About the process, the team, and the goals for the company

DEARREADER...

In the first quarter of 2023, we were challenged to find an innovative strategy to support the significant challenges of the Motiva Group While searching in the global market, we were introduced to HUMINT Solutions, the company that has developed a unique methodology for obtaining and utilizing information.

The decision to embark on a project that deviates from the conventional approach where the consultancy does not directly execute activities but instead trains an internal team to make the project more sustainable was crucial. This allows Motiva to continue applying the methodology without the need for external consultants.

The first step involved selecting a team, which was nominated by the Executive Board of the Motiva Group, and choosing ambassadors to support the initiative Subsequently, we underwent an intensive and highly enriching training for our team. It marked a shift in our mindset, as we recognized alternative ways to find solutions for corporate dilemmas in a light manner that adds value to all involved parties

We also engaged in conversations with several leaders who were excited about the new methodology. This approach promises greater clarity in decision-making through the collection of perspectives from persons without conflicts of interest but possessing genuine knowledge to share

Now, I would like to invite you to a quick immersion into our ongoing project through this magazine. This way, we can share with you some of the most important points. In this publication, you will find information about the following:

The TINO methodology

The TINO Motiva team

The TINOs

Pedro Sutter’s perspective on TINO Motiva

Marilia Zulini da Costa Loosli’s perspective on TINO Motiva

THETINOMETHODOLOGY

Information is the most valuable asset for organizations, and that is why the main focus of TINO Motiva is to identify and collect relevant information and apply it to solving various types of dilemmas that may arise for the Motiva Group. TINO has already been successfully implemented in Brazil, some European countries, and Israel and can be best described as a non-technological innovation methodology focusing on ‘learning from people you didn’t think you could learn from’ Innovation is typically described as finding new solutions with existing resources (such as materials). With TINO, we seek existing knowledge and skills that have not yet been recognized. To the right of this page, you will see a graphical explanation.

The intelligent use of knowledge that is available ‘for free’ in the company's ecosystem will help us create solutions and connect them to their respective demands. This dynamic occurs in a light manner through conversations, where the TINO Motiva team seeks to learn from people about the subjects they unconsciously have knowledge of and, most importantly, do not have a direct conflict of interest with

This valuable networking is what is behind the name TINO, which stands for Think Intelligence Network Owner In other words, the TINO Motiva team aims to create a network of contacts. With each conversation, new perspectives are collected. This exchange also provides space for people to be genuinely heard and feel valued, generating benefits for the company and those participating in the process This is what we call a "win-win game" With the creation of this vast database of information and network, we can piece together the "puzzles" with validated hypotheses, important details, and different perspectives, which are continuously sent to decision-makers to contribute a second opinion on pre-selected topics.

It is important to emphasize that our goal is to identify possible areas for improvement or vulnerabilities (what we affectionately call "holes"), but not to investigate individuals According to TINO, it is more effective to "close the holes" than to seek blame or involvement The TINO project will remain active as long as it meets the expectations of Motiva and adds value to our processes.

Companies face costly risks because crucial knowledge often goes unrecognized

Like an old building with blocked pipes, information flows poorly:

We do this by finding & interviewing TIKOsThink Intelligence Knowledge Owners:

How to fix this? By completing push-based information with human, pull-based knowledge.

those at the top receive little, while valuable insights pool below

individuals inside and outside the company, with relevant perspectives and minimal conflict of interest.

TIKOs are overlooked, but their unrecognized knowledge is like leaving money on the floor.

theholes, nottherats!

They help identify buracos (not chase ratos) turning problems into opportunities

In recent months, under the guidance of HUMINT Solutions, we engaged in numerous conversations with various individuals within Motiva to carefully assemble the ideal team for TINO Motiva Our selection process was thorough, taking into consideration backgrounds (skills, experience, and personality), availability, and how well the selected individuals might complement each other. After forming the team, HUMINT Solutions provided comprehensive training, including on-site training focused on addressing specific challenges within Motiva, ensuring they gained hands-on experience that directly benefits our operations at Motiva

Our TINO Motiva team members were trained in three information collection processes provided by HUMINT Solutions:

Type B: Information collected through interviews.

Type C: Information collected through observations

Type D: Information from open-source platforms (eg, social media)

Additionally, they trained the profile they call Type A, which generates intelligence through the integration and analysis of information collected by the other three profiles

The interviews conducted by TINO Type B are carried out with individuals who have the profile of a 'TIKO,' which stands for 'Think Intelligence Knowledge Owners.' TIKOs possess valuable information that has not yet been recognized.

*In a business context, "intelligence" refers to the process of collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data to make informed decisions and gain insights to enhance the performance and competitiveness of an organization

Another characteristic of this profile is the absence of a conflict of interest with the challenges the TINO team is facing This enhances the reliability of the information they provide

To support the process of collecting, validating, and integrating information, the TINO Motiva team is assisted by the features of Knowledge Yard Sale (KYS).

This online platform is developed by HUMINT Solutions and designed to streamline the entire process of systematic collection of unrecognized knowledge

GET TO KNOW THE TINOS

In the following pages, all members of the TINO team will introduce themselves. You may already be familiar with some of them due to their other roles within Motiva. Each team member combines their TINO responsibilities with other duties within the company

I’ve been working in the Compliance area at Motiva since 2019 Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to meet incredible people from various departments who have shared their knowledge with me, allowing me to learn more about our processes every day Today, I have the honor of leading the TINO Motiva team, guiding conversations in an organized and transparent way, with the goal of uncovering knowledge that hasn’t yet been recognized and directing relevant information to our executive leadership

Together, we face the challenge of giving a voice to the people who are part of our business environment and who, in a genuine way, can contribute to the organization’s growth

I began my journey at Motiva in 2014 through the Trainee Program I worked for about seven years at Motiva NovaDutra in areas related to Planning and Control. Since 2021, I’ve been working as a PMO in the GRC Vice Presidency

In the TINO team, I’m responsible for integrating the information gathered during the interviews, aiming to consolidate different perspectives into an executive summary that points to how we can solve a given problem. What I liked most about the TINO methodology is the possibility of finding solutions through the employees themselves, which leads to even greater learning about Motiva.

I hope this methodology brings me both personal and professional growth. I believe that when we find solutions using the methodology and the knowledge of our own people, we’ll achieve true success.

I am part of Motiva's Internal Audit team and have been with the company for three years My professional journey has always been connected to projects, processes, and risks.

In the TINO team, I support the understanding of situations that require improvement Through conversations and observations, I help identify best practices that can enhance our Group’s overall performance

In addition to the learning that comes from sharing experiences within the team, the TINO approach allows for greater interaction across departments and functions, both inside and outside motiva

Motiva This is the main aspect that motivates me Together with the team, I want to transform challenges into solutions, prioritizing those that most impact people's daily lives, so that everyone can build their journey in an efficient and meaningful way That’s what success looks like to me!

I’ve been working at Motiva since the end of 2012, contributing to the company’s legal team Since 2017, I’ve had the honor of leading the legal department at Motiva Trilhos, always with a focus on adding strategic value to our business As a member of the TINO team, I contribute to identifying and analyzing information that drives the adoption of best practices for the organization's sustainable development. I believe the TINO methodology is a powerful tool for achieving more effective and accurate solutions, fostering not only the company’s evolution but also the personal and professional growth of everyone involved

I work in Motiva for the last 10 years, specifically in the monitoring, development, and research of technologies and materials applicable to the construction and maintenance of road pavements. Recently, I was invited to join the TINO olutions

project, with the challenge of supporting the team in the search for key information that can help the group's teams solve problems that, at first glance, may seem complex, but with small adjustments, can be easily resolved

I'm very excited to contribute to this project, as I believe that the solutions to many situations within the Group are already in-house We can leverage the vast experience of our employees by opening a communication channel whose sole purpose is to improve our activities and work processes

LuisMiguelKlinsky

’ve been at Motiva for almost 5 years, during which I’ve focused on continuous improvement initiatives, Lean practices, and process mapping. I’m currently leading the Operational Planning team for Rodovias

My role in the TINO team is to help gather information, navigating through the organization in this search whether through chats, calls, Teams meetings, or a casual coffee always in a light, transparent, and solutionfocused way.

Here at TINO, we say we’re looking for the holes not the rats!

Through this methodology, I’ve learned how to create a space where people feel comfortable and safe to share their pain points I believe that with TINO, we’ll demystify the idea of “talking about problems” at Motiva.

Count on me to be a channel for elivering

delivering structured information to the highest levels of the organization, so we can “fill one hole at a time,” consistently improving processes and people’s lives

TINO is already a success, as we can clearly see that people are beginning to view it as a safe and calm way to express their challenges and struggles

I've been at ViaQuatro since 2014, when I joined through the Trainee Program. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work in the Implementation, Engineering, and currently, the Maintenance departments. Each stage has been essential for my growth and for gaining a better understanding of the impact our work has on urban mobility. More recently, I started participating in the TINO project an initiative aimed at gaining deeper insights into the company's processes, listening to employees, and finding olutions

solutions based on the knowledge we already have in-house. It’s been an enriching experience that highlights how much we can grow together I’m very proud to be part of this journey!

I work as a Talent Attraction Analyst at Motiva, focusing on strategic and executive-level positions I'm a trained advertiser, have worked in market intelligence, spent time at agencies, and also have a background in acting After this journey, I found a true sense of fulfillment in HR especially in seeing the positive impact that opportunities can have on people's lives In the TINO team, I serve as a type D member, contributing to the identification of relevant information from open sources This role aligns closely with my daily routine, which already involves interacting with a wide lready

range of internal and external profiles. To me, the success of TINO lies in transforming internal knowledge into a strategic advantage for the business

I joined Motiva in 2024 as an intern in Executive Talent Acquisition. I work on Entry-Level Talent Programs, supporting Attraction and Selection initiatives, and also contribute to the hiring process for executive-level talent On the TINO team, I’m part of the "D" group, where I help manage and provide access to information on an open platform promoting recognition of the TIKOS and integrating valuable data that already exists within the company Alongside the team, my goal is to add value to our people while continuously learning how to turn obstacles into effective solutions. The methodology encourages powerful reflections and sharpens our perceptions, with a meaningful impact lutions

on both professional and personal life It's a unique opportunity to give voice to those who haven’t yet realized the great transformative potential of the knowledge they already possess for the company's growth

My journey at Motiva includes two periods, totaling 5 years and half of experience During this time, I developed strong technical background and had the opportunity to work across various areas, which helped me to build a holistic view of the business I'm very excited about the TINO project, which uses an innovative methodology to identify failures and improvement opportunities through a unique approach The project encourages both personal and professional reflection, challenging us to rethink processes and see failures through the lens of people something I truly value as it breaks away from conventional methods. Being part of utions

TINO is a motivating experience that reinforces my commitment to excellence and continuous development within the company

I've been at Motiva for a little over two years, working in the Technology department, always dedicated to supporting any issues related to technology and digital matters in general. On the TINO team, I’m responsible for organizing and supporting the information we receive through various conversations, observations, and meetings conducted by the rest of the active team. TINO plays a crucial role in our company, as we are responsible for filling the "gaps" that may be impacting our operations while also gaining deeper insight into the different paths each person takes, both within the Group and with external partners I remain fully ommidted

committed to supporting problemsolving in the best way possible, living by our motto: "TINO begins where AI ends"

PEDROSUTTER, SUSTAINTABILITY,RISK &COMPLIANCEVP

“TINO is a very special project because it begins where artificial intelligence ends We already have a lot of information from the different systems we use, but now we can connect them with those who understand the challenges we face, to bring solutions more quickly and effectively to decision-making at Motiva.

In this way, through the collaboration of HUMINT Solutions consultants and the inspired work of our team, we benefit from a flow of information to act in an integrated manner, in line with our culture and our strategic pillar of superior efficiency”

MARILIAZULINI,EXECUTIVE MANAGEROFCOMPLIANCE

We work daily with information and knowledge, which are valuable assets for our activities With the TINO methodology, we have developed an innovative way to gather knowledge and different perspectives on topics that concern us in our daily work. We have realized that people from various areas and hierarchical levels can contribute to building simple solutions and addressing vulnerabilities in our processes and controls. Sometimes, information is found where least expected, and the TINO methodology has taught us where and how to seek the source

Motiva's leadership highlights concerns that are on its risk map. Our challenge is to provide possible answers quickly and efficiently, with different perspectives and reliable information Using the methodology, people genuinely contribute their viewpoints without conflicts of interest or fear of harming themselves. This is quite different from what we, in the VP GRC, are accustomed to doing, and we believe it will generate value for Motiva

During the preparation session for the climbing event for the ambassadors, together with the TINO Motiva team and the HUMINT Solutions team. Marília is the second person standing in the center, from right to left.

EXPERIENCEOFTHETIKOS

Since its activation in 2023, the TINO team conducted interviews with hundreds of people, both within and outside Motiva Here, you can explore the reflections of some of the individuals we interviewed in their role as TIKOs, sharing their perspectives on the experience

RodrigoAndradeSouza

"It's always good to talk about the actions and processes involving my area and, in this way, contribute even more to the development of ideas that will add up to the improvement of processes in the Motiva Group."

“Regarding the visit, it was productive. I understood that the main idea is to share perspectives and perhaps contribute to the entire group, or even suggest whether it's worth implementing something that didn't work in another unit”

"The best feeling we can have in projects of this nature is the certainty that we have been heard and understood through our experiences The active listening and the ease of the interview were the key factors that allowed the conversation and contributions to process improvements to flow. Congratulations to everyone involved in the project!"

“It was an incredible experience, with the company willing to listen to employees about their personal and professional lives, asking for suggestions for the work environment. This is great because it demonstrates the company's interest in providing an increasingly healthy and, above all, safe environment” JulianaMagalhãesV.Salomão

GabrielVicenteAlvesde MirandaRamos CustomerServiceandSafety

“I started working with a formal employment contract at the age of 18, and since I began my journey here at Via Mobilidade, it has been my best professional experience. I have never felt as valued as I do today, and initiatives like this, reaching out to employees to hear their suggestions, only demonstrate how much the company cares about fostering a culture of safety and well-being Such a gesture shows me that the corporate value "Safety is our condition of existence" is much more than a catchy and impactful phrase; it is indeed a corporate dogma.”

ManoelMessiasSantos Ribeiro CustomerServiceandSafety

ThiagoHenriqueFazani

“It was very gratifying to be able to participate and provide suggestions for solutions and improvements to a problem that affects not only the maintenance area but various areas of the company Additionally, being able to share a bit of our work and field knowledge with everyone involved was valuable The way the project team approached us and made us feel comfortable to express our perspectives was excellent Congratulations to everyone involved.”

FabioPompeu Maintenance

“It was a pleasure to share the knowledge gained during these years of field operation with maintenance and actively contribute to the topic addressed by the project team, concerning issues that are prevalent and routine in open-air metro-rail operations.”

JuliaMonturilMartins Governance

“The surprisingly innovative and, at the same time, welcoming and precise approach made the environment more conducive to open and unrestricted conversations I felt a mix of pride and gratitude at that moment. Pride in being able to contribute, within my expertise, to the continuous improvement of Motiva Group's processes. Gratitude for truly feeling respected as both a professional and an individual Congratulations to the TINO team”
