PROVIDING SECOND CHANCES TO ANIMALS SINCE 1870
Thanks to You, More Than Two Dozen Dogs Saved from Dire Conditions, Find Forever Homes Last summer, HSMO rescued 28 dogs from horrific conditions in a North St. Louis County home. The house had no electricity, and the temperature inside the house had soared above 95 degrees. Most of the dogs were found locked in small crates, had no access to food or water, and were covered in urine and feces. Some of them were so weak they could barely lift their heads. They were rushed to our headquarters and were able to receive immediate care, thanks to your generous support. Unfortunately, the investigation and legal process took several months. During this time, we worked tirelessly to care for the dogs even though we didn’t have legal custody of them yet. Because of this, they were unable to be spayed/ neutered or be made available for adoption. But with the hsmo.org | longmeadowrescueranch.org | amcma.org | StLLostPets.org
dedication of our donors, our team was able to continue to give these pups the love and attention they deserved. Our behavior team and shelter staff spent countless hours with them, socializing them and doing everything in their power to make the pups’ extended stay as comfortable as possible. Finally, in early October, we were granted legal custody of all of the dogs we rescued. They received their spay/neuter surgeries and were made available for adoption as soon as they had a clean bill of health.
We are thrilled to report that these pups, thanks to you, got the second chance they deserved. 1
