TAX TIME IS HERE!
Every year during tax season, dedicated volunteers come together to prepare free tax returns for the community. The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program is an IRS-sponsored program that helps eligible low- and moderate-income families file their taxes. Since 2002, the City of Fremont’s Human Services Department, via FRC (Fremont Family Resource Center), has operated a VITA site. Since its inception, the program has helped 40,651 individuals and families and returned over $59 million in combined federal and state refunds. This season, the City will be offering services inperson at the FRC location in addition to two tax preparation days in collaboration with the Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth.
