HUNTING SEASON
January - December
Zimbabwe enjoys a hunting season year-round. Seasonal rains fall in the later and early parts of the year (November – April) and breathe new life into the sun scorched bushveld. Early season hunting is more challenging, but takes place in a beautiful green landscape not experienced later in the year. These months provide good opportunity for leopard and crop-raiding elephant while the drier months allow all major species to be hunted.

CLIMATE
Health & Fitness Zimbabwe has a sub-tropical climate and is generally temperate to warm all year, with cool to cold evenings and warm days during the winter months. Temperatures can vary greatly from night to day, so hunters should be prepared to layer their clothing and not underestimate the low temperatures of June – August when early morning freezes are common. Zimbabwe is a malaria zone, with the lowveld and Zambezi Valley being the areas with the most prevalence. Clients should take the necessary precautions when hunting those areas and are advised to consult with their personal physician. Your professional hunter carries a first aid kit and sophisticated medical services are available in the larger Zimbabwean towns and cities. Our hunting areas are vast and unspoiled, which also means that our hunting is not for the unfit. Please train for this type of hunting in the months leading up to your safari so that you arrive in a good level of physical fitness.

WEAPONS
& Ammunition Zimbabwe is tourist-friendly for the temporary importation of firearms by hunting clients. For those hunters who wish to travel without firearms, we can provide clients with the use of firearms and ammunition for their safari (hire fees applicable). For large dangerous game (elephant, buffalo, lion, hippo) the minimum required caliber for use in Zimbabwe is the .375 H&H. The .375 H&H is the only suitable option for a one-rifle battery as it can be used with excellent results for both dangerous game and plains game alike. For the client who prefers two rifles, we recommend that a plains game rifle should be anything from 7mm upwards, but preferably any of the .300 or .338 calibers. Bow-hunting is allowed in Zimbabwe for non-dangerous game and a license and fee are required for the temporary import of a bow. Some dangerous game species are allowed to be hunted with a bow on private land. SHANGANI SAFARI AREA Shangani ranch, located near the south-central town of Turk Mine, is a privately-owned safari area comprised of 42,000 acres (17,000 ha) of Kalahari sands and mopane woodlands interspersed with the granite koppies Zimbabwe is famous for. Renowned for its excellent leopard and plainsgame hunting, Shangani also offers the opportunity for trophy and non-trophy elephant bull hunting with trophy bulls 40-45 lb range and non-trophy bulls being under 33 lbs. Shangani produces some massive leopards which can be taken with traditional baiting methods or with leopard hounds. Hunting with dogs is no longer available in much of Africa making Shangani one of the few places a hunter can experience the adrenalin rush of being on the chase for a big tom leopard with trained hounds. (See separate pricing for Leopard with hounds). Plainsgame species are abundant and of very good trophy quality. Whether rifle hunting or bow hunting from hides, tree stands, or walkand-stalk, Shangani offers the hunter great opportunities for a successful safari.

HUMANI SAFARI AREA This storied private safari area is situated in the world-famous Save Valley Conservancy in Zimbabwe’s southeastern lowveld. Excellent for buffalo, leopard, elephant and plainsgame, Humani offers the hunter an opportunity at any of these dangerous game species in one area. Elephant bulls hunted in Humani are typically in the 40-60 lb range, while buffalo are hard-bossed and mean-tempered and big leopards are normally hunted in the traditional bait & blind manner.
BUBYE VALLEY CONSERVANCY Known as Lemco or the Liebig’s Ranch in by-gone days, the Bubye Valley Conservancy (BVC) is a vast expanse of mopane-studded Zimbabwean lowveld. At nearly one million acres in size, this amazing property is home to all of Africa’s Big 5. Buffalo, leopard, and lion hunting is permitted, offering some of the very best African dangerous game hunting available. Plentiful plainsgame species make for excellent trophies, notably for kudu, waterbuck, bushbuck, eland, warthog, and sable. No bow hunting for dangerous game is permitted at BVC, but the terrain makes for very good walk-and-stalk bow hunting for plainsgame.

Bookings are made with Huntersinc.com LLC per the following: • A safari is confirmed with a 60% deposit on the total daily rate • The balance of 40% is due ninety (90) days prior to the safari • Trophy fees may be prepaid in full, or are payable at the conclusion of the safari prior to the client leaving camp, with primary species trophy fees due thirty (30) days prior to the commencement of the safari
Cancellation Policy: • Cancellations prior to six months (180 days) from the start of the safari are 90% refundable with a 10% handling fee being retained • Cancellations within six months (180 days) from the start of the safari are non-refundable • Alternatively, a hunt may be postponed and re-booked for a later date in the same year or the next, subject to availability and potential price increases
