CALLING ALL GARDEN ENTHUSIASTS, LEAF IS SEEKING VOLUNTEERS LEAF is a volunteer based nonprofit organization focused on sustainable environmental education for children and adults. LEAF works around the year to educate and inspire the community to grow their own food and to foster a connection with nature through hands-on experiences in gardens. Classes offered, often take place in gardens and through site visits. Regenerative agriculture is the cornerstone of LEAF’s gardening philosophy. No chemical pesticide or herbicides are used. The focus is to improve the soil’s health and to optimize the symbiotic relationship between microbes, plants, and insects. The organization operates three unique gardens: LEAF Stone Garden, LEAF Center and Urban Garden. Each garden is a dynamic living classroom, with individual focuses on regenerative agriculture, innovative and experimental agricultural techniques and community building. The produce grown is donated to local food banks. LEAF welcomes anyone interested in volunteering to help nurture their gardens and work on projects. If you are interested in renting planter beds, LEAF’s community garden offers large planter beds for rent. For more information, please visit https://www.fremontleaf.org/ LEAF will have 20 informational booths at the City of Fremont’s Earth Day Event on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Downtown Event Center in Fremont. Stop by, say hello and ask questions on how you can get involved!
