A word from our CEO
Looking ahead
Still from TERROR NULLIUS: A Political Revenge Fable in Three Acts
Welcome to the final edition of The Coronet for 2017. The most recent round of Cultural Trust grants saw eleven emerging artists awarded grants to further their artistic practice overseas. Given one of our aims this year has been to reach more regional artists and organisations, it’s particularly pleasing that four of our eleven new grantees are artists working in regional and rural areas. We have featured two of our latest rural-based grantees, Alinta Krauth and Fayen d’Evie, below, along with some of their insights into what it’s like to practice in regional and rural Australia. It is our hope that the opportunities they pursue abroad equip them with newfound skills and knowledge that they can bring back to their local communities, further enriching the vibrant regional arts sector. As the year winds down and we look ahead to 2018, we keenly anticipate the premiere of the third Ian Potter Moving Image Commission, Soda_Jerk’s TERROR NULLIUS: A Political Revenge Fable in Three Acts. Following the success of the first two commissions, it is our expectation that TERROR NULLIUS will absorb and thrill audiences, thanks to Soda_Jerk’s unique and provocative video sampling practice. We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. Craig Connelly
