A Message From Managing Director,

“In what continues to be challenging economic times, road transport remains the backbone of Britain’s economy and crucially needed for long term growth. As we look ahead through 2026, restoring and sustaining economic confidence will be essential for operators seeking to invest in their fleets, their people and their future At HTC Group, our priority is to ensure that our customers receive the highest levels of service, technical expertise and operational support. This commitment is reflected in our continued investment across the business Most notably, we are currently installing MAHA lift-bed brake testers at all HTC locations during 2026 This enables fully loaded brake testing to be carried out at every inspection in a more efficient way, helping operators maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance and roadworthiness while minimising vehicle downtime. From a vehicle supply point of view, fundamentally the criteria for vehicle choice remains unchanged. Reliability, total cost of ownership and fuel efficiency are still the main drivers behind purchasing decisions, closely followed by the strength of the dealer relationship. We are here to help with all your vehicle needs, from small vans right through to heavy haulage tractor units, whether you are looking for new or used vehicles and the aftersales support which follows ”

Belvedere Remembers: Adrian Chalaye

The Belvedere team were heartbroken at the beginning of the year to lose one of our own and a much-loved friend, Adrian Chalaye

Although Adrian officially joined HTC in 2019, he had been part of the wider Belvedere and local community for over twenty years. Known to everyone and always ready with a smile, he brought positivity and humour wherever he went

Adrian loved nothing more than talking about his passions: American muscle cars racing at Santa Pod, his collection of motorcycles, grass track racing in his earlier years, and of course a good cake usually accompanied by a well-stocked toolbox biscuit supply

He was incredibly proud of his family and often spoke warmly about his wife Jacqueline, daughter Leah and son Luke

Adrian leaves a lasting legacy within the

Belvedere team. He leaves behind not only a big pair of overalls to fill, but many fond memories and friendships that will stay with us always.

DAF I

s Supporting a Practical, Proven Move to

Electric Transport

As decarbonisation gathers pace across the transport sector, DAF is working closely

with operators to ensure the shift to electric is realistic, commercially sound and fully

supported. EV specialists Louis Jones and Anastasia Tegopolou outline what

operators need for a smooth transition and what DAF has learned from electric

trucks already running in day-to-day operations.

Louis Jones, EV & Connected Services Director, DAF Trucks

What Operators Need for a

Successful Switch to Electric

Louis Jones emphasises that an effective

move to electric depends on getting the

operational basics right: understanding which routes are suitable, assessing depot charging capacity, confirming the financial case, and ensuring drivers feel confident with the technology. Reliable aftersales support remains essential throughout.

DAF has focused its EV strategy around

simplifying each of these steps with:

A complete New Generation DAF

tractor units, all using robust LFP

battery technology and covered by an 8-

year battery warranty.

What Real-World Fleet Experience Is Teaching DAF

With electric vehicles already operating at fleets including DP World, Darcica Logistics and Aztek Logistics, DAF has gained valuable insight from real-world

usage. Anastasia Tegopolou highlights three areas shaping the next phase of fleet electrification

What Operators Need for a Successful Switch to Electric

1. Range and Charging Must Match the Application

Feedback from operators shows that DAF Electric models perform strongly on urban and regional work, as well as routes with predictable mileage The key takeaway is the importance of selecting the right battery and configuration for the job, rather than simply choosing the largest capacity available

A well-matched specification protects payload, keeps costs controlled, and ensures charging requirements fit the site’s available power. DAF supports this through detailed operational analysis and tailored recommendations

Anastasia Tegopoulou, EV & Connected Se
ector, DAF Trucks

2. Operational Savings Are Tangible

Real-world deployments have demonstrated several measurable benefits:

Lower energy costs

Reduced mechanical wear and maintenance

Increased efficiency through regenerative braking

More cost-effective depot charging, particularly when integrated with

battery storage

Combined with tax incentives and available funding, many operators are

finding that cost parity with diesel can be reached within approximately

five years, depending on the duty cycle.

3. Drivers Play a Central Role in EV Success

Operators report that drivers value the quieter environment, smooth

torque delivery and reduced fatigue associated with DAF Electric trucks. DAF’s structured handovers and driver training programmes help teams

understand charging procedures, maximise range and get the most from regenerative braking. This support has proven key to fast, successful adoption

Meet Sam Chinnock, DAF Driver Trainer

Sam Chinnock trains drivers on DAF trucks for HTC Group, specialising in electric vehicles. She helps drivers adapt quickly, drive efficiently, and get the most out of zero-emission technology

Maximising EV Range: Tips

From Sam

"Understanding how energy flows through the vehicle is key. Smooth acceleration, maintaining momentum, and using regenerative braking instead of the service brakes make a huge difference. "

Sam also stresses route anticipation planning for gradients, avoiding unnecessary stops, and using onboard coaching tools to track driving efficiency in real time

Sam Chinnock, DAF Driver Trainer, HTC Group

Adapting to Electric Trucks

"Most drivers adapt far quicker

than they expect The smooth,

instant torque and quiet ride catch

everyone off guard "

The biggest surprises? Efficient

driving feels effortless, and the

driving experience is far more

relaxing than diesel trucks less

vibration, no gear changes, and reduced noise means drivers feel

less fatigued at the end of a shift

Onboa

rding Drivers to EVs

"It’s about mindset, not mechanics

Drivers need to know how to drive

efficiently, manage charging, and

use regenerative braking not learn

how to ‘drive’ the truck. "

Operators should guide new EV

drivers on range confidence and charging etiquette With proper

coaching, drivers move from

uncertainty to complete confidence

very quickly.

Project Jolt

Project Jolt: The Spark Igniting the UK’s Electric HGV

Revolution

As we roll into 2026, one thing is clear: the UK freight

sector is no longer asking whether electric HGVs can

work, it’s asking how quickly they can be adopted.

Leading that shift is Project Jolt, a ground-breaking

collaboration uniting fleet operators, OEMs, academics, technology enablers and logistics specialists Together,

we’re tackling one of the industry’s most urgent questions: Can 44-tonne electric trucks deliver the

performance, uptime and economic viability needed to replace diesel? HTC Group, as a key DAF dealer and an

early champion of commercial EV adoption, is pleased to be a part of this transition

“2025 is huge for electrification. Electric is already delivering a positive total cost of ownership versus diesel while cutting emissions.”

Why Project Jolt Matters in 2026

Heavy goods vehicles remain the backbone of UK supply chains, moving essential goods day and night But with diesel vehicle sales set to end during the next decade, the pressure to decarbonise is increasing rapidly Operators can’t afford guesswork, they need evidence

Project Jolt was created for exactly that purpose. As described by consortium members, the project represents an unprecedented coming-together of expertise: academics modelling future energy demand, manufacturers supplying cutting-edge vehicles, and operators trialling them in real-world conditions

Project Jolt

Instead of relying on projections, Project Jolt is generating a uniquely rich dataset built from everyday logistics operations.

Throughout the two-year programme, fleet operators are trialing electric 44-tonnes on their own routes, rotating every few months to ensure a diverse picture of UK haulage patterns

Each vehicle arrives with its own high-power charger, allowing operators to test electrification without major depot works.

Every second of every journey is logged by onboard data recorders, capturing energy use, route profile, driver inputs, weather impacts and charging behaviour

This data is then anonymised and analysed by the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight to

model:

·which routes are best suited for electrification

·what infrastructure locations will be critical in future how payload, terrain and driving style affect energy consumption what operators will need in terms of energy and grid capacity how battery health evolves across different working patterns

Simon Flint, writing from within the consortium, emphasises that battery performance, weather, topography and long-term degradation are all central unknowns the trial aims to clarify

DAF and HTC Group: Demonstrating What Electric Trucks Can Really Do

DAF has invested heavily in scaling up its electric truck production, including new EV-ready lines at its Leyland plant HTC Group is placing these vehicles into the hands of operators who want real-world insight, not marketing claims.

As HTC’s Richard Moorse explains:

“Operators aren’t just asking for specifications, they want proof Each trial shows how electric vehicles behave under real loads, real schedules and real conditions. That’s what builds confidence in electrification”

Early feedback from drivers has been overwhelmingly positive. Many comment on the quietness, smooth torque and improved cab comfort And as several operators in JOLT have reported, once initial range anxiety fades, drivers begin to enjoy the clean, calm, vibration-free nature of eHGVs, benefits that could play a role in attracting the next generation of drivers

Simon Flint, BDM working with P
ojec
JOLT

Across the consortium, fleets are already using JOLT data to: inform future procurement strategies develop credible net-zero roadmaps

·reduce electrification risk through hands-on testing build competitive advantage through greener logistics offerings ·assess how local renewable energy could support operations

Feedback emerging from the project shows that operators value the ability to test electric trucks on everyday duties and then escalate to more challenging routes as confidence grows. Operators Are Already Turning Ins

An Electrification Network in Motion

Infrastructure remains the biggest hurdle, but the picture is improving. Faster chargers are emerging, depot upgrades are accelerating, and manufacturers are sharing deeper insights on battery life and whole-life costs

Simon Flint notes that one of JOLT’s greatest strengths is its ability to identify future energy demand and critical charging locations, something the industry has never had at this level of detail before This modelling will shape how and where future charging networks will grow, ensuring operators aren’t left guessing

HTC Group’s Role: Ensuring Confidence in the Electric Era

HTC Group is committed to making the move to eHGVs practical, cost-effective and based on real operational conditions A central part of this approach is our work

with Flexible Power Systems, whose expertise in energy management and electrification strategy plays a crucial role in our end-to-end solution. Together with

FPS and supported by PACCAR Connect telematics, we provide a fully integrated

pathway to fleet electrification. From detailed route modelling and infrastructure planning to long-term operational support, HTC Group helps operators understand what electrification means for their business today, in real-world terms.

The Bigger Picture: A Sector Moving Forward Together

Perhaps the most powerful message coming from Project Jolt is a sense of collective purpose. Every member, from operators to academics, is contributing data, experience and insight that is greater than the sum of its parts As Simon Flint observed, there is a shared determination to create a transport system that safeguards the wellbeing of future generations. And that sense of mission is accelerating the shift from experimentation to adoption
