Faith Academy is tangible proof of the power of faithfully planting seeds and watching them take root and grow. Fanfan Janvier, director of the school, shares how powerful it is to see a God-dream become a reality by witnessing how far the school and children have come, how many children’s lives have changed, and watching each child grow over the years. “A seed to
a plant and from this plant there are many fruits. All of this is from education, love and unity. Our kids will be our leaders of tomorrow!” Fanfan exclaims. It is with joy to announce that for this school year enrollment of the students has grown from 500 to 620 children! This is great news knowing the enrollment will continue to increase after the new wing of the building is completed. Earlier this year, the foundation for the new wing was finished. Over the summer and into the fall, the blocks to create the walls were laid. The construction team is currently working to pour the columns and setting the beams. The building project continues to faithfully move forward thanks to the support from Hyde Park Community UMC. Due to the political unrest, we are currently not able to travel to Haiti to serve alongside Fanfan and his team at Faith Academy. Please know that every effort is made to ensure the safety of students and teachers at Faith Academy. Fanfan is hopeful that one day we will again be able to go to Haiti in order to see firsthand the fruits of the seeds Hyde Park Community UMC planted and hear the children’s stories of transformation thanks to their education.
Needed: $9,000 - your contribution supports the education of children in Haiti as well as helping complete the new wing allowing 500 more children to attend school raising the enrollment to 1,120 students.

CLUJ, ROMANIA
We are rejoicing that the seeds you helped us plant this year are really “taking root” in ways we never dreamed of! In July, the church
had the unexpected opportunity to acquire and rent the entire hotel where we have been worshipping for years! Now under the management and direction of the church’s non-profit association, this great building is becoming a community center in the heart of Cluj. Our partnership with Hyde Park Community UMC is such a blessing and is one of the reasons we have been able to plant and watch this phenomenal blessing of God take root! While we were hoping to plant an after school program and a worship music ministry it is on track to grow abundantly more than that. Although these seeds are still part of the overall root and growth, we also are seeing roots for housing provision for those in cancer treatment programs, offices for numerous non-profits working with children in and around the city - both orphans and children from families. This blend of children from various backgrounds in the same space, experiencing the same programming, and growing together is something we are very excited about! We have formed the roots of a business model as well which includes the management of 20 rooms still running as a hotel. This has given us the opportunity to connect with people from Romania and internationals visiting in a way that we would not have imagined. With a breakfast “staffed” with someone from the church it has allowed us to serve and have conversations with the people staying here. We have been able to connect, build relationships and have a reputation of being a place that people feel welcomed and seen.
We are faithfully watching everything take root and anticipate this process will continue through the end of the year. In 2022, we anticipate having the rooms for cancer patients full, offering day activities and special events for women, Alfa Grup continuing to minister out of their offices in the center and the young adults of RAZA living in some of the rooms at the center! We see a root of partnership with a non-profit seeking to prevent substance abuse in teenagers forming and we are witnessing the roots of a coffee shop for teenagers to gather take shape as well. The financial support and investment from Hyde Park Community UMC was instrumental in making this God dream a reality. We are very excited to be able to greet the team coming next spring and partner together in the ministry that is happening in the Community Center! We are hopeful that together we will witness sprouts coming up and can celebrate how we are partnering with God in helping to transform Cluj, Romania!
Needed: $8,000 is needed to help continue the transformation of the hotel to a Community Center that will impact every generation! Please also be in prayer for the Global Serve Team from HPCUMC that will travel to Cluj in March 2022.

MISSIONARY IN CLUJ, ROMANIA The financial request I made early in 2021 to Hyde Park Community was to help me acquire a reliable car for ministry. This planting has rooted in unexpected ways by being part of a long term rental program and so the car I have at any given time is not always the same! However, the reliability of the car and the way that it helps meet my needs for ministry is constant. Sometimes, even in planting, we must be flexible with what starts to take root! This fall, access to a car has enabled me to begin to invest in a new ministry at our village community center! While the ministry itself is still taking root and we are discerning new opportunities to help with education for the Roma children, it is exciting to be able to join in where I otherwise would be unable! HPCUMC has also allowed me to take Romanian language classes over this last year. While the process of learning has been slow, I have noticed an increase in my ability to understand and create simple sentences in order to form a connection with others. I have noticed numerous grammar strides and recognizing written language! Counseling is in its planting phase as we are figuring out the logistics ensuring that I have everything I need to have official one on one talk therapy. We shall see how language continues to influence the way this takes root. As I look forward towards 2022, many of the needs for reliable transportation and language - remain the same. I look forward to when planting and rooting begins to sprout and start into the growth phase in noticeable ways!

SAMARA, RUSSIA
Our siblings at the Samara United Methodist Church continue to faithfully meet their neighbors where they are in order to sow seeds of hope. This year, our partners have worked tirelessly to meet the specific needs of women, children, teenagers, young adults, and those experiencing homelessness. The next Global Serve Trip to Samara, Russia is planned for June 2022. As you read of the God-dreams taking root, please consider if God is planting seeds in you to serve alongside our partners in Samara? As they move forward with the planning for Divorce Recovery ministry for women, Pastor Natalia and the church have utilized their social media accounts to invite new women to engage in the ministry. Church members who work in digital marketing helped to create and launch this social media strategy for this ministry. Samara UMC continues its weekly Helping Hand ministry to those experiencing homelessness and those in need of a hot meal and clothes. Pastor Natalia is looking for an assistant that will enable the ministry with the homeless to grow. Timeclub and Cafe for teenagers and youth has seen growth. The program has both regular meetings with some special events like burger parties, movie nights and a city walk to connect with both club members and non-believers.
Bible classes have sprouted as new young people joined the group and want to know more about the Bible.

Tijuana Christian Mission MEXICO
This year has been a year of unexpected hurdles and also of immense blessings here at Tijuana Christian Mission (TCM) in Mexico. Due to the pandemic, our children are still “homeschooling” a majority of the time. While some visitors have started to make short trips to visit us, something that continues to have a big impact on us is the lack of mission teams coming to serve alongside us. We love these visits for the
energy and love they bring to our home and children, but also rely on the help they provide around our homes and the ways they provide for us financially. However, in a year filled with so many unknown and unexpected circumstances, God always provided. The seeds that you planted at Easter time continued to provide for us throughout the year. We currently have over 50 children in our family and know that they have never been left without anything they need.

Entering 2021, we had no idea how important our medical fund would become this year that HPCUMC helped to start. With a family so large, there will always be countless doctor and dentist appointments that come up. However this year, we were faced with two very big challenges that our medical fund was able to cover. We have a seven year old girl with hemophilia and related medical challenges. After years of medical stability, this sweet girl became very unhealthy again. Her year was filled with evaluations, tests, and many different doctors’ appointments. We continued to trust that the Lord would provide, and through God’s faithfulness and healing and the wisdom of an incredible doctor, we are so happy to announce that our sweet girl is in great health again! In September 2021, we were faced with another huge medical hurdle
in our home – our first cases of COVID. Eleven children/ teens and two staff members tested positive with COVID. This led us to weeks of quarantine, multiple COVID tests for our children and staff members and many doctors’ appointments and follow-ups. However, once again, the Lord was faithful. On October 14, 2021, our last child was able to leave quarantine. All of our children and staff continue without lasting symptoms and are thankful for the ways we witnessed the Lord healing and protecting our home. An exciting update is the construction of our high school Super Dorm in Rosarito! A California church has taken on the project of completing this building in 2022. Our hope is to fill the dorm with many of our high school students by the start of the next school year. We are continuing to raise funds to maintain this new dorm, which will include more children, more supplies and more staff members. This year, the Lord answered our prayers by sending us some new incredible dorm parents who are fulfilling God’s call loving and caring for the children in our home. Thank you, Hyde Park Community UMC, for the seeds that you planted in our ministry and for being an important part of our children’s lives and of our home.

The next Global Serve Trip to TCM is planned for after Christmas 2022 into early January 2023.
