A halloween full of creativity at Elisia Education Hub

Throughout October, the Elisia Education Hub Residence Life team brought the Halloween spirit to campus with two festive events that combined creativity, collaboration, and community fun: the Halloween Door Decorating Contest and a Pumpkin Painting Activity. Both initiatives encouraged residents to express their artistic side while streng thening bonds within the Living-Learning Community.

During the door decorating contest, participants transformed their doors into cinematic masterpieces — from Disney villains to horror classics like IT, and animated favorites with a dark twist such as Coraline and Beetlejuice. The hallways turned into an impressive themed gallery, where each door reflected originality, effort, and the Halloween spirit that united everyone in friendly competition.

Meanwhile, the pumpkin painting activity offered a more relaxed and social atmosphere, inviting residents to enjoy an afternoon of color, laughter, and creativity. Common areas were filled with vibrant designs and shared moments that highlighted the sense of connection among students.

The event also fostered collaboration across departments, as staff and community members joined as judges for the contest — reinforcing the inclusive and participatory environment that defines life at Elisia.

Beyond decoration and artistry, these activities strengthened the sense of belonging that makes Elisia Education Hub unique. They provided residents with the opportunity to share ideas, work as a team, and celebrate one of the most anticipated moments of the semester — all while building lasting memories within a community that truly feels like home.

Honoring Life and Memory: Elisia Education Hub first institutional altar de muertos

In celebration of one of Mexico’s most meaningful traditions, Elisia Education Hub proudly presented its first institutional Altar de Muertos, a collective tribute that united every department in a heartfelt display of remembrance, creativity, and cultural pride.

Coordinated by the Student Life Department, the altar was built on October 27 and 28, with the participation of multiple teams who contributed traditional elements that brought this collaborative project to life. The result was a vibrant space where color, symbolism, and emotion came together to honor

those who continue to inspire our community.

The altar also featured calaveritas literarias — humorous poems written by students — adding a creative and personal touch to the commemoration and showcasing the talent and cultural expression that define Elisia’s community spirit.

As highlighted in the message displayed beside the altar:

“At Elisia Education Hub, the creation of our Altar de Muertos stands as a profound expression of remembrance and cultural identity. Through this tradition, we celebrate life and honor with gratitude those

whose presence has left a lasting mark on our hearts and our community.”

Special recognition was given to all departments for their collaboration — and especially to our students and the College of Engineering, whose creativity, commitment, and sense of unity made this meaningful tradition a reality within our campus.

This first Altar de Muertos marks the beginning of a new tradition at Elisia Education Hub, one that bridges culture, education, and community — reminding us that through remembrance, we continue to celebrate life and the values that connect us all.
