TAX TIME IS HERE!

Every year during tax season, dedicated volunteers come together to prepare free tax returns for the community. The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program is an IRS-sponsored program that helps eligible low- and moderate-income families file their taxes. Since 2002, the City of Fremont’s Human Services Department, via FRC (Fremont Family Resource Center), has operated a VITA site. Since its inception, the program has helped 40,651 individuals and families and returned over $59 million in combined federal and state refunds. This season, the City will be offering services inperson at the FRC location in addition to two tax preparation days in collaboration with the Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth. Interested in free tax filing? Book your own appointment at the Fremont Family Resource Center by going to calendly.com/ffrc or by calling 510-298-1796 for assistance. For more information on the Age Well Center Lake Elizabeth tax preparation days, call 510-790-6600.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am—4:30pm 510-742-7540

ANNUAL INTERGENERATIONAL ART COMPETITION

Calling All Age Well Center Artists!

For the ninth consecutive year, the City of Fremont’s Human Services Department invites the community to participate in its annual Intergenerational Art Competition, held in recognition of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Month and Older Americans Month this May. This year’s theme, “This Is My Place: Power of Belonging,” celebrates connection, identity, and community across generations. Artists are encouraged to explore what belonging means to them through creative expression.

Prizes will be awarded in older adult, youth, and intergenerational categories with winners announced at a reception on May 7, 2026. Tri-City artists 55 and older, as well as those between the ages of 5 and 21 are encouraged to submit their own original artwork in fine arts, graphic arts, or creative writing/spoken word by April 3, 2026. For details on how to submit your art and more information on the art show visit: city.fremont.gov/artcontest or call either Age Well Center.
