Celebrating HR’s best vendors Dear Readers, HRM Asia was proud to host the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2016 on September 2. The gala event took place in the exquisite ballroom of Capella Hotel on Singapore’s Sentosa Island, with more than 100 guests enjoying the luxurious hospitality and sumptuous cuisine. There was also plenty of time to network across some excellent wines, and even a roving magician. Of course, the vendor community was also there to celebrate the 29 prizes for the best and most popular HR service providers in Singapore. The categories covered everything from Recruitment Consulting to HR Technology development and Mobility services. HRM Asia readers themselves voted for each of the winners. Some 64 finalists competed across the categories, with some big names sharing the final accolades with both energetic start-ups and hardworking SMEs. Alongside the awards presentations, Safra Radio Power98 presenter Jeremy Ratner handled the emcee duties, and stand-up comedian Fakkah Fuzz provided some hilarious, if not politically correct, observations of life in Singapore to keep the crowd in a festive mood. On behalf of HRM Asia, I want to offer my great thanks, appreciation, and congratulations to all of the nominees and finalist participants in this year’s Awards, as well as the night’s eventual winners. This commemorative guide – published in tandem with our 16.10 issue – highlights the best and brightest of them. For more information on the Awards, a photo gallery, and highlights video, head to www.hrmreaderschoice.com. Congratulations again to all of the organisations listed here, and I wish all our readers excellent HR and services over the year ahead,

Joanna Bush Executive General Manager, HRM Asia

Best Recruitment Firm – Local Best Recruitment Firm – Mass Recruitment Michelle Tai, Head of HR Services with People Advantage, said 2016 began tepidly for the organisation, due to the slowdown of the global economy. “The solution that the team eventually came up with included building upon the revelation that freelancing was an up-and-coming trend and hence, we increased our pool of freelancers,” said Tai. This innovation was perhaps one of the catalysts for People Advantage’s victories in both the Best Recruitment Firm – Local, and Best Recruitment Firm – Mass Recruitment categories at the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2016. “As a young company fighting in a highly competitive market with numerous established players, this award serves as a testament to the team’s commitment and efforts,” said Tai. “We are ecstatic to say that this award also serves as a huge win for the HR profession. Not only has this created greater recognition, it also serves as proof of the continuous innovation efforts by our fellow HR companies.” Tai said that as a Certis company, People Advantage has been given the privilege of tapping upon Certis Cisco’s nearly 60 years’ worth of solid experience in recruiting, managing and deployment of large workforces. “Our unique range of services include helping our clients to fill up job vacancies, manage hired personnel, and run ground operations. By engaging us, clients are free to focus on their core business functions,” she added.

Best Recruitment Firm – Accounting, Banking, and Finance Positions While it is a relative newcomer on the recruitment scene in Singapore and Southeast Asia, RGF–HR has taken great strides over the past few years to make a name for itself, particularly among hirers in the accounting, banking, and finance space. Jonathan Guilfoile, Managing Director of RGF Singapore, says across the regional network of 46 offices in Asia, the firm prides itself on recruiting a team of consultants with actual industry experience in their specialised sectors. “For example, our Accounting and Finance team has 26 years of prior accountancy and recruitment experience between them,” he says. “That’s including past roles as Chartered Accountants and Chartered Financial Analysts working in audit, multinationals, and investment banks.” That specialist expertise led HRM Asia readers to vote RGF–HR above all the finalists in the Best Recruitment Firm – Accounting, Banking, and Finance Positions category of the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2016. Guilfoile says the trophy provides recognition of RGF–HR’s fast-won position in the market. “We have always believed in the need to be at the forefront and the importance of building strong, long-term partnerships with clients and talent,” he says. “The award is clear testament to our team’s solid rapport built with a strong client and talent base, coupled with trust gained within the larger employment landscape.” 4

Best Recruitment Firm – Engineering and IT positions Sciente International was founded in 2007 with a purpose to focus purely on IT talent search and recruitment. As Jit Nagpal, CEO of Sciente, says, the company’s founding purpose and deep competencies in the sector make it a very different competitor. It also has a strong focus on community outreach, with 50% of forecast profits being invested in social innovations and community services efforts. “Our awesome team drives the business model to achieve our purpose, which in turn drives us every day to delight our clients and candidates,” he says. “This simplicity is the key to scaling our impact, not only for our clients and candidates, but also for the community we live in”. The company now has a new accolade to prove it is heading in the right direction. It took out the Best Recruitment Firm – Engineering and IT positions at the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2016. With a successful 2016 almost behind it, Sciente will be looking to further expand its leadership position in 2017, Nagpal says. “This award means a lot to us because we have been striving to be the best IT Talent Search and Recruitment firm in Singapore for the last two years,” Nagpal added. “This award has validated our efforts in the right direction – we are aiming for both client and candidate delight through high performance.”

Best Recruitment Firm – Senior Positions Upon winning the Best Recruitment Firm – Senior Positions category at the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2016, Gary Lai, Managing Director – Southeast Asia, Charterhouse Partnership, shared his company’s winning recipe. “I am a firm believer that the main reason why we won the Best Recruitment Firm – Senior Positions award, is down to the calibre of consultants we hire at Charterhouse, and also the tools the company provides to make our consultants successful,” he said. “The consultants we bring on board are often seasoned professionals with an undisputed high level of professionalism and mostly come with both commercial and recruitment experiences.” Lai said he is also a firm advocate of having industry knowledge in the specialised areas where a consultant hires for their client. “In this regard, Charterhouse has subscribed to external research materials where our consultants can access to further develop their industry specialisation. The quality of the consultants and the resources have been critical,” he said. According to Lai, the win was an industry stamp of approval and a recognition of the hard and dedicated work from his organisation’s employees. “It’s not just that Charterhouse has placed many senior professionals with our clients, but it also shows that the clients are happy with our services,” he said.

Best Recruitment Firm – Boutique Recruit INC has a small but dedicated team of highly experienced consultants providing not just recruitment services, but critical strategic advice on workforce issues to clients across Asia-Pacific. Led by founder and CEO Dorcas Tan, the company aims to consistently exceed its clients’ expectations, whether it is for talent acquisition, HR consulting, or project management services. That supreme-level service philosophy captured the imagination of HRM Asia readers, and placed Recruit INC at the head of a compelling list of finalists in the Best Recruitment Firm – Boutique category of the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2016. Tan says it was an impressive field, and Recruit INC was excited to win the prize. “The rest of the finalists were equally impressive,” she says. “Perhaps with the right brand positioning and with the support from everyone from clients to candidates, we were indeed blessed to emerge as winner for this prestigious event.” It has been a “bullish” year for Recruit INC in 2016, but softer economic conditions ahead may mean a slowdown next year. Tan says the award will provide extra motivation for those challenges ahead, giving her team the confidence to continue striving ahead. “This is truly a wonderful recognition for the team’s hard work,” she says. “Winning this award means that we will have to scale even greater heights from here. The journey towards excellence doesn’t stop here.”

Best HR Tech – Outsourcing Best Recruitment Firm – Client Experience Resource Solutions straddles two distinct HR vendor spaces; utilising its own applicant tracking system, “talentsource” to consult with a wide range of clients on tailor-made recruitment outsourcing solutions. The company was a unique winner at the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2016, taking home the prizes for both Best HR Tech – Outsourcing, and Best Recruitment Firm – Client Experience. “We are extremely proud to have been recognised in two categories, particularly as these awards are voted for by your readers,” Simon Bradberry, Managing Director of Resource Solutions in Asia-Pacific told HRM Asia. “We believe in offering a quality service to our clients that delivers tangible value to their businesses, so it is very important to us that when we are recognised for the services we deliver.” The proprietary ‘talentsource’ platform supports all facets of the recruitment process, whether it is via either agency or non-agency channels. “We have developed ‘talentsource’ using the best recruitment experts in the industry to create a tool that supports a high quality recruitment process outsourcing or managed service provider service delivery,” Head of Business Applications Ian Blake says. “Our deep analysis of new markets has allowed us to future-proof the application by adding rich functionality that conforms to regional and legal requirements.” In particular, that allows Resource Solutions to provide highly-tailored, bespoke solutions that meet its client requirements as closely as possible. 6

Best Corporate Learning & Development Provider When a learning institute such as Kaplan Professional offers thousands of training places yearly, and receives numerous compliments and repeated enrolments from its previous trainees and organisations , it’s people practices can only be among the best possible. This was the key message underlined by Wayne Marriott, Executive Director, Kalan Learning Institute, when Kaplan Professional snagged the Best Corporate Learning and Development provider gong at the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2016. “It is a very special moment,” he said. “It is something very special to be recognised by clients and by peers. There has been a lot of work put in by the team and to receive this award, especially one voted on by our clients, is absolutely fantastic.” The beaming Marriott said he would be “taking it out on the town” following his organisation’s victory. “We’ll be going to have a few drinks and just really celebrating the moment, absolutely,” he said. Marriott said 2016 had been a fruitful year for the company, with the organisation celebrating an increase in enrolments and public inquiries for its SkillsFuture programmes in particular. The HRM Asia Readers Choice Awards 2016 win was a strong testament to the fact that Kaplan had contributed positively to its valued partners, including PSA Corporation, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and HomeTeam NS, he added.

Best Corporate Talent Development Provider TrainingGearAsia is about “igniting performance” among its corporate clients and their workforces. The company emerged as winner of the Best Corporate Talent Development category of the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2016, something Joseph Wong, Behavioural Transformation Coach with TrainingGearAsia, puts down to its tailor-made services. “Being bold and thought-provoking in our approach to talent retention and development has helped us to challenge and re-shape the new mindset of talent development,” he says. “We do not see ourselves as just another provider, but an important business partner to our client’s success.” The global company’s signature “Influence without Authority” programme is expanding into Asia, and the markets of Indonesia, India, Malaysia, China, and Australia in particular. Wong says this is particularly relevant for local employers because the ability to influence is now critically important. TrainingGearAsia also offers a powerful and successful programme on Career Conversions. Wong says the Readers’ Choice Award was a strong endorsement of clients’ faith in the company and its services. “This is certainly spurring us to go higher, and further, and to become greater than we are today. “With this recognition, it is time to get busy and continuing to deliver our promise to our current and future clientele.”

The talent landscape today experiences an accelerating shift and to be ahead of the curve, we believe that building talent for tomorrow is about building the behaviors for success today. TrainingGearAsia Pte Ltd (TGA) has evolved over the years from an experiential learning outfit into a professional talent and behavioral development firm today with specialty into Influence, Change, and Performance. In TGA, we adopt a targeted and customized approach towards learning and leadership intervention. After all, no one organization is the same. Our expertise has been actively featured in multiple national media like The Straits Times, The New Paper, The Business Times, Pioneer Magazine, AsiaOne Business Online and 938 Live.

The courage to be different is a consistent benchmark we embrace in our work. From our thought process, design, right up to delivery, this boldness to be unique has given us the power to be in front of the curve. Introducing new, practical and extremely targeted concepts and solutions are a passion of TGA. Being bold in our thinking has allowed us to forecast unique trends in the areas of increasing and sustaining talent engagement and development. Since the year 2000, TGA has boldly spearheaded three movements and today, the concept has gained significant traction, and we are re-defining the talent space.

Bing ahead has also spurred us to build up a credible network of consultants, trainers, and speakers over the years, with an aim to support our clientele in their various talent development and engagement touch point to create the organization’s experience.

TrainingGearAsia is proud to be the recipient of the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice award for Best Corporate Talent Development Provider, recognizing our excellence across Asia. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all our friends and clientele over the years. We will continue to deliver the best and be the pace setter in the space of talent development.

9/26/2016 11:27:15 AM

We dare to be different by introducing new solution and concept into the talent space, and we are highly passionate about three movements.

Influence Without Authority

TrainingGearAsia has big dreams to shift and transform the talent landscape and most importantly, the mindset about talent and development. We are passionate about how we can discover the science of human motivation to ignite new possibilities and performance. It is not about training, but about targeted individual growth and development.

Influence is one of the top skills required in today’s world and a critical ability to master for leaders, managers, and junior executives. As an organization gets flatter each day, influencing and getting things done through people is essential. As you are reading this, our influence without authority program has gained great traction across Asia. This movement on how leaders can lead without authority is a spirit behind TrainingGearAia where we aspire to see a world where leaders accelerate the growth of their people.

Career Conversation It is not about retaining talent, but how we can ensure our talent return to us one day. We introduced the career conversation movement in 2011. Since early 2015, there has been an increasing need to re-look at talent retention from an entirely new perspective. The spirit of this movement is about closing the gap between leaders and people. If leaders can work towards supporting their people to succeed, we can revolutionize how we can retain people.

Experiential Onboarding

Joseph Wong

Behavioral Transformation Coach

joseph@traininggearasia.com www.traininggearasia.com sg.linkedin.com/in/josephinfluence

Transforming a static orientation program into a highly experiential one is a necessary move to engage new hires. Experiential Onboarding (EO) is an important branding exercise, a crucial piece of the overall talent branding experience and if executed correctly can connect the heart of the new hires to the organization. EO allow the new hires to experience the organization, and this creates a powerful shift in an organization’s brand experience. Today, EO is a successfully trademarked intervention because we are serious about transforming induction.

Best Business Hotel Best Serviced Apartment Group WINNER Steven Loh, General Manager of Capri by Fraser, Changi City/ Singapore, says that as tourism experiences continue to expand and diversify, so too must the industry evolve. “We are seeing how technology is changing the way businesses and industries work,” he said. “Guests today are benefitting greatly as industries such as ours embrace newer, smarter technologies to enhance their approaches in creating integrated services, to differentiate themselves and stay competitive.” Hence, Loh says Changi City Singapore’s approach to business is to remain agile. This agility stood Capri by Fraser, Changi City, Singapore in good stead in the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2016, earning it the prize for Best Business Hotel. It was a double bonanza for parent company Frasers Hospitality, as the organisation was also recognised as the Best Serviced Apartment Group for the second consecutive year. “The award is a great validation to the progress Frasers Hospitality has made in our effort to stay relevant with our facilities, services and even our food and beverages offerings,” said Clara Beng, General Manager. “We will continue to anticipate and exceeds customers’ evolving expectations through continuous innovation and intuitive service to deliver memorable experiences.” “We would like to take this opportunity to thank the HR practitioners, our supporters and partners and most importantly, the shared vision of our hardworking team.”

Best Business Hotel (C-Suite) While it is just a short taxi ride from the centre of Singapore’s business district, The Capella Singapore feels like another world away for its guests. The luxurious combination of modern styling and colonial architecture sits amid the natural paradise of Sentosa Island, but C-Suite leaders setting up base there have access to all of the technology and conveniences needed to do their jobs, and stay connected to key staff and partners all over the world. “Being strategically located on an island of tranquillity, our hotel sits on a 30-arce vast greenery,” says John Png, Executive Assistant Manager for Rooms with Capella Singapore. “This luxury of space in the cosmopolitan city of Singapore allows our business travellers to reside and connect in an environment no other organisation can offer.” The hospitality group also has significant focus on guest services, something that brought it to the attention of HRM Asia readers this year. They selected Capella Singapore as the Best Business Hotel (for C-Suite guests) in the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2016. “Capella Singapore is honoured to be conferred the Best Business Hotel (C-Suite),” Png says. “Being recognised means that we are on the right track and doing the right thing for our guests. We will also continue to do better, by constantly seeking feedback from our staff and guests, as well as challenging ourselves to value-add for every event.”

Best Corporate MICE Venue One of Asia’s best known meetings and conference centres has a further prize for its trophy room this month. Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre was the standout candidate for Best Corporate MICE Venue in the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2016. With over 42,000 square metres of spaces, and the capability to host everything from a 10-person boardroom meeting to a conference for 5,000 delegates, the venue’s flexibility and willingness to make organisers dreams come true helped clinch the award. CH Kong, Senior Director of Marketing and Product Development at Suntec Singapore, says the ideal location in the heart of Singapore’s commercial and retail was another factor helping Suntec stand out from its competition. Further, the venue’s dedication to technology – with high-speed wifi capable of keeping up to 8,000 devices online at the same time – and celebrated culinary options also keep guests and event organisers returning. “Excellent food makes a good event great,” Kong commented. “Suntec Singapore’s in-house award-winning chefs offer exquisite food with menu options of over 800 local favourites and international dishes. “It is such an honour to be recognised and trusted by readers of HRM Asia,” Kong said. “This achievement would not have been possible without the teamwork and dedication of all members of Suntec Singapore, and the support of our stakeholders. “The award will motivate us to strive for greater heights and do even better next year.”

Best HR Tech – Payroll Times Software has been operating in Singapore since 1998, specialising in the development, implementation, support and marketing of a range of technology solutions for the HR function. Its Payroll / HR solution includes several web-based e-modules, including E-Leave, E-Claim, E-HR, E-Recruit, and E-Payslip. Rene Wong, Sales and Marketing Manager with Times Software, says the company‘s vision is to consistently provide easy-to-use and innovative software for its customers. “We also provide excellent customer care and services,” she says, adding that Times Software’s win in the Best HR Tech – Payroll category of the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2016 was evidence that the company had excelled in each of these target areas. “To be awarded this prize is a great achievement for us,” she said. “Credit should go to my staff for their great effort. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our valued customers and supporters. Without them we could not have become what we are today.” Times Software was shortlisted as a finalist across four categories of the Awards, and won the Best Payroll prize for its consistently well received payroll solution. “Even though there is an economic downturn this year, we have been able to sustain healthy business growth. “For 2017, we will continue to maintain our high service standards and will also focus on research and development to further improve our software.”

Unit4’s Human Capital Management platform provided the company with two separate wins in the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2016. The software suite was named Best HR Tech in both the Talent Management and Leave Management categories. Jack van der Velde, Managing Director, Asia-Pacific, Unit4, says the platform also provides for the identification and administration of employees’ competences and skills, analysing employee development and learning, recording of employee performance , and work on succession management. At its core, it is a people-led platform. “It is our belief that software should work the way people want, not the other way around. As such, our solutions are people-driven, intuitive and easy to change,” van der Velde says. “In an increasingly complex and competitive business landscape, our enterprise applications help employees in people-centric organisations work smarter, faster and more intuitively. “The solution allows organisations to retain and attract talent and also helps drive employee engagement by empowering them to take charge of their professional journey.” Van der Velde says the Readers’ Choice wins will mean greater motivation to achieve further success in 2017. “At Unit4, we are in business for people and that includes our own people. The acknowledgement of our hard work propels us to continue innovating and provide quality solutions that are designed to meet the current and future needs of our clients and their people,” he adds.

DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHY BACKGROUND SCREENING FOR HIGH-LEVEL HIRES SHOULD BE A PRIORITY FOR ALL ORGANISATIONS Leadership is more than a position or title; it is action and example. When companies rely on their senior executives to set strategic direction, galvanise employees and steer them towards success, appointing the right captain becomes mission-critical. This process begins with acquiring an accurate and in-depth understanding of the candidate’s background. It is a common misconception that candidates for a senior executive position would not stoop to falsifying or hiding information. In a perfect world, we could perhaps accept everything provided by a candidate at face value. In reality, however, discrepancies do exist. According to First Advantage’s 2016 Asia Pacific Annual Trends, discrepancies relating to employment history are most common (57.7 percent), followed by education (19.3 percent) and database (18.9 percent). Database checks refer to a name check against a collection of various databases that include media, addresses, passport identification, company registry and more. To put this in the real world context, consider that in Hong Kong, a senior executive armed with fake qualifications managed to land herself a HK$870,000 (S$152,000) position as CEO of an education company. She was later convicted of fraud. There was also the case of Yahoo’s former CEO, who embellished his resume and exaggerated his academic credentials. Myer, a leading retail chain in Australia, was also duped into hiring a new general manager based on his misrepresented employment history. It was only through an in-depth background verification check, conducted after he had joined the company, that the truth was uncovered. Shockingly, it turned out that Myer was not the only company to fall prey to his

30-39_HR Tech.indd 39

dishonourable actions; former employers had been hoodwinked as well. MITIGATE RISK WITH BACKGROUND SCREENING Background screening is important for entrylevel employees and mid management hires but at the senior executive level, it is nothing less than essential. This is especially so because of the extent of their responsibilities, the authority that they are bestowed and the access they enjoy to business-critical information such as company details, financial results, business strategies and client data. Before entrusting an individual with a leadership position, it is the onus of the employer to conduct a thorough, far-reaching background check. This is part and parcel of due diligence in the hiring process, and a necessary step to minimise hiring risk. Today, many leading organisations opt for an in-depth, investigative background check—one that goes beyond the standard criminal record searches as well education and employment verifications—to proactively uncover ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’ about a candidate. For example, it is good practice to conduct financial checks on a candidate to determine if they have negative records regarding bankruptcy, credit standing and money laundering. Financial regulatory checks will further reveal if the candidate has been prohibited, disqualified or auctioned by a financial regulatory body in the hiring country. As more executives live, study and work abroad, it has also become increasingly important that employers are able to procure such information on a global basis, and in a timely manner. To deliver a reliable and compliant screening programme, companies can benefit from

Best Corporate Healthcare Group Corporate health is not just about insurance coverage and the occasional screening for staff. Now more than ever before, it encompasses a wide range of lifestyle and wellness services that keep staff in peak condition, leading happier, healthier, and more productive lives. Recognising this, Raffles Medical Group integrates its services into a single corporate solution: the RafflesOne package. This aims to support companies through medical services, group insurance programmes, and employee benefits support. It leverages on Raffles Medical Group’s unique integrated Group Practice model through a comprehensive suite of medical services across the healthcare value-chain. Yong Yih Ming, General Manager of Raffles Medical Group, says the company works on the belief that every company has its own distinctive needs. “We therefore partner our 6,800 corporate clients through customised programmes to match their evolving needs,” he says. “The RafflesOne experience is unique to each corporate client. It is a constantly evolving product that is aligned to new market demands and statutory requirements.” Yong says Raffles’ win in the Best Corporate Healthcare Group category of the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2016 was a testimony to the value it has passed on to HR professionals and their organisations. “It shows how their employees have benefitted from our brand of quality healthcare and hassle-free benefits administration experiences,” he says. “This award will be shared with all our doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals, and managers who have all played a key part in making sure our corporate partners and their employees are well taken care of.”

Best Corporate Wellness Provider For Integrated Health Plans (IHP), collaboration is a key tenet of its modus operandi. For example, the organisation has made innovation a key plank in its offerings, especially when it comes to expanding its range of wellness services. This includes extending its services beyond health screening to areas such as mental wellbeing, chronic disease coaching and immunisations, as well as the usage of telemedicine and mobile technologies, for employee engagement and follow-up. IHP has also closely aligned itself to government efforts in these areas. For example, the organisation is a designated programme manager for the Health Promotion Board of Singapore’s (HPB) SME Workplace Health package. It’s holistic and sustained efforts earned them the Best Corporate Wellness Provider prize at the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2016. “It means a lot to us as this is voted by the readers. The award recognises the efforts of the IHP Team, both front-end and back-end members,” said Dr Walter Lim, Medical Director, IHP. Dr Lim said IHP has done well over the past year, expanding its portfolio of Corporate Clients and partnerships. “We are happy to have grown our member base by more than 30% year-on-year, driven by strong growth in our international customer base including Malaysia and Hong Kong,” he said. In 2017, IHP will continue to grow its geographic footprint, and looks forward to continued growth in our regional clientele.

Best Corporate Employee Rewards In 2013, industry veteran Rosaline Chow founded CXA as a technology-startup to address the challenges and opportunities of an industry that was still operating on an antiquated paper-based model, and was therefore ripe for transformation. Chow said CXA was the first of its kind in Asia. “There is no one with all of CXA’s different capabilities – brokerage, flexible benefits, wellness assessments, and an e-commerce marketplace – in one integrated platform that comes at no additional cost to companies who appoint CXA as a broker,” said Chow. “CXA offers an innovative and powerful ‘next-generation’ benefits platform for employee insurance, health, and wellness that is designed to solve real customer pain points.” The company’s unique offerings in the employee rewards space saw it presented with the Best Corporate Employee Rewards prize at the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2016. According to Chow, the CXA platform is also a health advisor, gathering employee health data such as medical claims, health screening results, wellness activity tracking, and lifestyle risks, and recommending steps to improve each employee’s individual wellbeing. Chow said it was an honour to be voted by HR readers as the top dog in this category. “Winning this award inspires us to continue to create value for our customers, our partners and our investors,” she said.

Best Corporate Training Provider As the working world is in a constant state of metamorphosis, training and development needs are always transforming. Over at Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS), courses are constantly refreshed with the latest curriculum to keep customers at the forefront of evolving business needs. “They are also designed and facilitated in a way that enables participants to assimilate the concepts easily into practical applications,” said Christina Ho, Head, Executive Development Services, Marketing Institute of Singapore. MIS’ enterprising efforts paid off at the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2016, with the organisation picking up the top prize in the Best Corporate Training Provider category. “MIS has been established for 43 years. The history and track records of what we have achieved speak for themselves. Aside from these, our outstanding performance today is attributed to two other critical factors namely: products and people,” said Ho. She said the organisation was glad to have a team of highly dedicated employees, who go beyond the distance in recommending the most suitable courses to customers. “This achievement would not have been possible without this team of passionate individuals, who are motivated in helping others succeed,” Ho said. “It was no easy feat to emerge top amongst the other finalists, and we are honored to have gained the recognition of the industry for delivering the best in what we do.” Ho said MIS will be motivated to perform even better to reward its customers for the trust and vote of confidence they have placed in it. “We would like to share this joyous moment with all our customers, business partners and associates. Thank you for the continued support,” she added.

Best Corporate Leadership Programme Performance Group specialises in executive education, with a range of courses and workshops covering professional and leadership development. Director Margaret Yeow says the company has been in the training space for over 23 years, and has a unique methodology and programme brand: “The Bulletproof Manager”. But while this unique content helps to attract clients, it was Performance Recognition’s devotion to the customer service and quality that gave it the edge over other finalists in the Best Corporate Leadership Programme category at the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2016. “For many years till today, we have focused on the fundamentals... quality products, listening to your clients, and treating your team well,” she says. “We certainly do not have a magic pill. “Technology is good and many of our colleagues in the industry are embracing it. So are we,” Yeow says. “But let’s not forget the basics of life… care for your customers, work hard and do what you promise.” Yeow says the Readers’ Choice Award represents a strong endorsement for this approach. “We know that many of our clients have voted for us,” she says. “We are very grateful and we want to thank them for the continuous support. They are the very reason why we are in this business. “Winning this award, we hope that this will give us more visibility, especially opening doors for us to serve more companies in Singapore.” 42 READERS CHOICE COMMEMORATIVE AWARD GUIDE 2016

Best Corporate Health Wellness Screening Provider Corporate health and wellness are no longer about simply adopting a one-size-fits-all approach to employee wellbeing. The modern workforce consists of different generations of employees, each with specialised needs and demands. It is imperative that corporate wellness providers carefully map out these niche aspects before crafting their offerings. Fullerton Health has done just that, and its efforts have led to it being crowned as winner of the Best Corporate Health Wellness Screening Provider trophy at the HRM Asia Reader’s Choice Awards 2016. “We are always very humbled to receive rewards. Our focus has always been on delivering the best possible service, not on winning accolades,” said Dr Elton Ong, Managing Director (Singapore). “When we do win, we take it as a validation of our patient-centric strategy and an endorsement of our unique value-add to the healthcare ecosystems of the markets we’re in.” Fullerton Health is focused on delivering affordable and accessible healthcare services. “More importantly, we also deliver a top notch clinical experience. Our staff are all technically skilled and service-oriented,” said Dr Ong. “We are also vertically integrated with secondary care providers, including specialists.” Among the major healthcare providers, Dr Ong said Fullerton Health was the most committed to investing in new technologies to enhance its patients’ health and experience. “This year, we have been sharply focused on organic growth in the five territories that we now operate in,” he said.
