Perth Then and Now accurately matches historic photographs of the city with specially commissioned contemporary views that show how each site looks today.
Past and present are laid side by side in this fascinating visual tour around the capital of Western Australia. With an Aboriginal history going back over 40,000 years, Perth ranks among the oldest places on earth with near continuous human habitation. When it was formed in 1829, modern Perth was a small country town teetering on an economic knife-edge. Then, in the 1890s, commercial quantities of gold were discovered in the North and East of Western Australia. Perth demonstrated its newfound wealth in the form of grandiose buildings, transforming into a fine city. Since then, successive cycles of ‘boom and bust’ have added further layers of development to Perth’s rich tapestry, with some spectacular and imaginative reuses of older buildings.

FIRE explores the creative, practical and ancestral ways that humans embrace and work with flames. Both beautiful and informative, this book is an exploration of an ancient and powerful element.
‘This book carries embers from many places – myth and memory, science and soil, ritual and resistance. It asks not only how we shape fire, but how fire has shaped us.’
Urban woodsman and oral storyteller Richard Skrein deftly guides us through the history of fire and its practical uses around the world. Fire explores the practical, creative and inspirational, weaving together ways to build a fire, and crafts such as clay-fired pottery, with myths and folklore told at the fireside. Discover how to gather kindling or make a bow drill to spark a flame, learn how to cook a feast on the flames and embrace the power this ancient element.
RICHARD SKREIN can be found in the woods and on the coastlines of Europe and beyond, and is an experienced educational professional with a profound and enduring passion for outdoor education. A born Londoner with a wandering spirit, he loves nothing more than to learn new (and ancient) ways of connecting with the natural world, before sharing that knowledge with others. He believes deeply in the power of the outdoors to educate, nurture and inspire.

‘Ruby’s style is not only fun and approachable but also utterly delicious’
Ravneet Gill
In this book, we all jump aboard the carb-ocoaster to showcase the world's top-rated cakes.
In Around the World in 80 Cakes , Ruby shares the history of each bake, where it originated from, its flavour profiles and what it pairs well with. Whether it be a French Opera Cake, a Uruguayan Chaja or a Filipino Sans Rival, there will be a little something to tickle just about everyone’s pickle.
As someone who has lived and breathed all things baking since reaching The Great British Bake Off final, Ruby has found a new way to bake on this sugar trip around the globe. Not only has she been educating her palette, but she has also been educating her repertoire too. She's levelled up and become a better baker because of the challenge of this concept; learning from other cultures and countries, adopting new methods and improving because of it.
This is adventurous baking for those who love eating and making cakes.

During a dark period of unemployment, baking provided RUBY BHOGAL with a productive outlet to regain some order in her life. While her love of baking began as a meditative hobby, it soon provided a once-in-alifetime opportunity to compete as a finalist on the Great British Bake Off in 2018. Since then, she has acquired a huge (and loyal) following online and makes regular appearances in print, at live events and on TV, where her confidence and chatty personality shines through.

‘Had us salivating … Butcher writes like a dream, really knows her Middle Eastern foodstuffs and offers enticing recipes. An absolute must for the vegetarian on your gift list’
Delicious Magazine
Full of nostalgia, new inventions and lots of soupy goodness; this is the history, and the future, of our favourite soups from around the world.
‘Ash Paz’ is the Farsi word for chef, but translate it literally and you get ‘soup maker’. Ash is a particular range of soups almost unique to Iran, and their significance to Persian culture is signified by the fact that they define someone’s qualification as a chef i.e. if you can make ash you make the grade in the kitchen.
Soup IS important. The Iranians have got it right. The first cooked food almost certainly consisted of some form of broth, and the art of cookery, and indeed eating for pleasure rather than survival, evolved globally out of the first soup and stock pots.
Soup is an inexpensive, fast and tasty way to provide nutrition. Many communities and friendships have been formed over the preparation, distribution and consumption of soup – as well as recipe swapping, which makes the foundations of this book.

SALLY BUTCHER is the fieryhaired proprietress of the Persian food store Persepolis in Peckham, London, which she runs with her husband Jamshid. She is a bestselling author and avid blogger, who has amassed a devoted online following for her food-, shop- and Peckhamrelated musings. Her first book, Persia in Peckham, was shortlisted for the 2008 André Simon Award. It was also selected by the Sunday Times as their cookery book of the year. Her following tomes, Persepolis , Veggiestan and Snackistan are published by Pavilion.
Nerdy, addictive and gloriously cinematic – this is the ultimate bucket list for movie lovers who take their fandom global.
A wildly fun, chronological journey through the reallife locations behind cinema’s most iconic moments, this book blends juicy behind-the-scenes stories with breathtaking photography. It’s movie history you can actually step into.
Start at the Lumière Brothers’ La Ciotat Station (yes, you can film your own arriving train), slip through Kyoto’s Rashomon gates, Jackie Chan’s legendary Hong Kong stunt spots, soar over Jurassic Park’s Hawaiian cliffs, wander Hobbiton’s storybook hills, bask on Bond’s sunlit Jamaican shores, and descend into the unforgettable tunnel of Parasite’s Seoul.
Each entry reveals why the film mattered, how it shaped moviemaking, and exactly where to go to stand where the magic happened.
