Neo Howled and You Were There Starved and abandoned, Neo saved the pack by howling from the rooftop. In a home in southwest Missouri, the owner died leaving the property vacant. Soon inhabited by squatters who eventually moved on, they left behind three dogs and four puppies. Abandoned with no food or water and no means of escape, Neo climbed out of a second story window and onto the roof. His howls caught the attention of a neighbor who called the Newton County sheriff, who then called HSMO’s Animal Cruelty Task Force. Upon arrival, ACT investigators found Neo, Nora, and Nina, an emaciated, nursing mother of four newborn pups. All were rushed back to the expert veterinarians and staff at HSMO headquarters for the loving attention they needed. Dubbed the Newton County 7, each one has made their way to new families and a second chance. You along with many other heroes joined Neo in making a big difference for these seven lucky dogs. Thank you for helping transform lives, one tail at a time, for thousands of dogs like Neo, Nina, Nancy, Nebula, Ned, Nemo and Nora! 1
