FACTSHEET MASTER’S PROGRAMME

FILM & TELEVISION CULTURES Dear MA FTC students, Welcome to the Master’s programme in Film and Television Cultures (FTC) at Utrecht University! We, the coordinators and teachers of the programme, are looking forward to meeting and working with you. In the upcoming academic year, you will learn about the media industries, interact with media professionals, analyse film and television content, and - most importantly - conduct academic research, based on your own interests, and supervised by our enthusiastic team of teachers.

DR. HANNA SURMA Hanna Surma is Assistant Professor in Media Studies in the Department of Media and Culture Studies at Utrecht University.

Aim of our programme is to provide you with the knowledge, analytical skills and practical experience that will allow you to contribute to and shape the dynamic media landscape in a critical and constructive way. Therefore, our courses are designed to familiarise you with and engage you in important discussions and research projects on the dynamics and transformations we currently witness in contemporary film and television cultures. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to train your professional skills during your internship, and to kick-start your career in the Dutch or international film and television industries or cultural institutions.
