Medals a mystery

• Issue No 109 • Newcastle’s biggest little community newspaper • May 2023 •

Readers of The Local are being asked to help solve a mystery. The local RSL sub-branch hopes to find the owner of a valuable set of Australian service medals. The medals, pictured at right, were found recently in a local park by a Fire & Rescue Lambton crew while on a job. They were passed on to LambtonNew Lambton RSL sub-branch member in the hope that they might know whose they are. “It’s certainly someone who spent many years in serving in the Defence Forces, including a tour of Vietnam.” Warwick Budden, sub-branch president told The Local. “They received multiple long service awards. These don’t come easily. If not for exemplary military service these would not be awarded.” “It’s a real mystery. We’d really like to get them back in their owner’s hands.” Mr Budden said. If you think you might know the owner of these medals please contact Mark at The Local on 0455 210 000 in the first instance. We can then put you in contact with the RSL sub-branch.
