HOWE’S HAPPENINGS Song of the Week “Deep in the Heart of Texas” Gene Autry

This week’s song of the week is inspired by Howe’s new tagline- “The Heart of North Texas”. It doesn’t get more Texas pride than that, does it? On a side note, did anyone else learn this song in elementary school along with a cheesy clapping and dancing routine to go with it or was that just in Denton, TX in the early 90’s?

City Council Meeting Full of Positive Updates Ashley Husbands This last Tuesday the Howe City Council had a scheduled meeting at Summit Gardens. To open the meeting the three City Council members in attendance, Billie Ingram, Michael Hill and Shawn Tyler and Mayor Karla McDonald first sat for a Board of Adjustments order of business regarding the community project for the home of Mr. William Harvey Morris at 404 Hughes St.. There was a requested change for the size of the structure allowed under the current ordinance. The Board of Adjustments approved the structure size

requested, allowing construction to begin immediately. To open the City Council meeting, Mayor McDonald began a new tradition of the “Mayor Brag Moment” in which city employees and citizens will be recognized monthly at the City Council meetings. According to the Mayor the intention of this new tradition is “ A moment to brag on City Employees, their achievements and behavior that positively affects the citizens and our community.
