Welcome to the final issue of The Coronet for 2024.
As another busy year ends, I am able to reflect on all the work undertaken by the Trust to support Australian artists and performers – from its long-standing Emerging Artists Grants program to newer programs designed to support mid-career performers and artists in collaboration with the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and The Sidney Myer Fund I encourage you to read about these new initiatives and our 2023–24 grant recipients in our latest Annual Grants Report.
Congratulations to the 24 emerging artists who were awarded Emerging Artist Grants in our latest funding round enabling them to travel internationally and pursue
professional development opportunities.
We are also pleased to announce the recipients of the second year of the Ian Potter Emerging Performers Fellowships – flautist Eliza Shephard and percussionist Kaylie Melville. Both ANAM and the Trust are proud to be able to support these talented musicians as they pursue their professional ambitions over the next two years.
We joined the Sidney Myer Fund's Creative Fellowships program this year, which awards $200,000 over two years to Australian mid-career creatives Congratulations to our inaugural Ian Potter Creative Fellows – composer-performer James Rushford and writer Josephine Rowe who will embark on their Fellowship journeys in the new year
From 2025, The Ian Potter Cultural Trust will only run two Emerging Artist Grant funding rounds per year. Round One for 2025 is currently open, and Round Two will open in April 2025. Artists who have their sights set on a grant for artistic professional development in mid-2025 will need to apply in this current open round (closing 14 January 2025).
Even though 2024 is coming to a close, our grantees are by no means slowing down. Many are exhibiting their work at various galleries in Australia and New Zealand this summer (see below for more details)
On behalf of the Trust, we wish all our grantees and the arts community a joyous holiday season and a happy New Year.

The Ian Potter Emerging Performers Fellowship Program is a collaboration between the Trust and the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) It supports two ANAM alumni in pursuing careers that fall outside the traditional orchestral pathways.
We are delighted to announce the two new Fellows for 2025: Kaylie Melville (percussion) and Eliza Shephard (flute).
Melville and Shephard will each receive $100,000 in financial support from the Trust as well as tailored mentoring support from ANAM over two years so they can develop their unique performance practices.

The Sidney Myer Creative Fellowships program began in 2011 to provide unrestricted, tax-free grants of $200,000 over two years to individual Australian artists, creatives, and cultural leaders. The Fellowships are intended to provide artists with the time, space and resources to develop their practice in peace and to take creative risks without fear.
Earlier this year, the Trust joined this program providing funding for two Creative Fellows each year. We are excited to announce the inaugural Ian Potter Creative Fellowship recipients: James Rushford (contemporary music) and Josephine Rowe (literature).
