Lose the Language, Lauren Burrow, 2015

One of the primary aims of the Cultural Trust is to provide meaningful support to talented emerging artists. In line with this aim, and in recognition of the growing cost of travel and professional development programs, the maximum grant amount going forward will be increased to $10,000. We believe that this will allow us to support our grantees more fully, and to continue to play our unique and important role in the Australian arts landscape. In this edition of The Coronet, we also spotlight the work of Angelica Mesiti, the inaugural winner of the Ian Potter Moving Image Commission. It is exciting to see the growing relevance and appreciation of Mesiti's The Calling (2013-14), IPMIC’s first commissioned work, which has most recently been acquired by the National Gallery of Australia. We believe that it is important to share the successes of our past grantees, and the ways in which a Cultural Trust grant has often played a pivotal role in their creative and professional journeys. We hope you draw inspiration from the diverse achievements and stories of the grantees featured below.
