Here at The Howe Enterprise we are deeply saddened by the events that have transpired this week in Howe ISD. We extend prayers for future safety in our community. This week’s article on the event includes citizen input outlining how the situation has been handled, among more information. Howe Athletic Director/Head Football Coach Arrested on Sexual Charges Ashley Husbands Unsettling news has been released this week about the Howe High School Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, Andrew Harvey. Harvey was arrested by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office on charges of solicitation of prostitution/other payor person under 18, online solicitation of a minor sexual conduct, and sale/distribution/ display of harmful material to a minor. In this article, we will review the statements given by Howe ISD, a local concerned parent’s detailed response to the news, and an update of where the situation stands currently.
“Dear Howe ISD Families, We are writing to inform you of a serious matter involving an employee of the Howe ISD Athletics Department. On June 24, 2025, the District was made aware that Andrew Harvey, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach was arrested by the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office on charges of solicitation of prostitution / other payor person under 18, online solicitation of a minor sexual conduct, and sale / distribution / display of harmful material to a minor. At this time, the District has not been provided additional information from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office regarding the arrest or charges.
An email was promptly sent out to parents after the arrest from Howe ISD Superintendent, Kevin Wilson:
Howe ISD takes any allegations or charges involving a child seriously. The safety and wellbeing of our students is
our highest priority. Upon learning of the arrest, Mr. Harvey was immediately placed on administrative leave and is not permitted on any District property or to have any contact with students or staff during the ongoing investigation. We will continue to follow District protocols to comply with legal requirements, and the incident has been reported to the Texas Education Agency State Board for Educator Certification and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Mr. Harvey was hired in Howe ISD in June of 2022. As with all employees, Harvey completed and passed an initial fingerprint-based background check that identifies criminal history results through both the FBI and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Howe Wee Care, held inside Howe Methodist Church, has been a staple in the community for 31 years, as of this year. This week, we sat down with Sharon Woods, who became the Director of Howe Wee Care in May to discuss changes in the school and what is next for the program. According to their website, Howe Wee Care Learning Center is “a non-profit, Christian-based early child-
hood development preschool. The purpose of our preschool is to provide the finest in early childhood education and to direct attention to the Christian faith through value education. Not only will the children be exposed to numbers, letters, colors, and shapes, but they will also learn values for Christian living.” Sharon Woods and her husband Chad first began their involvement in Howe Wee Care when they found out about the program through (Continued on Page 10)
