MarkxRenjun

Renjun leaned back in his chair, the soft hum of the air conditioner a comforting white noise as he scrolled through social media on his phone. It was just past 10 PM, and the house was quiet, offering him a rare moment of solitude.

His eyes were heavy with fatigue from a long day of composing, but his mind was still buzzing with musical ideas. Just as he was about to close his eyes for a brief nap, his phone rang, startling him.The caller ID displayed "Mark," and Renjun hesitated for a moment before answering.

"Hey, Mark, what's up?" he said, trying to sound casual."Hey, Renjun, can you come out to the park? There's something I need to show you,"

Mark's voice came through the line, slightly muffled but urgent.

Renjun glanced out the window at the dark night sky. "Now? Isn't it kind of late?"

“Trust me, it's important. I'm at the small garden near your place. Please, just come," Mark insisted, his tone leaving no room for argument. With a sigh, Renjun agreed.

He grabbed his jacket and slipped on his shoes, wondering what could be so urgent at this hour. As he walked towards the park, the cool night air brushed against his face, clearing his mind a bit.

The park was only a short walk away, and within minutes, he spotted Mark sitting on a large stone, gazing up at the starry sky.Renjun approached cautiously, his footsteps silent on the grass. "Mark?" he called softly, not wanting to startle him.Mark turned, a gentle smile spreading across his face. He reached out a hand, beckoning Renjun to sit beside him.

"Thanks for coming," he said, his voice low and soothing.Renjun took the offered hand, feeling the warmth of Mark's touch as he settled down beside him.

Mark brushed off the stone carefully, ensuring there was no dirt or dust on the surface where Renjun would sit. "What's this all about? I thought you had work at the studio," Renjun asked, curiosity piqued.

Mark chuckled lightly, the sound melodic in the quiet night. "I did, but this couldn't wait. Do you remember that song you wrote, 'That Star'?"Renjun's eyes widened slightly, a flush creeping up his neck. That song was personal, a raw expression of the frustration and helplessness he'd felt, trapped under the weight of stress with no clear way out.

Sharing it with his friends had left him feeling exposed. "Yeah, I remember. Why?"Mark didn't answer right away. Instead, he pulled out his phone and handed it to Renjun, along with a pair of earphones. "Put these on," he instructed, his eyes twinkling with an unspoken excitement.

Renjun hesitated but then obeyed, inserting the earbuds and looking questioningly at Mark. With a nod, Mark pressed play on the device, and instantly, soft music filled Renjun's ears.

The melody was hauntingly beautiful, a gentle echo of the sorrow and frustration in yet offering a sense of hope and understanding. As the lyrics unfolded, touching on themes of solace and companionship, it felt like the song was speaking directly to his soul.

Unexpectedly, tears welled up in Renjun's eyes, his heart aching in the best way possible. The song ended, and Renjun removed the earphones, wiping away the tears.

"What was that? A new song? What's it called?" he asked, his voice trembling slightly.Mark took the earphones back, his expression soft and understanding. "It's called 'Rains in Heaven.' I wrote it as a response to your beautiful song. When you're feeling down or alone, just know that I'm here for you. You're never truly alone."

Renjun swallowed hard, touched by the depth of Mark's gesture. "It's...beautiful. The lyrics, they mean so much," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. He hadn't realized how much he needed to hear those words until now.

Mark smiled, reaching out to gently squeeze Renjun's hand. "I'm glad you liked it. Music has a way of connecting us, don't you think? Even when words fail, a melody can carry everything we feel."Renjun nodded, his emotions still raw from the powerful song.

He looked up at the stars, feeling a sense of peace wash over him. "Yeah, it does. Thank you, Mark," he said, his gratitude sincere. As they sat in silence, wrapped in the magic of the night and the music, Renjun felt a closeness to Mark he hadn't experienced before.

The air around them seemed charged with a newfound understanding, a bond forged through their shared passion for music. In that quiet moment, with the stars as their witnesses, Renjun realized that no matter how lost he felt, he was never alone.

Renjun nodded, his emotions still raw from the powerful song. He looked up at the stars, feeling a sense of peace wash over him. "Yeah, it does. Thank you, Mark," he said, his gratitude sincere.

Mark noticed the lingering dampness in Renjun's eyes and reached out, gently brushing away a stray tear with his thumb.

His touch was light, almost hesitant, as if afraid to break the fragile moment. "Hey," Mark said softly, a tender smile on his face, "don’t cry. This was supposed to make you happy, remember?

"Renjun sniffled, a shy smile forming on his lips. "I am happy. It's just... I don't know, overwhelming.

"Mark chuckled, his voice warm and comforting. "Good overwhelming, I hope. Because if not, I’ll have to write another song to cheer you up, and trust me, it might not be as good.

"Renjun let out a small laugh, feeling lighter. "Well, as long as it's not a sad country song, I think I'll survive."

After a few moments, Mark stood up and stretched, then turned to Renjun with a playful grin. "Okay, I think we've had enough emotional bonding for one night. My tear quota has been reached," he teased, wiping away a nonexistent tear.

Renjun let out a small laugh, feeling lighter. "You? Crying? Now that's something I'd pay to see.”

Mark feigned offense, placing a hand over his heart dramatically. "I’ll have you know, I’m very sensitive. A true artist is always in touch with his emotions."Renjun rolled his eyes, standing up as well.

"Right, right. And I'm the queen of England."Mark chuckled, shaking his head.

"Come on, Your Majesty. Let me walk you home before you start issuing royal decrees or something." He gently nudged Renjun’s shoulder, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

As they walked back, Renjun found himself smiling. He felt grateful not just for the song Mark had written, but for moments like these, where everything felt simple and okay.

It was exactly what he needed. When they reached Renjun’s doorstep, Mark turned to him with a mischievous smile. “So, same time tomorrow? Maybe we can stargaze and solve world hunger next?”Renjun laughed, shaking his head.

“Sure, but only if you bring snacks. I’m not saving the world on an empty stomach.”

Mark saluted playfully. “Snacks it is. Good night, Renjun.” He gave a small wave and turned to leave, but not before Renjun called out after him.

“Hey, Mark?”Mark turned back, raising an eyebrow. “Yeah?”

“Thanks for everything. Really,” Renjun said, his voice sincere.

Mark's smile softened, his eyes warm. “Anytime. Get some rest, okay?”

As Mark disappeared into the night, Renjun entered his house, his heart feeling lighter. Maybe tomorrow wouldn’t be so hard after all.
