SAFER ROADWAYS FOR ALL USERS Over the past decade, the City of Fremont has been redesigning its roadways to create safer, more balanced streets for everyone—especially the most vulnerable users, such as pedestrians, bicyclists, and seniors. These efforts focus on enhancing infrastructure for walking and biking while reducing vehicle speeds along key corridors.

to reduce conflict points between people and vehicles, and increasing bikeway separation from traffic. The City has also added pedestrian beacons and signals for safer crossings, repaired sidewalks to remove tripping hazards, and upgraded street lighting for better nighttime visibility. In addition to infrastructure upgrades, Fremont is coordinating traffic signal timing to optimize traffic flow and maintain consistent, slower speeds across the network. Together, these improvements support safer mobility choices and greater independence for seniors and people of all ages.
