while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic. The carefully measured colour placement helps connect different zones, giving the floor a unified look and feel.
One of the standout achievements of the project is the elevated staff amenity area. Today’s workers — especially in an age when work-from-home options are widespread — expect more from their workplace environments. To meet this expectation, the design team created a kitchen and lounge that functions as a true destination within the office. The space is anchored by a striking oversized island, complemented by premium appliances and custom cabinetry. It offers the warmth, comfort and sophistication of a high-end

hospitality setting. Employees can step away from their desks to relax, share a meal, or have casual conversations that spark new ideas. This inviting social hub encourages staff to come into the office by providing an experience that simply can’t be replicated at home.
Every detail of the renovation was executed with performance and aesthetics in mind. New carpeting was selected for durability and visual harmony, helping define pathways and work zones without distracting from the overall minimal design. Storage solutions were built into the layout to maintain a clutter-free environment and support efficient workflows. Lighting, furniture and finishes were all chosen to enhance comfort and functionality, ensuring the workplace feels modern, integrated and ready for the future.
Ultimately, Monument Re’s renovated office is more than just a workspace — it is a physical expression of their values and a strategic tool for strengthening their culture.

The design promotes transparency, collaboration and comfort, creating an atmosphere where employees feel motivated and supported. In a time when companies must work harder than ever to attract teams back into the office, Monument Re now offers a space that people genuinely want to spend time in. From its thoughtful use of light and colour to its elevated amenities and open, welcoming layout,
the new office positions the company as forward-thinking, people-focused and committed to creating an environment where their staff can thrive.
