Meaning:Godpromiseseternallifetothosewhorepentoftheir sinandbelieveontheLordJesusChrist.Theword"hope"inour textmeansexpectationorconfidence.Thereasonwecanbe confidentabouthavingeternallifeisbecauseGodpromisedit. Godpromisedthat,"HethatbelievethontheSonhath everlastinglife"(John3:36).AgainGodpromises,"Thesethings haveIwrittenuntoyouthatbelieveonthenameoftheSonof God,thatyemayknowthatyehaveeternallife"(IJohn5:13).
