PROVIDING SECOND CHANCES TO ANIMALS SINCE 1870

Starving and Neglected Animals Pouring into Our Facilities Thanks to You, Our Doors Remain Open to All Animals in Need There has been an alarming influx of animals arriving at our doors. Some come in as owner surrenders, some as the result of rescues, and some as strays simply abandoned on the streets. They all have two things in common: they are frightened and starving. The concern is more and more animals are arriving at our doors as family budgets tighten. But because of you, we are here to care for them. Whether their owners can no longer afford their pets or because of cruelty and neglect, these helpless animals deserve second chances at happy and healthy lives. In November, our Animal Cruelty Task Force (ACT) received tips from concerned citizens about dogs and horses in dire need; seven adult German Shepherds, two adult Bloodhounds, and 12 horses. Our team worked quickly to remove the animals. hsmo.org | longmeadowrescueranch.org | amcma.org | StLLostPets.org

In addition to being drastically underweight, the dogs were infested with fleas and ticks and suffering from open sores. The conditions of the horses were shocking and heartbreaking. All of them were seriously underweight and many had hooves so overgrown that walking was extremely difficult and painful. These animals know they have been rescued. You can see in their eyes. They are grateful for safe shelter, kind veterinary care, and proper nutrition. It is sad to imagine how much these defenseless animals have suffered. But it is so heartwarming to know your support has allowed us to serve as the most respected community animal resource for more than 150 years.

Thanks to you, our doors remain open to all animals in need. 1
