Welcome to the first edition of The Coronet for 2024.The beginning of this year has been a remarkably busy time for the Trust, and I'm pleased to share our latest news and an exciting new Fellowship opportunity
InApril, Craig Drummond was appointed Chair of our Board of Trustees, taking over from Charles GoodeAC, who has held the position since the Trust was established in 1993. We acknowledge and thank Charles Goode for his dedicated service over 31 years. Under his leadership, theTrust awarded over $13 million in grants to support artists undertaking professional development to contribute toAustralia's vibrant, diverse arts sector.
We can also now announce that the Trust will join the Sidney Myer Fund in supporting originating artists and cultural leaders through its Creative Fellowship program. From 2024, TheTrust will award two Ian Potter Creative Fellowships annually.They will have the same value, criteria, and structure as the Sidney Myer Creative Fellowships and will be determined in the same selection process.The Fellowships will provide unrestricted, tax-
free grants of $200,000 over two years to individualAustralian artists, creatives, and cultural leaders. More information can be found below
In February, cellist Mee Na Lojewski and violist Katie Yap commenced as the inaugural Ian Potter Emerging Performers Fellows. These Fellowships are a joint initiative of the Trust and theAustralian NationalAcademy of Music (ANAM) to supportANAM alumni in pursuing performance careers outside the traditional full-time orchestral or teaching pathways. Each Fellowship provides $100,000 and mentoring support over two years – an investment in the Fellow's career development as an independent performer We look forward to following Lojewski and Yap’s professional journeys over the next two years. Last month, theTrust awarded $344,584 in EmergingArtist Grants to 29 artists. Congratulations to all our latest grantees. We are excited to see what you make of your overseas opportunities and projects.Acomplete list of our most recent grantees can be found on theTrust's website.
Lastly, I wish to introduce a new staff member, Coral East, to theAdministration & HR Manager role. Coral joined us in March, taking over from Gail Lewry, who retired after 17 years at theTrust. We thank Gail for her contribution to the Trust.

Round 1, 2024

The Ian Potter Cultural Trust received 151 applications in the first EmergingArtist Grants funding round of 2024. From this highly competitive pool, 29 artists were awarded $344,584 in grants.
TheTrust's new grantees will travel to 14 countries, including Finland, Japan, and Indonesia, to undertake professional development opportunities tailored to their respective creative practices.

Siobhan Lynch

With the support of an EmergingArtist Grant, new grantee Siobhan Lynch will undertake a professional development tour in Europe, participating in world-class dance training workshops and performance projects.
Funding Rounds
Applications open

Applications are now open for the EmergingArtist Grants program, Funding Round 2, 2024. Grants of up to $15,000 will support emerging artists working across the spectrum of the arts in their
pursuit of professional development opportunities.

With the support of an EmergingArtist Grant, screenwriter and director Emily Honey interned at Roserock Films, a Warner Brothers in-house production studio in Burbank, California, with celebrated producers Hunt Lowry and Patty Reed.

TheTrust's website has been redeveloped with the goal of providing artists with a more accessible and mobile-friendly experience when researching our funding opportunities.Anew feature is accessiBee, an interface enabling personalisation to meet individual needs. To use this feature, look for the pink person icon at the bottom of your screen.
