HUNTING SEASON
May 1 - December 31 Zambia enjoys an extended hunting season from May 1 – December 31. Seasonal rains fall in the later and early parts of the year (November – April) and breathe new life into the dry miombo woodland. With the possible onset of rains in mid-late November it is best to finish your safari by November 15.

CLIMATE
Health & Fitness Zambia has a sub-tropical climate and is generally temperate to warm all year, with cool to cold evenings and warm days during the winter months. Temperatures can vary significantly from night to day, so hunters should be prepared to layer their clothing and not underestimate the low temperatures of the southern hemisphere winter months. Zambia is a malaria-endemic zone, so clients should take the necessary precautions when hunting in all areas of Zambia and are advised to consult with their personal physician prior to travel for the appropriate malaria prophylaxis. Your professional hunter carries a first aid kit and sophisticated medical services are available in the larger Zambian towns and cities. Our hunting areas are vast and unspoiled, which also means that our hunting is not for the unfit. Please train for this type of hunting in the months leading up to your safari so that you arrive in a good level of physical fitness.

WEAPONS
& Ammunition Zambia is tourist-friendly for the temporary importation of firearms by hunting clients. For those hunters who wish to travel without firearms, we can provide clients with the use of firearms and ammunition for their safari (hire fees applicable). For large dangerous game (elephant, buffalo, lion, hippo) the minimum required caliber for use in Zambia is the .375 H&H. The .375 H&H is the only suitable option for a onerifle battery as it can be used with excellent results for both dangerous game and plains game alike. For the client who prefers two rifles, we recommend that a plains game rifle should be anything from 7mm upwards, but preferably any of the .300 or .338 calibers. Bow-hunting is allowed in Zambia for all species, both dangerous and non-dangerous game. This fact makes Zambia an excellent option for the archer who wants to collect dangerous game species not allowable with bow in most other African countries. LAKE KARIBA / ZAMBEZI SAFARI AREA This vast and picturesque man-made sea is home to abundant land-based and aquatic wildlife. Some of our very best crocodile and hippo hunting takes place on the lake and up into the mouth of the mighty Zambezi river. We operate 2 camps in our Kariba hunting area and in addition to our large mainland concession, we also have the very unique opportunity to hunt 5,000 acres (2,000 ha) of large islands in Lake Kariba. Crocodile, hippo, impala, warthog, Chobe bushbuck, Blue wildebeest, kudu, Livingstone’s eland, Common reedbuck, klipspringer, Grey duiker and zebra are available in the Lake Kariba hunting areas. Limited numbers of Puku and the endemic Crawshay’s Defassa waterbuck are found only on the islands. For the avid bow hunter, this is a one-of-a-kind hunting experience. The islands possess a contrasting biome of dense mopane woodlands adjacent to boulder and grass strewn shorelines which make for a prime spot-and-stalk environment. Depending on which species are being targeted, hunters and their PH will use a boat to navigate the waterways surrounding the islands in order to get into the right terrain to attempt a stalk. Tree stands strategically placed on well-used game trails are also an excellent method which bow hunters use to harvest some of the islands’ gems *Animals found on the islands: croc, hippo, impala, warthog, bushbuck, puku, kudu, and waterbuck 3 7
LUANGWA VALLEY SAFARI AREAS The Luangwa Valley’s renown as a great game area goes without saying. Known especially for exceptional lion, buffalo, leopard, croc and hippo hunting, either of our two Luangwa hunting blocks (Tembwe / Nyaminga) offer the hunter the opportunity to collect these species on an unforgettable safari. A diverse assortment of plainsgame species are headlined by the Roan antelope, Puku, and Lichtenstein hartebeest, all of which are plentiful in the miombo and mopane woodlands.
KAFUE SAFARI AREAS The diversity of species available in the Kafue region is unsurpassed. Major hunts take place in the Lunga-Luswishi and Bili Bili safari areas. Excellent for cats, plainsgame and buffalo in certain areas, the Kafue hunting areas are a must for collectors of the many plainsgame species available in the Kafue, especially the long-horned Zambian sable sub-species and rarities like Puku and Crawshay’s Defassa waterbuck. For those wanting to collect the exceptionally beautiful Kafue lechwe, they are available only in the Kafue Flats in the eastern part of the Kafue area, bordering Lochinvar NP. This one-day hunt is an easy add-on to any hunt in Zambia and is a must-have for the serious collector. The day is spent in the presence of large herds of lechwe numbering into the hundreds or thousands, glassing for the best specimen available. 3 8
BANGWEULU SWAMP SAFARI AREA Located in Zambia’s northeast, the Bangweulu swamps are home to the endemic Black lechwe—the only place these striking antelope can be found. Also home to very good Buffalo, Sitatunga, Tsessebe and Oribi this unique wetland offers the hunter an unsurpassed adventure. Sitatunga are primarily hunted using traditional elevated machans which give sweeping views over the papyrus as these aquatic antelope emerge from the thickets to feed in the early mornings and late afternoons. Of special note is our Buffalo / Sitatunga / Black Lechwe package. This exceptional offer includes 7 full days of hunting and trophy fees for one each of these species. Additional animals can be hunted for trophy fees.

Bookings are made with Huntersinc.com LLC per the following: • A safari is confirmed with a 60% deposit on the total daily rate • The balance of 40% is due ninety (90) days prior to the safari • Trophy fees may be prepaid in full, or are payable at the conclusion of the safari prior to the client leaving camp, with primary species trophy fees due thirty (30) days prior to the commencement of the safari
Cancellation Policy: • Cancellations prior to six months (180 days) from the start of the safari are 90% refundable with a 10% handling fee being retained • Cancellations within six months (180 days) from the start of the safari are non-refundable • Alternatively, a hunt may be postponed and re-booked for a later date in the same year or the next, subject to availability and potential price increases
