PROVIDING SECOND CHANCES TO ANIMALS SINCE 1870
You Helped These Rescue Pups Find Homes for the Holidays In the final days of July, the Humane Society of Missouri’s (HSMO) Animal Cruelty Task Force (ACT) performed its biggest rescue in more than a decade. More than 200 dogs were saved from deplorable conditions as temperatures climbed into the 90s. They were transported to HSMO’s headquarters, where their long roads to recovery would begin. The months that followed put a serious strain on HSMO’s resources. With so many new animals needing extensive care, this rescue touched the work lives of every employee in the organization. Several of the animals were able to go to their forever homes in the weeks following the rescue, but many others took longer to heal and recover from all they had been through. The final dog went to her forever home at the end of November, and the final costs were determined. The grand totals are staggering. When veterinary exams, vaccinations, surgical procedures, medications, behavior trainer support, boarding and animal transport are all accounted for, this rescue effort totaled more than $500,000. The Humane Society of Missouri would never be able to provide this extraordinary level of care without the support of our generous donors. Over and over, you step up to the plate and help us make second chances possible. We couldn’t do this without you, and we are so grateful for your continued support! hsmo.org | longmeadowrescueranch.org | amcma.org | StLLostPets.org
