Luke11:8"Isayuntoyou,Thoughhewillnotriseand givehim,becauseheishisfriend,yetbecauseofhis importunityhewillriseandgivehimasmanyashe needeth."
Meaning:Thisparableoftheimportunatefriendwasgiven byJesustoHisdiscipleswhentheyaskedHimtoteachthem topray.Importunityispersistenceinmakinganurgent requestfrequently.Theparabledescribesafriendwhocame tohisfriend'shouseatmidnighttoaskforbread.Even thoughitwasaninconvenienttime,thefriendaroseandgave whatwasneededbecauseofhiscontinuedandurgentasking.
Application:ToaskGodagainandagaindoes notgetoldtoHim,butshowsHimtheimportance ofourrequest.Moseswasallowedtoseethe PromisedLandbecauseofhiscontinualasking (Deuteronomy3:23-28).Abrahamwasallowed thesparingofSodomfortenrighteous,becauseof hiscontinualasking(Genesis18:23-33).God wantsustoaskagainandagain,forHehearsour everyprayer.Perseveranceinprayeris encouragedbyGodandispleasingtoGod.
